Publisher's Summary

This audiobook includes a bonus conversation between the author and actor Brandi Cyrus.

Things We Do in the Dark is a brilliant new thriller from Jennifer Hillier, the award-winning author of the breakout novels Little Secrets and Jar of Hearts. Paris Peralta is suspected of killing her celebrity husband, and her long-hidden past now threatens to destroy her future.

When Paris Peralta is arrested in her own bathroom—covered in blood, holding a straight razor, her celebrity husband dead in the bathtub behind her—she knows she'll be charged with murder. But as bad as this looks, it's not what worries her the most. With the unwanted media attention now surrounding her, it's only a matter of time before someone from her long hidden past recognizes her and destroys the new life she's worked so hard to build, along with any chance of a future.

Twenty-five years earlier, Ruby Reyes, known as the Ice Queen, was convicted of a similar murder in a trial that riveted Canada in the early nineties. Reyes knows who Paris really is, and when she's unexpectedly released from prison, she threatens to expose all of Paris's secrets. Left with no other choice, Paris must finally confront the dark past she escaped, once and for all.

Because the only thing worse than a murder charge are two murder charges.

Nothing like her other books

I was excited to read the latest book from the author of 2 of my all-time favorites. I listened to this in 2 days, but really had no investment in any of the characters, it was more out of wondering if something was going to turn and get interesting, it didn't.
No suspense, I'm surprised I made it to the end. Disappointing when you have high hopes based on previous books.

Loved it!

Preordered this book based on my opinion of her other books and was not disappointed. Such a good book and good narrator as well. A domestic drama and mystery told well. I highly recommend this one.

Skip this one

Where to start….the narration was so poor I couldn’t tell one character from the next. No voice difference between male to female, young to old. Story had potential but author didn’t navigate it well. Was poorly written and the time changes were poorly executed. I recommend skipping this title and saving your credit

Totally Predictable

I was disappointed with the predictability of the storyline especially because I love the suspense and twists in some of the author’s other books.

Very predictable and repetitive

i was hoping for so much more after reading the reviews. i think the author has a good hook but the delivery was terrible. instead of seeing a character evolve and being changed by her experience, i just felt the author just kept repeating things we knew from the jump. Often she used the exact same wording multiple times. Total slog of a book.

Did I figure it out fast…. Yes.

Great thriller, as an Asian American I get the angry Mother in this novel.

I figured it out early on. But I was not disappointed by any means. There are a lot of twists and turns in this book. I enjoyed it very much.

Unique timeline

A slow burn but the character development and unraveling is sooo good. This wasn’t what I expected at all, different than any Jennifer Hillier novel I’ve ever read but I really really enjoyed it.

Garbage: boring, couldn’t finish

Book was unlike anything written Jennifer Hillier’s other popular books. This is a drawn out long drama, not a thriller at all. Started out alright, but by part 2, it got boring and lame. Couldn’t finish. Such a disappointment.

It was fine…

The story kept me relatively interested, but it became predictable early on. Everything gets tided up neatly with a bow by the end which felt far too convenient for my taste. The book is best categorized as a beach read.

Excellent read

Great story, lots of interesting characters & twists. We’ll narrated. The last chapter in Audible which is an interview with the author is superfluous and I felt took away from the enjoyment of the last chapter of the story.
