The focus of CBT is problem-oriented, with an emphasis on the present. Instead of focusing on the causes of distress or symptoms in the past, it looks for ways to improve your current state of mind it focuses on ‘here and now’ problems and difficulties.

DBT teaches you in recovery how to identify, regulate, and feel emotions without it overwhelming them to the point that it triggers impulsive behavior. It is an effective combination of cognitive and behavioral therapies, its goal is to transform negative thinking patterns and destructive behaviors into positive outcomes.

ACT develops psychological flexibility and is a form of behavioral therapy that combines mindfulness skills with the practice of self-acceptance encourages people to embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them.

This guide is a simple, step by step guide

I got this audio book and finished it in less than a day. It was very insightful and even though I live with someone who has depression you really don't know as much about it as you think you do.

I found this book to be mostly easy to listen to.

I found this book to be mostly easy to listen to. Other than the occasional tangent into technical jargon, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Good advice that is easy to implement and doesn't cost much (if any) money. I liked that it mentions various religions without placing anyone above the others, allowing the listener to take in the knowledge without judgment

This book is definitely one.

This book is definitely one that I would want all of my patients who benefit from CBT to have their own copy of. The author did an excellent job of making CBT very user friendly for anyone who might be feeling too overwhelmed in the current moment of their lives to focus on less user friendly books. Let's face it. If you are human you've probably experienced overwhelm at least once. If CBT is indicated, this book will help, along with an experienced clinician of course.
