Story
It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.

Publisher's Summary
An inspirational book about life and its lessons from the Golden Globe and Emmy nominated star of NBC's This Is Us.
When This Is Us debuted in fall 2016, a divided America embraced a show that celebrates human connection. The critically acclaimed series became America's most watched - and most talked about - network show, even building on its fan base in the drama's second season. As Kate Pearson, Chrissy Metz presents a character that has never been seen on television, yet viewers see themselves in her, no matter what they look like or where they come from. Considered a role model just for being her authentic self, Chrissy found herself on magazine covers and talk shows, walking red carpets, and as the subject of endless conversations on social media. "I don't know what you've been through to play her," she is often told by fans, "but it was something."
In This Is Me, Chrissy Metz shares her story with a raw honesty that will leave listeners both surprised but also inspired. Infused with the same authenticity she brings to her starring role, Chrissy's This Is Me is so much more than your standard Hollywood memoir or collection of personal essays. She embraces the spirit of Shonda Rhimes' Year of Yes and shares how she has applied the lessons she learned from both setbacks and successes. A born entertainer, Chrissy finds light in even her darkest moments and leaves the listener feeling they are spending time with a friend who gets it.
Chrissy Metz grew up in a large family, one that always seemed to be moving and growing. Her father disappeared one day, leaving her mother to work a series of menial jobs and his children to learn to live with the threat of hunger and the electricity being cut off. When her mother remarried, Chrissy hoped for "normal" but instead experienced a form of mental pain that seemed crafted just for her. The boys who showed her attention did so with strings attached as well, and Chrissy accepted it, because for her, love always came with conditions.
When she set out for Los Angeles, it was the first time she had been away from her family and from Florida. And for years, she got barely an audition. So how does a woman with the deck stacked against her radiate such love, beauty and joy? This too is at the heart of This Is Me.
With chapters that alternate from autobiographical to instructional, Chrissy offers practical applications of her hard-won insights in a series of "Bee Mindful" interstitials. There she invites you to embrace gratitude in "Say Thank You" or to be honest with your partner and yourself in "The Shrouded Supreme". Blending love and experience, Chrissy encourages us all to claim our rightful place in a world that may be trying to knock us down, find our own unique gifts, and pursue our dreams.

This book is so well written I'm going to start it again. The tone is exceptional and real. I thought I was healed placed that I realized I wasn't but Chrissy helped me grow and I've made Peace. I cried and laugh, laughed and cried. Shouted, YES GIRL I KNOW!!! She became my friend in this book and an instant she-ro. There is an energy that is resonating in me of renewal, forgiveness and determination. Thank you Chrissy and thank you for using your voice. One day you and I will have lunch and teach one another life lesson. We will be friends in real life and continually be booked just like Niecy Nash!!! You asked what my dreams are and this is some of them and I will allow the universe to bring us together! Until then keep being sensational. Know that you are adored and loved by many! You Rock! You are one of the most gorgeous and beautiful humans to ever walk this earth. Cheers to all the people to help you make the mark! Inspirational, Real and Relatable
If you could sum up This Is Me in three words, what would they be?
Chrissy Metz takes herself off the pedestal and reminds us that she is a real person just like you and me,
What other book might you compare This Is Me to and why?
Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick because she just like Chrissy Metz tells us the real story that has lead them to fame. They did not get where they are because everything feel into place or they were just lucky. I took them years of hard work, disappointment and never giving up on themselves or their dreams that got them to where they are at.
Have you listened to any of Chrissy Metz’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, as far as I know Chrissy Metz does not have any other books out but I would love to ready anything else that she publishes.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I listen to the book any chance that I got and I think I finished it in two days!

Can she do anything wrong?
A childhood that should have hardened her made her compassionate and understanding. Seriously taking a step back and looking at my own life and relationships. She makes me want to be a better person.
Also, loved hearing her opinions on fashion. I kept stopping to Google the outfit to make sure I was thinking of the right one. I almost always was and remembered thinking how fabulous she looked when it originally popped up on my feed!
