New York Times bestselling author Ted Dekker teams with Tosca Lee to create this gripping thriller set in a desolate future. Many years have passed since civilization's brush with apocalypse. The world's greatest threats have all been silenced. There is no anger, no hatred, no war. There is only perfect peace... and fear. Brilliant!!!
Dekker's plot was incredible!! Just as I thought I had it figured out, he took me down another path, but I never once felt manipulated. Having lived in Long Beach, it was nice to hear the names of streets I traveled all the time. The characters and story were well thought out. This book is proof positive that excellent fiction can be written without all the foul language so many other author's stoop to in their feeble attempts to have characters express themselves forcibly. No gratuitously graphic scenes to be squeamish over. Not only is the plot brillant, but the creativity in the use of language is unequaled. All of this added layers of depth to the story and proved that the reader can create their own visual image that is just as vivid as any one gratuitiously graphic paragraph could paint. I can't wait to listen to the rest of Dekker's books. I couldn't stop listening to this book. Lamont's voices were wonderful and consistent throughout also. I'm off to order another Dekker book!

Very Enjoyable
This was a great book, and Rob Lamont did a fantastic job reading. I was completely satisfied with this purchase. Ted Dekker is my new favorite author. The book I read/listend to last was "Digital Fortress" by Dan Brown, which totally sucked. That book was contrived and predictable whereas Dekker kept "Thr3e" fresh and suspensful and unpredictable. And, again, Rob Lamont could not have done a better reading: each character's voice was unique and natural sounding. Well done to all involved!

second guessing
This was a great book. Ted Dekker has the gift of misdirection, keeping you wondering who the madman is. Every time you think you know, something makes you totally reanalyze what you thought. The audio quality was good, but a lower format (3 or 4) is ideal (enhanced was a bit TOO clear). All in all, a great story, good narrator, and an enjoyable listen.

Decent Thriller
This is my first Dekker book. It's a decent whodunnit kind of book, with a different sort of mystery. "Psychological Thriller" is a very apt discription. This book does play with the reader's mind. I didn't notice anything strange about the narration. Some copies may be bad. Call Audible and get another copy before letting the narration frustrate you. They're really good about stuff like that.

Great story. Not so great narration.
The overall storyline was filled with intrigue, and the twists and turns that every good mystery novel should have. I just couldn't get past the narrator not giving each character their own personality. I also had a hard time with the music at the end/beginning of each chapter. I feel that it interrupted the natural flow of the book.

Horrible listen to a sound clip first.
Twice in two years in audible I've downloaded a book that was unlistenable. This is the 2nd.
This comment is not about the book itself but the narrator. His voice grated on my nerves. Was so juvenile and lacking in flexibility, I couldn't listen more than 30 minutes before delegating to the trash can.
Disliking a narrator is subjective so you might not agree with me. I'd just suggest that you listen to a sound clip first.

Highly recommended
This book has all the elements I look for in a thriller: Believable, likeable characters; a horrific villain;a plot that is believable (in the novel's setting); and a double twist at the end.
After listening to it, I immediately re-listened to the whole of part 2. And although I knew what was coming, it was just as good the second time.

Great Story! And what a twist!
I've never felt inspired to write a review for a book before, but I just finished listening to this one and had to share. I thought this was a GREAT story! It was intense, creative, and what a psychological twist!
I have to agree however with some of the other reviewers on their opinion of the narrator. The story does makes up for him though. But I felt it was true, that there was little to no voice characterization present in his portrayal and transitions from character to character in this story. You may find yourself rewinding a tad to try to figure out who was saying what. And in this story it becomes important to follow! You'll see.
Regardless, the story was captivating and hard to put down, especially towards the end! I'm looking forward to other stories by this author!

Good Story but it didn't meet it's potential
Pretty good book. The action was exciting, very suspenseful and interesting until you figure out the mystery which isn't too far into the book. The big surprise ending was not much of a surprise. There were, I think, too many clues for the reader. I'm not all that good at figuring mysteries out but I got this one about 1/3 of the way through the book.
It was a very clever twist - a good idea and the story and the philosophy behind it is very interesting but it would have been better if he could have misled us a little more. I'm not sure how he would have done that but that's not my job.
I also would have liked to seen the character of the teacher developed a little more - he's very interesting.
Definitely worth reading. It's a good book. It could have been a GREAT book if the solution were a little less obvious.

Awful! I will never read another Dekker book
What was most disappointing about Ted Dekker’s story?
this book dwelt on the most ignoble and corrupt aspects of unregenerate human nature, and then tied in the Bible in the last 15 minutes of the story, as if that made listening to ten hours of grotesque madness ok.
What didn’t you like about Rob Lamont’s performance?
this narrator spoke so fast it took all the fun out of listening. no pauses between sentences even when the speaker changed. words were spoken so fast they were incomprehensible. a very poor reader.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
certainly not worth ten hours of crazy.
Any additional comments?
i read Christian books for the uplifting power of God. it was missing in this book.

Interesting story....bad music
The story was interesting. The let downs were the music between chapters as it didn't fit the story at all. The other issue was that it was hard to tell the difference between characters. Otherwise a god book
