Publisher's Summary

Ragnar Beck only wanted one thing out of a life - the chance to soldier.

In a war for the survival of the last continent untouched by the invader, Beck finally gets his shot to prove he’s a combat warrior. As the battle unfolds and the only choice is to fight to the bitter end, he performs like the soldier he was raised to be, leaving no enemy standing on the last battleground he’ll ever see. Or is it?

Resurrected into an afterlife where he must prove his worth to join the ranks of an ultra-elite tasked with becoming the greatest warriors to ever exist, he asks himself the only question a real soldier can - who’s going to stop me?

Beck's struggle to make the grade is as important as his quest to discover who he fights for and why. Part mystery, part alternate history, all action thriller, Tier 1000 is the story of a determined warfighter and the battlefields from the past to the far-flung future that forge him into the ultimate soldier.

Full of action and fun

This was just a really fun book. The setup felt like it could be a book all by itself, but when the story kicks in and we start visiting battlefields from throughout history... completely hooked! Plenty of action, good humor, and characters that feel real--a typical book by Jason Anspach and Doc Spears' influence on the technical side of things is felt positively, too.

I loved this book. It feels like a stand-alone, but the ending leaves some room for hope that there will be more.

I can't get through the first few chapters.

Oh. My. Gawd.

We get it. You think the US is devolving into a participation trophy world. (It isn't, your perspective is just skewed.) The story is probably good, but after 20 minutes listening to a guy rant over how diversity and inclusion is ruining everything (which, as a female brown person I literally have to hear every day of my life as I work 4x as hard for barely half of what my fellow non brown female humans have), I want to punch someone in the face.

Preferably, Jason. Doc sounds to old to punch.

Engaging

I love the idea of this book! it really different than what I've read, and even brought in some Starship Trooper-type tech(book, not movie). This was awesome!

Unexpected

This book was unexpectedly awesome! I should not be so surprised by a book co-authored by Jason Anspach. I will also see what Doc Soears has to offer. These gentlemen are the inheritors of us David Drake, John Ringo, and Jerry Pournelle fans (just to name a few greats).

Absolute excellence from this team!

We’ll written with plenty of action, suspense, and drama. Doc Spears and Jason Anspach are among an elite corps of writers that seem to have what it takes to write great military/sci-fi. I’m constantly in awe of Doc’s ability to lend reality and legitimacy to Jason’s seamless writing that keeps me on the edge of my seat.

I’ve been in Special Operations, police work, and private contracting and love reading stories that both take me back to my “glory days” as well as transport me to a plausible, yet entertaining future of warfare. Can’t wait to see what they cook up next!

Not bad.

Huge Anspach fan. I have every audiobook he has put out. The Forgotten Ruins series, Wayward Galaxy series, all the GE titles to include his Dark Operator books with Doc Spears (which I love!, etc. Only thing he’s written that I haven't listened to is his 'Til Death books. That being said, this was my least favorite of his books. That’s not to say it was bad…I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only con for me is the story isn’t as deep, and the world isn’t as large as his previous works. I have zero reservations about recommending this to any fans of Anspach, or any fans of Military Sci-Fi stories for that matter. It deserves a credit for sure.

Unique fusion of religion, mythology, and a vision of an afterlife

Jason and Doc are an excellent team. As a veteran I truly enjoy the warrior ethos blended throughout.

To most of the public (civilian) that’s considered rah rah, but how can they possibly understand the bond, loyalty, commitment a warrior has with his fellow warrior.

Just painful

I'll start off with the obligatory, "I'm a die hard fan of Galaxy's Edge season one" but....this one is in need of some serious, "Get Off My Lawn...Back In My Day" self-editing! I'm discovering that alot of their side projects seem to serve as
gripe delivery platforms. The first few chapters are just a rant about the wussfication of the military and society, in particular. No one wants to listen to 15 hours of what's wrong with our current culture. That's available 24/7 on any news network or mouse click just about these days. Of course, I expect to catch hints of an author's political affiliation or societal views but I don't want to get beaten over the head with it even if I happen to share it! This was supposed to serve as an escape from all of that. Instead, I'm more tense than when I started this beautiful afternoon, excited to get some early Spring time rays, while "enjoying" my next Audible adventure.

Nope, 2 thumbs down

I usually like Jason & Doc’s writing collaborations but this came across as “America!! We’re the greatest! we will fix everything anywhere! Only a murican soldier can win a war of gods!’
Very rare I don’t finish a book but I just couldn’t get through this one.
