Story
In an engagement that many had said was inevitable, the United States and China had exchanged opening shots. While conducting a Freedom of Operations mission, a US destroyer had been sunk by Chinese forces placed on a disputed man-made island. Twelve American sailors rescued from the waters were held captive by China, claiming them to be prisoners of war. In response, the United States mounted a rescue effort while also striking at the Chinese military installation. Fearing retaliation and to be in a position of strength, both countries sortied their fast-attack submarine fleets.

Publisher's Summary
“Dale Brown is a superb storyteller.” (W. E. B. Griffin)
“The best military writer in the country.” (Clive Cusslar)
Former Air Force captain and New York Times best-selling author Dale Brown is an acknowledged master when it comes to bringing military action to breathtaking life and he has received glowing accolades since his debut publication, Flight of the Old Dog.
Tiger’s Claw proves once again that every rave has been well deserved. Set in the near future, Tiger’s Claw imagines a scenario in which tensions escalate between an economically powerful China and a United States weakened by a massive economic downfall, bringing the two superpowers to the brink of total destruction.
Brown’s popular protagonist, retired Air Force lieutenant-general Patrick McLanahan (of A Time for Patriots, Rogue Forces, and other Brown best sellers), is back with his son Brad McLanahan and they’re preparing for the impending apocalyptic clash of men and military technology.
The incomparable Dale Brown scores again with a frighteningly possible story of war and global politics that’s ideal for fans of Vince Flynn and Brad Thor.

Worst accent & drawl I have ever heard in any book
What would have made Tiger's Claw better?
Get rid of William Dufris. He made most of the characters sound STUPID and DUMB!!
What could Dale Brown have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Get rid of all of the "news flashes" in the first several chapters.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of William Dufris?
Anyone else.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I stopped listening after the fourth chapter because narration drove me crazy.
Any additional comments?
I hope I you provide me with a credit for this book, which in my estimation it was the worst book I have listened.

Dale's Bomber crashes
I have read and enjoyed every book written by Dale Brown except this one. The plo,t while believable, is disjointed. The story jumps around too much. There is too much space and time given to technology, and the book ends too quickly. It just happens with out any real reason. Too much time is spent on McClanahan's son and his preposterous flying of a B1 bomber to make the story less fictional. And after suffering through this, our hero is killed off in the end like Masters and Elliott before him. I hope he does not kill off Dog Bastogne as quickly. I look forward to Dale's next book to see what direction he is going in.

Not a bad way to spend a few hours
What did you love best about Tiger's Claw?
It was over the top at times, but it was a typical Dale Brown thriller. Maybe the actions and responses to China were off kilter a little bit, but who knows what politicians will do when we have people like the current administration in power.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I wouldn't say at the edge of my seat, but it did keep my interest.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was decent, but the narrator was not at his best when he was doing multiple voices in a scene.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The Devil in the Deep South China Sea
Any additional comments?
Don't expect more than it is and you will be fine. Dale Brown writes military books designed to be mainly enjoyment for men. The Americans may lose a few battles, but come out ahead in the final analysis because of maverick characters willing to do what it takes. It is not Chaucer.

Good story reflecting more current news.
I am tired of hearing Willium Dufris in book after book pronouncing missile as mis sile with a long i. It is distracting and wrong. The dictionary pronunciation is: /ˈmisəl/. It dstracts from the ongoing saga of the McClanahan's exploits. This was good story I enjoyed, and sorry to see Patrick dies, but look forward to ongoing books following Brad, whom I expect will follow in his father's adventurous footsteps.

The worst story of the series! I expect better.
You listen for 12 1/2 hours and the book and the main character dies in the last 6 minutes. Spent way too much time talking about political turmoil, instead of what mad me a fan of your books. Not much of a techno thriller! I hope the next book is better!

Great technical build-up to a weak ending
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The technical story build up was fascinating and kept my interest and deserved a far better ending. Multiple story lines converged nicely than is was over leaving you actually checking the playback device to see if it skipped anything. Perfomrance was bad. Normal reading voice was great but the character voices were for the most part distracting and not believable. I don't think a female aviator and high ranking officer is going to have the voice of a 13 year old girl.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Weak ending and disappointing end particulary given the strong story build up.
What didn’t you like about William Dufris’s performance?
He should not do alternative voices. Many not believeable and poor editing requiring continual adjustement of volume level. He should just use his reaing voice.
Do you think Tiger's Claw needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. Ending was too weak and left minimal direction for a follow-on although I am sure there will be one or is one already.

Excellent Addition to the family
What did you love best about Tiger's Claw?
Enjoyed the story over all but felt the story started a bit slowly. The intrigue provided is excellent and the real action starts toward the end of the book.
As always the technical expertise provided by Brown is excellent. Disappointed a bit by the ending (epilogue) but over all this was another excellent example of the great product Brown consistently supplies.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No
