Publisher's Summary

Ever wondered just how much of life you can understand through poetry?

Tim Key is never far from stage and screen - from Peep Show to Alpha Papa to Taskmaster. But now he's back doing what he does best - attempting to recite poetry whilst tormenting his friend and musician, the equally brilliant and long-suffering Tom Basden.

From ruminating on the meaning of family via his narrative poem 'The Godfather', attempting to get to the bottom of death via his poem 'The Boy Who Faked His Own Death' and also organising an impromptu stag party, Tim Key uses poetry to help him understand every situation.

Critic Reviews

"...you never know when Key will suddenly toss you a fantastic joke or startlingly well-constructed line." (Radio Times)

"In any other sphere apart from comedy, we'd probably class this way of looking at the world as certifiable. Here it feels like genius." (The Telegraph

"The show...has a kind of artistry and strange beauty that makes it unlike any other hour of stand-up you are likely to see." (The Observer)

Tim Key Late Night Poetry NOT COMPLETE SERIES

I would have given this 5 stars, however there are 2 episodes missing from season 4, ‘Under the stars’ and ‘Cars,’ which means we are missing a whole hour almost of this comic genius and the impeccable Tom Basden. What is going on?

Brilliant but incomplete.

The exchanges between Tim and Tom are on par with the best of Steptoe and Only Fools. Shame Audible can't seem to sort the upload.

Brilliantly Written & Performed - But Not Complete

Even if you don't know the face you will know the voice which is becoming prolific during TV ad breaks.
It is a wonderfully calm and clear speaking voice which does not give away the capability to deliver the performances you will encounter in this Audiobook.
The writing is carefully crafted, every word chosen with care - 'My name is Tim Key's Late Night Poetry Programme' - delivered with vocal precision and wonderfully supported by Tom Basden playing the long-suffering and decidedly not uncomplaining musician Lord.
Surreal situations, odd pronunciation, emphasis and understatement switched around, wild mood swings and some wonderfully off the wall lines that only make sense in the context of this particular world - 'No other Poet in the word would send his Guitarist into..." (a blood-stained Paternoster Lift in the bowels of the BBC).
Oh, there is also the ever baffling and off the wall poetry.
Just let go of the world around you and let the silliness envelop you, and enjoy.

It is a shame that the BBC and / or the Publisher have not completed the collection with the brilliant Christmas episode.
It's not too late to put this right guys.

Superb

So, so good. I absolutely loved this. Had heard a couple on the bbc but great to have all the episodes together. Really clever, and very very funny.

Great comedy

This show is brilliant. I love the sound scapes and worlds they build to present the show in. Meghan is a fine woman.

Tim holds the Key to laughs.

Tim Keys late night poetry programme just got better and funnier. I loved his shouting and anger and this bit with the massive champagne bottle. More please (Points of View most use phrase).

An awesome comedy masterpiece

This is one of my favourite ever radio comedies. In it Key and his double act partner Tom Baden take a simple conceit - a man reading poems, accompanied by his guitar-playing friend - and over the course of several series build a rich comic world that spins off in unpredictable directions. Ably assisted by the hilarious Katy Wix and with guest stars including the gorgeous Sally Phillips it is a brilliant comedy that I have listened to several times, with more and more pleasure.
