Publisher's Summary
The isolated, sleepy little village of Timber Falls—built on the bend of a swift mountain river—swells during the summer months as tourists flock to town to run the river, lured there by the Class IV and Class V rapids.
A gruesome murder of a college student—a river rat—brings the FBI to town.
Haley Martin used to be one of those river rats during her college years. Now she owns the Timber Falls Bar and Grill, drawn back to the picturesque village seven years ago after the tragic death of her wife.
Lynn Carter, a disgraced LAPD detective, was offered an out—a position on a team of unorthodox FBI agents. After a month of training, she was sent out on her own without a team or a partner. Her commander, nothing more than a mysterious voice on the phone, dished out assignments.
When he sent her to Timber Falls—a town by only the stretch of the imagination—she had no idea she would find her peace there. No idea she might find love.
But a serial killer preying on the tourists that the town relies on for survival takes precedence as clues lead her to an unlikely suspect.

Such a powerful story full of strong twists in this campsite murders. Two very strong women trying to live with their past and maybe meeting each other can help them open up again. They have to find a killer first. Great story, their past stories unfold brilliantly. Abby Craden give her stellar gift to make the characters come to life. Masterpiece
Another awesome narration by Abby Craden of a Gerri Hill mystery and romance. Haley Martin had returned to Timber to recover from her wife’s death. She bought the local bar and turned it into a bar and grill. Lynn Carter, former LAPD now FBI agent , comes to town after the gruesome murder of a river rat who rode the rapids that made the town a tourist attraction. Can two wounded souls help each other recover their hearts and lives. Marvelous addition to the FBI series.

Another enjoyable listen from Hill and Craden!
This one felt warm and familiar - like visiting an old friend. Gerri Hill keeps cranking them out and I don't know how she does it, but she manages to keep her books fresh and new while also giving us more of what we expect from her.
Another loner cop, drawn to a small town and the people there while investigating a homicide. The characters are engaging and the story is interesting and builds to a satisfying climax. The romance is sweet but doesn't overshadow the whodunit mystery. It's a pretty even mix.
Abby Craden continues to work her magic. She and Hill really are a perfect pairing.
Loved it and will continue coming back for more!

Fabulous story but
As ever Gerri Hills storytelling is first rate the M C's are well developed and have satisfying story arcs. However this is the second time she has used a trope which is problematic for the trans community. After messaging Gerri I am convinced no transohobia was intended the ishue is still there. Sill an excellent read and well worth the credits!

Too short
This was a great tie-in to the previous Sullivan and Ross novels and, by implication, the Hunter series as well, both of which I really enjoyed. Hill does a great job with linking crime and romance and this was no different with a serial killer, grief and romance entangled to bring out this story. I can’t wait for the new Hunter novel to come out next year. The only fault with this book was that it was over too fast and now I have months to wait for the next novel.
