Story
Most days, I steal from ships to earn a living. Not glamorous, admittedly, but it's honest work. Okay, fine. It isn't honest either, but it means I get to eat. Until one night, a sinfully sexy angel strides into my favorite dance hall and compels me to work for him. It isn't just work, though. He wants me to be his wife in Castle Hades. Apparently, his prophetic dreams say I'll help him become king.

Story
There were several things Vera was quite skilled at. Wielding a blade and pretending to be human were two of them. Following the rules and controlling her anger, were not. Raised in the heart of the Matherin Empire, Vera spent most of her life forced to hide what she was, and what she could do. Until, one day, she foolishly confronts a strange male she spies tailing the Crown Prince. The more answers she uncovers about herself, the more questions arise - and nothing is adding up. Vera must decide what to do, not only with her life, but with the ancient power inside her.

Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

After Keelynn witnesses her sister's murder at the hands of the legendary Gancanagh, an immortal creature who seduces women and kills them with a cursed kiss, she realizes there’s nothing she wouldn't do to get her back. With the help of a vengeful witch, she’s given everything she needs to resurrect the person she loves most. Tadhg, a devilishly handsome half-fae who has no patience for high society—or propriety—would rather spend his time in the company of loose women and dark creatures than help a human kill one of his own. In the shadows, vision can turn blurry. Truths can become lies. Enemies can become lovers. When Violet inexplicably wakes thousands of years after a nuclear holocaust, she finds the world very different. Fae exist now. They’re vicious, animalistic monsters who pervert magic and can morph into any shape—including vampires. They hoard the bounty of the new world, and keep humans banished to the wasteland. At least, that’s what the humans of today have told her.

I was supposed to be in charge. That was always my intention. Until that slick corporate raider, Ethan Bradford, clicked his fancy pen and poof! Just like that, I was under him, instead of on top. Rich and powerful men - especially arrogant, handsome ones - are all the same. I know exactly how to handle him, but when my father pulls rank and orders me to play nice, my plans of putting him in his place vanish. I know his type. I've been around men like him my entire life, but one chance meeting with him and his son, makes me question everything I thought I knew.

Publisher's Summary
"What a pretty flower to keep locked in a big, rocky tower."
Nineteen years ago, I was plucked from the heart of a bloody massacre that spared nobody else.
Small. Fragile. An enigma.
Now ward to a powerful High Master who knows too much and says too little, I lead a simple life, never straying from the confines of an imaginary line I've drawn around the castle grounds.
Stay within. Never leave.
Out there, the monsters lurk. Inside, I'm safe...though at a cost far greater than the blood I drip into a goblet daily. Toxic, unreciprocated love for a man who's utterly unavailable.
My savior. My protector.
My almost executioner.
I can't help but be enamored with the arcane man who holds the power to pull my roots from the ground. When voracious beasts spill across the land and threaten to fray the fabric of my tailored existence, the petals of reality will peel back to reveal an ugly truth. But in a castle puddled with secrets, none are greater than the one I've kept from myself.
No tower is tall enough to protect me from the horror that tore my life to shreds.
To Bleed a Crystal Bloom is a dark Rapunzel reimagining full of immersive imagery and breathtaking angst.

I've read the book 3 times now, So listening to the audio book was like entering the author's world all over again. The narrators were phenomenal. it took me a minute to get used to Laith's voice since I pictured it differently in my head, but her narration grew on me. I enjoyed every minute of it and really cannot wait for the next chapter of this growing story.

Quick read! Ready for the next book
I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait for the second in the series to come out this year! The narrator performance was incredible, it’s a huge reason I originally pre-ordered the book after hearing a live stream of the recording of this book on TikTok. The story was pretty good, slightly difficult to follow at times, but overall a quick read! I definitely can’t wait to learn more about Orlaith and the characters as the story progresses in the next book!

Absolutely fantastic
What an edge of your seat wild ride this book is! It’s an absolutely fantastic start to what I am certain will be a new favorite series of mine. Great narrators that truly capture the voice and personality of each character, and a mysterious unraveling of a future, past and present that makes for an utterly gripping story. I love that this could go so many ways and I’d probably happily go along with wherever the story takes us. Many questions were answered, and even more were set up for the next book. Can’t wait for it now!

Has potential but falls flat
There is so much waffle in this book that it's hard to pay attention to the story - it has potential but there's just so much internal monologue that's not really character or world building that could have been edited out. I found the romanced pair cringy and toxic, though I believe this is what the author is going for. The MC is very immature and doesn't really have much growth, every decision she makes is out of spite and thus doesn't lend to much character development. I hope that this is all a set up for her to see the outside world, grow up a lot and face the reality that the man she loves is abusive and that she can choose her own path. I doubt this is where the author is going with this but tbh they set up way more interesting relationships with side characters so the potential is there for this story to blossom into something that explores coming of age after being sheltered and groomed. Lots of mystery has been set up and could lend to good pay-off but this book didn't really give enough for me to be excited for more. Would be interested to see how this author grows because they have great potential with the way they world build but they just aren't quite there with making it as engaging as it could be. Narration was fine but was boring at times but I believe this was more related to the material than the performances.

Not what I expected!
I really enjoyed this story and the audio performances from Chelsea and Troy! I was so captivated by Laith and how as a young maturing woman takes steps into independence from being sheltered. Over coming a lot of her fears and making decisions on her own was huge, and the cliffhanger of more secrets I can’t wait to see what book two has in-stored! I wonder if this Guardian to lovers will happen between them … will Royden finally open his harden heart to laith? What are the motives of Kane? Political or purely interested in laith … Thank you Sarah for this dark intriguing and amazing story.
