Story
For Michael Stirling, London's most infamous rake, after a lifetime of chasing women, of smiling slyly as they chased him, of allowing himself to be caught but never permitting his heart to become engaged, he took one look at Francesca Bridgerton and fell so fast and hard into love it was a wonder he managed to remain standing. Unfortunately for Michael, however, Francesca's surname was to remain Bridgerton for only a mere 36 hours longer.

Publisher's Summary
Sir Phillip knew that Eloise Bridgerton was a spinster, and so he'd proposed, figuring that she'd be homely and unassuming, and more than a little desperate for an offer of marriage. Except...she wasn't. The beautiful woman on his doorstep was anything but quiet, and when she stopped talking long enough to close her mouth, all he wanted to do was kiss her... and more. Did he think she was mad?
Eloise Bridgerton couldn't marry a man she had never met! But then she started thinking...and wondering...and before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match. Except...he wasn't. Her perfect husband wouldn't be so moody and ill-mannered, and while Phillip was certainly handsome, he was a large brute of a man, rough and rugged, and totally unlike the London gentlemen vying for her hand. But when he smiled...and when he kissed her...the rest of the world simply fell away, and she couldn't help but wonder...could this imperfect man be perfect for her?

Very Enjoyable! Listened in 1 day
If you could sum up To Sir Phillip, with Love in three words, what would they be?
Him: Tall, hunky, handsome -- Her: fiesty, beautiful, understanding
What did you like best about this story?
Synopsis: Sir Phillip Crane, 30 years old, has recently lost his wife of 8 years to severe, chronic depression. In those days they called it melancholy. His wife attempts suicide by drowning in a near frozen lake and dies several days later. The Crane's have disrespectful and undisciplined 7 year old twins who have been left to the care of numerous nannies and nurses. Mrs. Crane's never married cousin Eloise, age 28, starts a kind letter conversation with Sir Phillip for 1 year following the mourning of his wife, whom he did not love.
Eloise shows up at his doorstep one evening, the children playing terrible pranks on her, Phillip yelling at them. The next day the only way Phillip can stop her mouth from talking incessantly is to kiss her! And the romance begins! Eloise a force to be reckoned with and just what Phillip and the children have needed so badly.
This story had me chuckling at Eloise and Phillip's banter numerous times, and laughing out loud while they were having an argument in the greenhouse when "her mouth was moving and no words came out." There are 2 scenes of sex and they were pretty hot!
It ends happy and satisfying, albeit a bit quick, I wanted the story to go on.
Any additional comments?
This is a good Austen Mr. Darcy & Elizabeth Bennett type story.

Another good in the collection but...💜
...the narration! My gosh, I swear. Rosalyn Landor could read the ingredients on a bag of dog food and keep people fully engaged!
This book was fast and sweet. No real major undying conflict, just the tell tale of how Eloise and Phillip ended up together. Nice, lightweight story. There were some funny moments and even some tear jerkers. The story did touch on what is now known as clinical depression, compounded with post partum depression, and the unpleasant ending that those can evoke. It wasn’t heavy in the stotyline, but it was present.
Rosalyn, as I mentioned above, is a phenomenal narrator, and one who many adore. She did a great job in this, and I actually forgot on occasion, that it was one person reading!
I think this was part of a 2 for 1 sale, and definitely worth it for that, but as much as I enjoyed the story, I’m not sure it would be worth an entire credit. It was a super fast story and it caught me off guard that it was over when it ended. Lol
(Edited to note, there is a slight difference in this with the Netflix version of Brigertons in that Marina, Sir Phillips first wife, is a Brigerton cousin, not a Featherington cousin.)

More of the same, childish.
Two very badly behaved twins, who are allow to terrorise, their home and the neighbourhood.
The Hero is defensive, unpleasant, a man who wants his cake and eat it.
He is extremely selfish, shuns any responsibility and neglects his children.
The Heroine is meant to be an intelligent woman, buy plays childish games and extremely desperate to marry.
The adults behavior is no better than the children, so conforming to them, that their actions are acceptable.
They are all nasty characters, so deserve each other.

Could do with a thesaurus
I've been storming through the books after watching Netflix and whilst none of the books are literaryclassics,, Sir Philip is a total lemon.
The characters are 2 dimensional, the children are annoying, the men swing between neanderthal and helpless, anyone contracts life threatening pneumonia if they get soaked, 'murmured' is used at least 3 times in every sentence, as is 'a mixture bemusement and bewilderment ' and everyone seems to blink a lot.
I did make it to the end but by the final chapters are trudged through.
I am a tenacious person and the books do have the feel of being auditory monosodium glutamate so I'll probably plough on to book 6 in the vague hope that this is the dissapointing strawberry cream in the chocolate box.

Light Romantic erotic novel
The plot doesn't have much going for it, it's an easy thing to listen to on a walk or while falling asleep. The erotic pasaagea are good and the narrator does a good job with having different voices for the different characters. I was especially interested in this book because of Eloise, however after having seen the series and not read Daphne's book I am a bit confused about the whole relation between her and Philip at the start and she doesn't have the same strong character as in the series.

Wonderful
This is Eloise Bridgerton's story. She finds herself contemplating marriage to Sir Philip, a man that was previously married to her cousin but is widowed now and in search of a mother for his two children. After a year of corresponding to Eloise after she wrote to offer her condolences to him, Philip decides that she seems suitable enough to ask her to marry him. He expects her to jump at the offer but when they finally meet in person to see if they suit he is surprised that she doesn't immediately accept his proposal. Their story revolves around their time together finding out about each other and indeed finding if they would suit as a couple.
The children in this story are fabulous, their antics made me laugh so much especially with the way that the narrator, Rosalyn Landor portrays them. She had me laughing out loud often and I am sure I would look like a madwoman if anybody were to see me.
Another part of the book that I loved was when the Bridgerton brothers turned up to take Eloise home, I won't go into detail, suffice to say it is very memorable.
This book and its narration are perfect. I will definitely listen to it again, I will listen to all of the books again!

She has the most wonderful voice and range of different character voices. She brings life to the characters and makes the listener care about them and what happens to them.

Not one of her bests
I like the story, looove Eloise, but Philip is so rude and egocentric, it's hard to like him. Also the author puts so much description between dialogues that a 2 min talk becomes slow and somehow forced into a 2 hour talk with unnecessary glances, hand movements and grunts.
Also, if you don't like annoying bratty kids that cry for everything, this book won't be of your liking.

Fantastic as usual.
Another Julia Quinn audible read by Rosalyn Landon and I certainly was not disappointed. I love all Julia Quinn’s books, call me a romantic, yes I am, but her books give more than justice, they have an interesting story as well.

Ended up skipping the sex scenes
After reading the last few, the sex scenes are all sounding the same. I prefer the stories behind the sex stuff. Getting annoying.

This is my favourite Bridgerton Story. I just read this for the second time and enjoyed it just as much.

Felt like you were living it.
Fantastic book simply loved listening to it. Narration made you feel like you were actually in the scene itself go.

If you love the Bridgertons this won’t disappoint
Finally, we get Elouise’s side of the story. She has always been my favourite Bridgerton. Yes the books are period romance novels, but as “guilty pleasures” go this is a great one!

Not my favourite Bridgerton novel
Though not as entertaining as the previous books, it was still an enjoyable listen. Narrated well
