Story
After his final trip up the river Thames with his three companions - - Harris, George, and Montmorency the dog - - Jerome K. Jerome sat down to write his proposed book, The Story of the Thames. But before he could tackle the work in the serious manner intended, his humor took over and gave birth to a masterpiece of unquenchable comedy. This is a classic of English humor, justifiably loved around the world.

A collection of wide-ranging and endearingly personal columns — from Bragg’s love of Tupperware (his mother preferred margarine tubs and thought Tupperware was “just showing off”) to the decline of country music, from the legacy of Harper Lee to the metamorphosis of the pickup truck.

Story
A few minutes before midnight on April 14, 1912, the "unsinkable" RMS Titanic, on her maiden voyage to New York, struck an iceberg. Less than three hours later she lay at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. While the world has remained fascinated by the tragedy, the most amazing drama of those fateful hours was not played out aboard the doomed liner. It took place on the decks of two other ships, one 58 miles distant from the sinking Titanic, the other barely 10 miles away.

Excellent anti-ghost story
Jerome was one of the few authors of his day to scoff openly at the Spiritualist Movement. This story is an excellent spoof on the ghost stories that were churned out by the thousand that are for the most part rightly forgotten since they were never worth the paper they wasted. Save the trees!
Jerome's style is a bit sarcastic and ironic as always. But I like it anyway.

This was not spooky at all - disappointed
I have been on an M.R. James binge and really enjoying the ghost stories since Christmas but this one just TOTALLY missed the mark.
When I bought this, I did not remember that Jerome K Jerome is a very humorous writer. Sad to say I did not enjoy it at all. I'm not even going to bother listening to the last one.
