The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Story
For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.
The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.
The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out. The Shadow is rising to cover humankind.
In Tar Valon, Min sees portents of hideous doom. Will the White Tower itself be broken?
In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn.
In Cantorin, among the Sea Folk, High Lady Suroth plans the return of the Seanchan armies to the mainland.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!
Brandon Sanderson really understands this wonderful world that Robert Jordan has created. I am saddened that we will only get one more book and then nothing but imagination. I have listened to all of the books in this series and I remain captivated by the charactors and the Narration. Kate Redding is really the best there is and there would be no Matt without Micheal Kramer. Mr. Sanderson has another loyal follower.

Doesn't wrap as nicely as Gathering Storm
This was a solid and action packed listen. As usual, Michael and Kate do an excellent job with the read. If Rand and Egwene are the primary characters in this series, they have only brief appearances in Towers of Midnight. Perrin and Mat's stories finally get moving and are almost resolved. I would say that anything unpredictable occurs in those story lines, but they are satisfying nonetheless. The flow and story is so tight I actually felt this book ended too abruptly. However, I look forward to the conclusion coming in the next book.

Its a necessary step...
I'm a long time WOT fan but for me, like many, the series really bogged down as Jordan overwrote every book since the 5th one. RJ pursued so many story lines it made it almost impossible to follow one character or story arc effectively as a reader, and the mess he left for Brandon Sanderson to clean up is truly atrocious. How RJ expected to finish all of this off in 1 last mammoth book is beyond me. Clearly BS has a made an effort to retain the Jordan pattern of giving every single minor character anyone runs across a back story. Unfortunately that tendency was one of the things I liked least about how RJ wrote his books. Like many here I'm terribly tired of P Aybarra's constant introspection, just get over yourself already. Further I believe that Kramer's voice for him, along with the dialog, makes him seem like a petulant child and I've found myself skipping parts of his section that clearly repeat what has been said too many times before. I generally like Mat's character and it feels to me like BS has brought some new life to that story line, and some of the plot lines finally resolve themselves to clean that up. Rand's story arc and character are HUGE upgrades over RJ's last efforts and I finally find, again, that the story seems to be advancing along well with his character. Egwene's character is still far too much for me to stomach and she seems to be becoming a pivotal female character who is influencing the other female characters in the story line, such as Elayne and Nyneave who are stronger characters and much more likable in my opinion. I find myself wishing Egwene is killed off in a tragic moment to show that even the main characters can be touched by the Dark... but if that happened there would be WAY to much work to be done on the White Tower story line so I guess she has to be kept around. Avienda, one of my favorite early characters is virtually non-existant, as are most of the Aiel characters. This is clearly a necessary step, just finish already.

Why is she making all those exaggerated, strange noises, and why is she talking like that for Min? Oh, light, she is a bad narrator. Please for your own sake lady, do not try to make it oo much, keep a balance in visualizing voices, it is way too much, what a pity, such an amazing book, and that voices, what can I say, phaa

After 12 books of Min's female voice fitting its description as being deep and warm, the woman narrator has changed it here to be high and girly.

beware buying this book
The story is coming together amazingly, the pace is way faster than we have been used to, but then we all know that the next book is the last, so the pace has to pick up in order for the story to be complete in only one more book.
I got more used to the voices of the narrators as this is my second audio book for WOT, having listened to the Gathering Storm. I still find the voices a little stilted for some characters, but I kind of got past that too.
HOWEVER LISTENER BEWARE
This is supposed to be an unabridged version and yet they DO NOT READ THE GLOSSARY!
This is a CRIME.
Anyone who has been following this series for years has been waiting with great impatience and anticipation to find out who killed Asmodean - it is one of the world's best kept secrets and has been debated for years and years online as we waited for the answer.
Again anyone following this series is by now well aware that in this book the answer is revealed ... BUT ONLY IN THE GLOSSARY.
SO I was totally outraged that the glossary was not read out at the end of the book as it was a VITAL part of the book (the glossary in WOT has always been vital for the gems of information it contains and the glossary changes in every book).
SO BEWARE - if you are a true fan and wanting to READ the answer to the most intriguing question in your mind you will be left high and dry.
I had to finally succumb and phone my daughter and BEG for her to read the glossary entry to me. It was not the great height of light being shed that it would have been to have the glossary read out to me.
SHAME ON THE PRODUCERS OF THIS AUDIO BOOK FOR CALLING THIS UNABRIDGED.
PS no I won't say here who killed him, you will have to find it out by buying the hard copy :)

Maybe I'm just growing tired of the series...
...but I'm going to stop this book for awhile and come back to it. I enjoyed the The Gathering Storm quite a bit, so I don't think it's Brandon Sanderson's writing, but Perrin Aybara is becoming sooooo tedious for me. There's absolutely nothing new happening in his story arc and I groan every time we get back to it - which seems way too often in this book. Crawling through the wolf dream with Hopper over and over again is mind numbing!

A Towering Series
As I listened to this book, and look forward to reading thepages of the printed version, I am reminded of Elaida in her stately office high atop the White Tower, overseeing her estranged developments. Lofty is the series of Wheel of Time, and this book is by far no disappointment. When I finally reached book 10 back in 2003 after my first reading of the series, I felt that my my world was less real, and like I was dreaming - only awake in Andor or one of the other kingdoms in WoT universe. I knew book 11 was coming, and couldn't wait. Then Mr. Jordon was taken from us with misfortune and my heart sank! How can we find out what will happen next? Who could spin this tale as masterfully as RJ? Well, you should know the answer to that if you're thinking on this book! I wouldn't recommend it read on it's own... you need to put it in context, though supposedly it should be okay stood on it's own.
Right, what's it about? The beginning is as many fo the other books, setting scenes and building threads to the unfoldings tory lines. Though I feel the prologue section was not as exciting as previous volumes in this series. The build up in the book towards Tai-mon Gaidon is fantastic, though, and the lead on from Egwene's new leadership in The now mended White Tower reads (or listens!) flawlessly. The build up of Perrin's leadership is also handled well, as he finally accepts his role of General elect, and come's face to face with past demons in corssing paths with the Whitecloaks. Mat's forray into the realm of Snakes and Fox's plays out well, and we finally get to find out what giving up half the light of the world to save the world means! Okay, I kinda guessed, but it was still very exciting! ;)
And as Rand becomes Lews Therrin, more and more, you read thinking why doesn't Tar-Mon Gaidon start already?!? But then you realise, it already has! And it is a battle that has raged since time began. I can't wait to see how Alludra's Dragons eat up trollocs on the front lines!!

So happy not to be disappointed!
This is a VERY interesting adventure to partake in...Sanderson does a great job ending the story. I seldom read those very very long fantasy series, they usually loose tempo and thrill along the way but here are a selection of 'persons' that goes on fascinating me, actually the personage in the books are of greater import than the story itself...which does not mean that the story is uninteresting or bad in any way, but the persons has come alive in my imagination and that is one thing I believe is a great achievement of an author! Good job and Thanks! (The reading is as always superb;-)

The Towers Of Midnight
This book is the best in the series, so far. It has intrigue, action and suspense; keep the tissues handy. Michael Kramer & Kate Reading bring to life the characters that we think of as very dear friends, each character had their own voice and was instantly recognisable so you could follow the story with ease. Brandon Sanderson was an inspired choice of author by Robert Jordan's widow, to take up the challenge of finishing an immensely popular series. Excellent. Highly recommended.

very enjoyable and excellently read - gripping.
a very enjoyable series and finally coming together. The new author has kept to the style of the old while unpicking some of the massive plot holes subtly throughout. of enjoyment was the excellent orators even with the occasional mispronunciation; specifically Trebuchet which was hilariously miss pronounced 🤣

The last three books are the best!
The pace picks up and the quality of the writing is much better with no unnecessary material. A great closing to the series.

My fav so far
Absolute monster of a book. Occasionally I've found myself slightly annoyed by Kate's way of reading (just personal preferance, she's VERY good! Michael is tailor made for me, so she falls in that shadow), but not this time. Super performance of an epic EPIC book.

Great stuff, tiny bugbears
Please, please look up how to pronounce unfamiliar words! Trebuchet is not pronounced how it's spelled. Overall fantastic, but the occasional mispronunciation is really irritating.

Thank you Mr Sanderson...
What made the experience of listening to Towers of Midnight the most enjoyable?
For me this book is all about nostalgia, I read the other books of the series as a teenager and loved them but some of the novels became drawn out and tedious, waiting for Nynaeve to tug her braid and get angry at the 'wool headed' men. Brandon has brought back all the fun and excitement of the first few books and swept me back into a world I loved once again. I was skeptical at first, I brought this just so I could finally say I was going to finish the series but I'm so glad I did. He writes the characters beautifully and does more than justice to RJ's vision. If you have enjoyed any of the first few books this is a must read/listen because of all the insights that tie right back to the beginning of the Wheel Of Time. He has not forgotten a thing!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Honestly I loved Nynaeve & Egwene this book, in other books I've found them rude, bitchy and annoying (even wanting to skip chapters with them in it) but Brandon brings out their softer, more human side. The evolving of the characters was something I really appreciated in this book.
Have you listened to any of Michael Kramer and Kate Reading ’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I have listened to other WOT readings, they do a remarkable job - extremely easy to listen to and they voice the characters well. WOT has so many characters but they give each one a personality and thought process all of their own. You can hear them enjoying the story as much as you do.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
light blind it, we're almost there...

So good and worth the long journey.
We are indebted to Robert Jordan for making the world but truly his text quality was lower than Brandon Sanderson at the last few of his published works. It was so fortunate that we got a different author and style for the end. So much more action packed!

Action Packed
Honestly one of the best in the series. This book sees the culmination of a lot of plot lines and so much character development all packed into a single book. This novel does a great job of wrapping up the series and preparing the readers for the Last Battle.
