Clear and concise training manual for beginners

This is a good little book with many of the basics of dog training and ways that it can be adapted to the disabled community. Having trained service dogs, and having had three service dogs from major service dog schools, I would still recommend getting a dog from an IAADP approved school. While this book is excellent for explaining how they got the dogs to do the tasks so effortlessly, it is not anywhere as easy as it sounds. I have been training animals for well over a half century, and unless you are skilled in the selection and training of these very special animals, I would not recommend it. By all means get the book as an adjunct to your obedience library, but do not assume that you can get it and know how to train a service dog.

Old School Theory NOT Based in Behavioral Science

Keep up with the progress of knowledge and find something else.

Pack theory and domination are a big part of the book.

Welfare recipients compared to Dog’s!

There is nothing that will allow me to forget this author comparing welfare recipients to Dogs, in terms of incentivizing work. Disgusting.

Waste of time, waste of money

Title is false advertising. This book is nothing but fluff. The single, worst audiobook purchase I have ever made. Halfway through the book, I have yet to hear anything at all about actual training. It is literally, 100% fluffy nonsense. There is absolutely nothing in this book about training a service dog. Not a single detail. This book should be called, “all of the fluffy rules that you already know about if you’ve ever done any research at all about service dogs, and not a single thing about training them.”

Narrator sounds like she is reading

Good content, but narrator needs more practice. Production team missed repeated sentences and other details.

Marginal book

This books had several flaws, mixing up breeds and language of other breeds. Read choppy and hard to listen to.

Poorly written, poorly recorded, scientifically inaccurate

Offers no information you couldn’t get from a blog.

The author makes a lot of lame jokes. The recording skips and repeats a lot. The author builds his entire approach on the pack theory which has been scientifically disproven.
