Despite her longing for the sea, Macy has clung to the safety of land for half her life, devoting herself to her daily routine - until she agrees to go sailing with a childhood friend. Why did so many people like this book?

***Spoilers in Review***

I started a book club and this was our second book. I saw it was highly rated on Good Reads. For context I have really enjoyed the Anita Blake books so while I don't spend a lot of time in the world of erotica, I do like it and so thought this would be good. It is not.
The story is super simple and honestly is so similar to Twilight with Kraken instead of Vampires I was really surprised. Also the male characters are cringe-worthy possessive of the female characters with the main characters meeting through a kidnapping.
The sexy times were really boring. I skipped through them hoping the plot would do something interesting but it was a chore to get through it.
It of course ends with a miracle pregnancy and birth. On a side note, whats the deal with monster pregnancies being only 5 months? Twilight did it, this book did it, just made me laugh how part of super natural pregnancy is getting through it at lightening speed because monster babies have super short gestation periods.
Also for a sort of sci-fi book the colonists (humans) must be Puritans because the society was structured in a way that you get married ideally around 18 and only join with one person and that's it for life. I mean really? Macy was considered really out there for being 25 or 27 and single still.
All of that being said, this book is loved by a lot of people. it has high marks here on audible and as I mentioned Good Reads, it just did not work for me as erotica, sci-fi, or fantasy. I will not be finishing the series.

Good read! Worth a Cerdit!

Take a chance on this book! I was very surprised on how well I enjoyed it. Since this book had no reviews yet I was unsure how this adventure would go, but wow, I love the idea of a squid man falling for a human female, it flowed well and was not overly weird! Plot was decent and there was char growth, and thank goodness the female was not whinny! woohoo! <3

The narrators did well, nothing odd or gasps of breaths between sentences. They did good separating other character voices!

Good start to a new series!

The content was good...

4 stars for content. I enjoyed the story and the characters.

Audible: I added the whispersync audible narration to this kindle book. I do NOT recommend listening to the audio book. It is better to just read this one. There are two narrators. The female was fine but the male wasn't my favorite. He didn't enunciate well or speak clearly and the way he spoke did not match Jax's character.

different in a good way

I really enjoy the story it was different for me I normally listen to werewolves and vampires. how were this was about a sea monster or as they will call themselves The Krakens and the humans on. it wasn't overly weird during the sex scenes. definitely worth your credit not too much drama but enough to put you at the edge.
what I did not like about the book what's the author kept the characters in 3rd person. I felt like I didn't know what time or Century this was happening in. and never gets into it until almost in the middle of the book but even then you still don't know what year. there were still a little bit of holes missing in this book but I would definitely listen to the second one. maybe it would answer more of my questions.

Ugh!

This was so bad. I mean, horrible. DNF.

1) The narrator's voices were over-the-top and her cadence completely wrong.
2) Terrible dialogue. No one, not even bad romance characters, talk this way.
3) In the scene where our MCs first meet, the FMC went through about 5 emotional states within as many minutes.
4) Characterization worse than cardboard cutouts.

Returned this sucker. (Tentacle pun intended.)

Another happy surprise form Tiffany Roberts

I really enjoyed this book. I usually don’t like very “alien” looking alien romance stories. However, I am now wishing there were more books in the series available on Audible! The storyline is pretty strong and the characters are good together. The world building is good also.

The 2 books by Tiffany Roberts available here have been great!

Fantastic

I was very skeptical at the start of the book. I had read and reread the reviews and then jut decided why not. Once I got into it, I found it very hard to stop when I needed to sleep. It has a bit of everything you need I. A sci fi romance. I am desperately hoping that TF will add the rest of the series to Audible. Please with a cherry on top. The narration was perfect reflecting slightly different was of speaking better the Kraken and the humans. Absolutely perfect.

So good!

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this story! It was awesome. The hero was the perfect kind of hero; strong, dominant, kind, caring, not a dbag. While I didn't like how quick the heroine was okay with being trapped there, I still liked her alot and get her reasoning. I just like it when the heroines a bit more fiesty.

As always, Hollie Jackson was fantastic and the male narrator did a good job as well.

Overall I strongly recommend this and am so disappointed the remainder of the series isn't available on Audible.

Nice listen

Interesting concept and this book gave me a nice bit of escapism. Wasn’t the best written book, but good for the genre.

Another great story by this duo!

Excellent writing and world building along with well-developed and relatable characters. The romance was sweet, the story fast-paced and the chemistry between the main characters steamy. Definitely recommend!

***Oh my Kraken***

I loved this book so much it's understated in so many ways. It got you right in your heart. It's a story about prejudiced, anger and stereotype. It's happening in real life the creatures might be a sci-fi but the prejudice is real. this book is a slow burn romance with plenty of boiling chemistry (grins) The narrator's are both excellent thank you.
I'm a huge fan of Hollie Jackson and Ryan Turner has the most gentlest voice ever.
