Feel better about yourself now!!

I loved this audiobook. I realized that I was not happy in my relationship with my husband. My husband has verbally abused my children and me for many years. This audiobook has helped me to trust myself again and to realize that I deserve to be valued for the person that I am. I am slowly recovering and able to say "no" more to my husband instead of saying nothing at all and taking the abuse in silence. I feel more positive about myself after listening to this audiobook and I am glad to have it in my library so that I can reference it at any time. I especially loved the section on How to move to a place of healing because this is the stage where I am at now. I recommend this audiobook to anyone who has suffered from abuse in their relationship.

NEEDED THIS!

I have been struggling with my partner emotionally abusing me and gaslighting me for years. I have left 3 times but I keep going back because I keep thinking everything will change. but recently I have been opening my eyes and speaking up and not letting him treat me that way and not allowing him to blame me or make me feel like it's my fault. However, because I'm speaking up now I don't want to do the same thing to him now. This is a great book to read even if your self is not going through this someone close to you probably is and this can also help understand what they go through! VERY GREAT BOOK!

Overcoming a narcissistic magic spell

Thanks, Dennis, for this informative and revelating audiobook. Surviving a narcissistic relationship is a never-ending story, especially when this relationship is with a family member. The importance of breaking apart from the verbal abuse that we suffer from the gaslighting from a narcissist is crucial to healing ourselves. Remember that all the words coming out from a narcissistic person are not a magic spell, and we can break free from those words is very important.

I recommend this book to anyone that lives with or is a survivor of a narcissistic relationship.

Really helpful book

"Gaslighting" is a buzzword, but I don't think I really understood the concept until this audiobook. It's super-compassionate but also filled with well-researched information. Tips and tricks, yes. But also some real thoughtful help to get you back on your feet. I love the narrator too.

Great guide for healing from emotional abuse

I loved that the author created a fictional character by the name of Ken to characterize a narcissist and illustrate the behavior of a gaslighting. It really helped me to conceptualize how it plays out. Another key point that makes this book stand out is that the author shares about his childhood being parented by a narcissistic mother. As someone who has endured emotional abuse, the author is able to speak to the unseen realities that only fellow sufferers understand. Great step-by-step guide for getting free from an abusive relationship and beginning the healing process.

Very interesting subject. Good narration.

This was an interesting listen.
I assume this Gaslighting term comes from the old "Gaslight" movie with Ingrid Bergman.
The audiobook goes deep into the features and behaviors of the victim and victimizers. It shows patterns and warning signs to be aware of. How to easily identify a victim, how to engage, grow, break the cycle. Perfect for the person going through this, the therapist or a family/friend to help any person that has experienced and encountered a Narcissistic person.
Very helpful, I recommend this book.
