Publisher's Summary

From the time they were young, Gayle and Patricia were raised like sisters, as close as two friends could be. But they each had dreams that would take them far away - and far away from each other.

Gayle was the beauty who believed that a man could make her life complete. Patricia was the intellectual who thought that rising to the top of her career would make her happy. And then there is Marcus Carter, who has been linked to both Gayle and Pat since the tragedy that occurred when they were all children. Can either one save him from himself? Can friends survive a love that comes between them? Each of them gets what she wants, but no one counts on the price they have to pay.

When they realize that dreams can be hollow and love has its cost, they learn the most important lessons of all: to never give up on the people who love you, and that it isn't just blood that makes two people sisters.

Better with each chapter!

the novel follows the main characters from childhood to mature adult. the deeper into the novel I got the more I enjoyed it. I found myself getting impatient with some of the character's actions and giving them advice. I was surprised at how well researched various aspects of the story were. The novel was a great read and I hated for it to end.

Great book!

The book kept my attention the entire time! I couldn't stop playing it until I finished it. I loved following the story of Gayle, Patricia and Marcus! It was beautifully written and the reader did an excellent job! The reader changed accents and tones to match characters and I appreciated that.

Wow!!

What a story! It seems that everything comes full circle. The books starts a little slowly but takes the reader on an adventurous ride...full of emotion- humorous, frustrating, sad, panic stricken, frightening, joyous, and relieving. Would definitely recommend.

Had me holding my breath...

This book was so good. I was so into it that actually prayed through some parts of their lives and held my breath during other parts.

Exceptional... but

Exceptional story. Very well thought out. The journey had me captivated. I anticipated more as the chapters went on. The path that the three of them ( Marcus too) chose came with it's own teachable moments. But life still comes full circle!

With that said, Pat and Gayle had me kissing my teeth a few times. Phew, those ladies can be naive and hot headed. But it made for a good story.
The narrator did a pretty good job with the characters, but at times was so monotone and dry.
Overall, I would recommend.
