Indomitable
A book for artists. Especially interesting to me was how much Truitt was a product of her time. Such an independent spirit from a world that really no longer seems to exist. Her alone-ness and strict belief in her art and process seem like a lifeline which kept her going. Also of note to me was her placing all her intimacy, time and pleasure on her children. Never a partner and this seems a bit sad. Although she did have a moment of realizing how she played into her relationship with her husband, it seems a fleeting thought.
I also liked her insights on running Yaddo, so different from the solitary life of an artist. Her reflections on Europe were also well stated and illuminating.
