Cute

I really enjoy the Kinsella books and I loved this narrator's voice, really well done. I haven't given it more than 3 stars because the story line drags on in places, a little to much self pity from the main character. Once she finishes with the 'woe is me' stuff, its great, fun and giggly. A nice listen.

Absolutely brilliant!

This book was recommended to me by a friend who reads a lot and said it was amusing! that is an understatement, it is rip roaring laugh out loud funny as an audio book - my reader friend and I were comparing notes and it is clearly funnier in audio as the voices are so much more convincing.
I defy anyone to listen to this without laughing out loud - but be careful if driving!
The narrater has captured the characters perfectly, I'm sure Sophie Kinsella is very proud - what a clever writer!
I can't wait for the next Kinsella book.

Very ingenious

I had expected this book to be an easy-listen chick-lit sort of story as an antidote to all the crime-fiction and emotionally charged books I've been listening to recently such as The Help or Lionel Shriver's excoriating novels. However, Twenties Girl proved to be an imaginative story with many surprises. There was some of the expected romantic heart-searching over men, but with the ingenious twist of having a ghost influencing the heroine's love-life and acting as her side-kick in a quest to find a missing necklace. Rollicking good fun. I thought the reader was excellent in bringing the characters to life.

Magical

What a cracking listen with superb and imaginative narration. there were moments when I was laughing out loud which can look slightly odd when you're sitting on a plane. Funny, original and sometimes just a little sad but I cannot recommend this book enough. I think we should all learn how to charlston!

Kinsella Sparkles with Humour and Originality

As a rule I don't like ghost stories, but Kinsella's Sadie is very hard to resist. This combined with the core theme of a woman struggling to succeed in a man's world makes the book a winner for me.

Like her earlier novels 'Remember me' and 'Undomestic Goddess' and those darker novels written as Madeleine Wickham 'Sleeping Arrangements' and 'Cocktails for three', her writing sparkles with humor and originality. 'Twenties Girl' ranks with her best IMO. Jane Collingwood is excellent as the narrator ..... I loved the way she handles Sadie's voice when getting inside peoples heads!

Loved It

My first Sophie Kinsella book and I was very dubious being a 50 something year old and thinking this would be too young for me. So wrong, The reader is brilliant with both her accents and characterisation which adds to this rather silly but delightful story. I loved it and didn't want it to end with both funny (laugh out loud bursts) and sad moments and it made me feel as if I had been part of the Twenties. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have known our ancestors and the lives they led. Definitely going to download more of Sophie's books.

Frothy but enjoyable chick-flick book

It is well written but the plot is a bit predictable and the characters are straight out of a romantic novel. I did enjoy it though and can recommend it for easy reading (or listening)

The best book I have listened to so far.

Great characters, not as unbelievable as some of her other characters. A surprisingly good storyline and beautifully read.

Super fun read

Simply loved this book. Not the normal chick-lit novel as one of the main characters is a ghost but it is quirky, funny, moving and very well written. Also superbly narrated. Highly recommended.

Fabulous book, a must read/listen

This is such a wonderful story. It’s engaging from the beginning and Kinsella keeps you hooked all the way through. It’s so funny and touching, with laugh out loud moments as well as poignant ones. I’ve been waiting for ages for an unabridged audio book and I’m so glad they’ve finally done one. Highly recommend.
