I’m the type of girl who’s given up on fairy tales. So when Beck – the hot new busboy at work - starts flirting with me, I know better than to get my hopes up. Happily ever afters aren’t for the average. I learned that the hard way. But how can I be expected to resist a man who can quote Austen, loves making me laugh, and seems to be everything hot and good in this world? Only there’s so much more to him than that. Billionaire playboy? Check. Troubled soul? Check.

Story
Returning home for her father’s wedding was never going to be easy for Adele. If being sent away at 18 hadn’t been bad enough, the mess she left behind when she made a pass at her dad’s business partner sure was. Fifteen years older than her, Pete had been her crush for as long as she could remember. But she’d misread the situation - confusing friendliness for undying love. Awkward. Seven years on, things are different. Adele is no longer a kid, but all it takes is seeing him again to bring back all those old feelings.

When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight -- telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass. You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend-smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Look up Landon Roderick, that boy from childhood whom I'd never been able to forget - even though he so easily forgot about me - and call him. Then again, anything sounds like a good idea when you've had a little too much wine before bed, right? It was supposed to be just a quick, meaningless prank call. Instead I went off on him - unloading 13 years of pent-up emotions. I didn't think he'd call me back.

Publisher's Summary
From best-selling author Kylie Scott comes the second book in her Dive Bar series!
When his younger brother loses interest in online dating, hot, bearded bartender extraordinaire Joe Collins intends only to log in to his account and shut it down. Until he reads about her.
Alex Parks is funny, friendly, and pretty much everything he's been looking for in a woman. And in no time at all, they're emailing up a storm, telling each other their deepest darkest secrets...apart from the one that really matters.
And when it comes to love, serving it straight up works better than with a twist.

Pretty good addition to the series :)
3.5-4 stars
This was a pretty good story but I will admit to some mixed feelings about one of the plot twists.
Alex is a web designer that lives in Seattle. Alex is kind of an introvert and her working from home doesn't help with that. Alex doesn't have many friends but she's had her BFF since high school, first as a gay boy and now (after a sex change and some time) as a straight female. Alex shies away from the idea of love and has had some one-nighters but not much in the way of relationships.
Joe is the bartender at his brother's bar as well as running the family construction business with his father. Joe is a good guy and has always been the one to clean up his brother's messes. This is how he ends up on his brother's dating profile (to close it down) and sees Alex's message and info. He's interested and starts corresponding with her but he figures they'll never be able to meet because she'd hate him when she found out the truth about who he really is.
Alex took a rare chance when she put a profile on a dating site and she didn't expect anything good but the messages from "Eric" seem too good to ignore. Alex finds a connection with "Eric" and they email each other over around 6 months, telling each other a lot about their lives including rather private things. Alex knows "Eric's" birthday is coming up and there's going to be a get-together in the bar he works at so she decides to take a chance and go to see him. She gets to the bar and walks in, only to have Eric act as though he has no idea who she is. It doesn't take long before the fact that Joe was actually the one emailing Alex comes out and poor Alex is humiliated. Joe tries to explain but she stomps off to a hotel (in the rain) and ignores him.
Alex had intended to fly home the very next day but that plan went a bit off kilter. Alex headed out of the hotel in the morning for breakfast and finds Joe slept in his truck outside the hotel all night in order to talk to her. She agrees to breakfast with him but the cold she woke up with ends up being much worse than expected and she almost passes out. This means Alex is too sick to fly home and it becomes necessary for Joe to nursing her back to health. Joe going to all the trouble to help her when she was really sick makes Alex decide to give him another chance and things go very well between them for a while. Things do go to hell, mainly caused by Joe suffering a big bout of relationship dumbassedness and hurting Alex. They do end up working things out and end the story heading towards a HEA together.
This was an enjoyable story. I liked Alex as the heroine. I do have to be honest though...I'm still debating about whether the way she handled the drama in the end was really mature or a bit masochistic. Even though he lied about who he was online, I did think Joe was a good guy. I was rather pissed about his actions when the drama all started though...definitely no questions about his actions, they were just plain stupid. Thankfully, he pulled his head out of his nether regions by the end but I did want to give him a good slap before that. I was really liking this story and was thinking on rating it 4-5 stars but my dislike of the plot twist that caused all the drama between Alex and Joe and how they came back together lowered that a bit. Still, I did like the story pretty well and the cast of characters was good as always so I guess I'd recommend it. :)

Did Alex Get Catfished?
Twist was so worth the year long wait. It was really great catching up with the Dive Bar crew. I love the catfish moment at the beginning of the book -- it was like a train wreck, you saw it coming but you just couldn't look away. Alex and Joe have some trust issues to deal with before they can get back to the ease they shared as internet friends. The story was made more intriguing by giving us their internet history in doses with intermittent flashbacks. This story wrapped me up and held me tight until the very end. And just for shits and giggles, Mal, Jimmy and Killer from the Stage Dive series make an appearance. Kylie Scott for President of the world, or at least the my audio world this week.
Andi Arndt does another amazing job! She just grabs your attention and never lets it go.
Most definitely worth the credit and multiple listens.

I LOVED EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF IT
Well done Ms. Scott.. in 4 days this sweet love story has received 104 5 star ratings and also lots of gushing and glowing book reviews from some very happy members - and there's no wonder. Because Alex and Joe's story was so addictive as Alex decides to get out of her comfort zone by paying her online mystery man a surprise visit after months of cyber-chatting to him via a dating website.. but when Alex arrives in Coeur D'Alene she's not the only one that gets a jaw-dropping surprise. And things go from bad to worse when she catches the flu and receives help from the last person she wants it from.
A very very enjoyable visit to Coeur D'Alene - this story had humor, heart and heat as two wonderfully entertaining main characters, who weren't initially attracted to each other, slowly got to know one another.. and, in doing so, felt the chemistry and saw that they were actually perfectly matched. Good secondary characters, a determined ex girlfriend brings angst, a bit of heartache and troubled waters, nicely building romance to a HEA ending.. and Andi Arndt brought the single POV storyline to life.
Worth a credit? Yup sue is.. and Kylie Scott is becoming an auto-download author for me.

I enjoyed this audiobook and the characters. Like visiting old friends, I love how the author brings in the Stage Drive characters. Alex and Joe were a great couple and I enjoyed how their story fell into place. I know this is their book but I think Nell & Eric's heartbreak was sort of fluffed over in this book. I would have liked a little more emotional scenes about the accident and aftermath. I also didn't love the change in Eric towards the end, while completely understandable it just felt weak for him to react that way. I really saw him as a tough character so that just didn't work for me.
As always Andi Arndt did a great job on the narration!

Kylie has me hooked again! FIVE HUGE STARS!!!!
Let me be clear before you read this. I am a die hard, fan girl of Kylie Scott. I loved her Stage Dive series and was bereft when it ended. Usually I am not such a fan of series romances, but each book is a stand alone but also includes past characters.
Twist is the second in her new "Dive Bar" series. Alex and Joe's story was unique, but still unfolded with her realistic, humorous wit that is uniquely Kylie Scott.
There is drama, there is real life situations, there is humor there is love, but most of all there is entertainment in reading and/or listening to the stories she pens.
I am not a book reviewer, however if you are looking for a book that uplifts your mood, makes you laugh and also empathize with life this is the author for you. I give this book and its performance by Andi Ardnt five enthusiastic stars. I would buy, use a credit before waiting for a sale!

Another Kylie Scott gem!!
I don't know what it is that I love about Kylie Scott's books. They're simple, sweet, and always have some humor, and I guess that's why I love them. They build in some angst without hanging it over your head, your mind and heart are always busy keeping up with everyone and everything going on. I love Joe in this story and how she came for "hot" brother Eric but found her true love in falling for the real Joe. Andi Arndt does an amazing job with covering so many distinct voices in this book, and as always - I just love her narration.

It was a good story like many of hers are. However, I like my romance novels without political commentary in them. I listen to her books for a break from reality. So, sadly I had to return this one.

Unsatisfying
I was excited about this one.. Joe is my kind of man, hardworking dependable.. It took me sometime to like Alex but I got there.. I was good up until (spoilers) the accident 180 crap..I understand the need for a some drama but Joe just deciding to just push Alex away all of a sudden and then the Ex.. I mean really , letting her give him a massage , WTF.. and all Alex does to help Joe even after he tells her to beat it..Yes, she leaves without a goodbye , not the best way to go but I can understand after being sh** on basically by Joe.. The ending didn’t do it for me either.. it seemed rushed and yes Joe does apologize and Alex does smack him but I didn’t like that 1, his friends just think she (Alex) should be expected to drop and beg for his forgiveness , NO, and 2, Alex is the one that makes the move and goes to Joe try and make an effort, NO AGAIN!!Joe should have been the one to reach out to her , go to her and beg for a second chance after he straight up ignores her for months after being a total douchebag to her.. I would not recommend unless you want to fell like me and that is wanting a rewrite and feeling totally unsatisfied after this reading.

Hero is an A-Hole & Heroine is a Doormat
Spoilers:
I normally love Kylie Scott’s books, but I HATED this one! The hero is a total a-hole the entire time (letting his ex-girlfriend stay with him at his house?!?!) & the heroine rarely shows any backbone, just telling Joe she trusts him & giving him his “space”. I kept thinking he’d redeem himself before the end, but nope, heroine still does everything to keep the relationship moving forward.

Great story!
This book was so romantic and as usual Kylie Scott made me laugh and cry at the same time. I think in the whole series Joe and Alex are my favourite couple. The tragedy that occurred in this story was really sad but as usual Kylie delivered a HEA. The narrator as usual was fantastic.

Delightful Twist
The Dive Bar series is on my list of favourite stories. As always, listening to Andi Arndt portray each character with her voice is such a bonus. Internally wishing however, Sebastian York's voice was used for Joe Collins and the other male characters throughout.

Once again Kylie Scott has delivered an awesome storyline. It feels like a lifetime waiting for a new release from Kylie . But when it happens so worth the wait . I loved andi arndt as always narrative perfection the only thing that could improve the story world be having a bit of the story told by Joe. Bring in more Kylie your always worth the wait
