Publisher's Summary

Two necromancers, a dragon, and a vampire - it sounds like a shortcut to disaster, and for Timmy, it’s certainly looking that way.

To earn his pardon and avoid becoming yet another necromancer statistic, Timmy has to work for the Council. From bandit uprisings to giant sea serpents and ogre invasions, Timmy and the others are there to save the day - sort of.

And despite relying on overly intelligent ninja rats, an elf who believes that fire is the answer to everything, a bureaucrat who struggles to stay conscious through an entire fight, and a precocious apprentice who has designs on his castle, property damage per mission is down, they haven’t blown up another mountain, and they’ve gone several missions without ripping a hole in reality.

Naturally, it won’t last.

When the dragon egg their resident pyromaniac stole hatches to reveal the world’s cuddliest harbinger of death, Timmy and the others are dragged into a pair of diabolically dangerous missions. Breaking out of one of the world’s most secure prisons was hard enough. Now, they have to break back in to rescue a vampire.

And then there’s the Eye of the Abyss. Does your country have a problem with a divine artefact capable of singlehandedly winning a war? Don’t worry. Just send Timmy and the gang. They’ll handle it, and Timmy might even get to live every necromancer’s dream with - zombie pirates.

Timmy and the others want their pardons, and they’re not going to let anyone stop them, not armies, not fleets, not even the most powerful empire the world has ever seen that just so happens to hold a centuries-old grudge against Everton.

The world is going to learn a very important lesson: never, ever underestimate a necromancer with a shovel and time to plan.

A brilliant continuation of a hilarious series

I loved this book and the fact it continued the humor that made me love the first one as well. I look forward to the next one and, most likely, all future books in this series.

Each book is better than the last!

These books are good, clean fun! Sure they can be a little gruesome at times, but the language is pretty clean and it doesn't get creepy. I would go as far to say as these books are a wholesome as books about necromancers can be!

Also, the narrator just brings the whole experience to another level. Keep them coming!

So fun!

I don't know where to start. The cast of characters are fun and quirky, the dialog is witty, and the plot is engaging. I don't think I've giggled so much at a book since Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I'm definitely looking forward to listening to the next book.

I also want to shout out to the narrator. His voices, whether male or female, are distinct and memorable. When it's a woman character speaking, he makes you forget it's a man doing the narration. He does a fantastic job.

Magic happened when the paths of LG and Fred crossed. The writing is witty, each character is loveable and Fred somehow adds to each character and his delivery had me laughing throughout the novel!

Better and Better

I don't usually get into this sort of story, I'm more of a Sci-fi space opera/war girl. I decided to dabble and tried this series, and since then I have loved these books. It is hilarious, serious, heartwarming and drama, all mixed up in a fantastical world of legends and myths. Halfway through this book, I purchased the remaining books in this series so I could listen to the rest of the story uninterrupted and I highly recommend it to anyone, even space geeks like myself.

Fun! Eye-roll Worthy!

Listen to this when you need a snarky, lightly mirthful book.

The series starts with a freeby (free is good!), books 1 & 2. I like the character development as it comes across as natural progression.

The reader does a phenomenal job; his tone of voice does a great job of communicating the emotions of the characters. Tied in with the quality of the story just makes this a fun book. Enjoy!

Goo again and better then last time

This book gets stuff done, it takes the humor, characters and sotry you like and turns it into something you love. It ads, stakes, plot amd plitical intrigue. It brings it further then the out of hand joke the first books was and improves on the world of the second book. Note here as well that the books gets actually good world building. However i found that there are a few hit or miss jokes. I believe most of it was still incredibly funny do. If you read the first two and are still doubting. Stop it this instamt and continue with this book

Building on great characters

The characters continue to be well developed and drive the narrative. The performance is just sublime and really helps the characters come alive. The story progresses further and the new character(s) add to the dynamics. It really is a fun tale that balances light and shade.

Silly, weird and entertaining

Like a low budget space opera where they put the word space in front of the name of things to make them seem space worthy, only difference being the lack of space and the use of zombies. Lots of zombies.
The language is a bit limited and the story doesn’t really contain any surprises, but the characters are lovely, although extremely powerful and dangerous.

The book isn’t that good, but I find it highly entertaining and I plan to read the next.

Wicked good fun

Ah such entertainment that does not last as long as you'd wish for. The narrator brings to life this series of books and I found that exceptional to the overall rating. The story is enjoyable on so many levels that I've listened to all 3 books twice in as many days.
