Story
When I first landed a bartending job at the local guild, I didn't know a thing about magic. These days, I'm practically an expert on the different magical classes, but there's one nobody ever talks about: Demonica. Turns out they have a good reason for that. My guild is strictly hellion-free, because who wants to risk life and limb to control the biggest bullies on the mythic playground? Well, some people do, and now a demon has been loosed in the city. My three best friends are determined to slay it, but even badass combat mages are critically out-magicked.

Story
When I arrived at my uncle's house, I expected my relatives to be like me - outcast sorcerers who don't practice magic. I was right about the sorcery, but wrong about everything else. Rule two: Don't listen to the demon. My uncle chose a far deadlier power. He calls creatures of darkness into our world, binds them into service contracts, and sells them to the highest bidder. And I'm supposed to act like I don't know how illegal and dangerous it is. Rule three: Don't talk to the demon. All I had to do was keep my nose out of it.

I'm not your average girl. My best friend is my switchblade. My favorite hobby is using it on the cruel, the abusive, and anyone who gets on my bad side. I'm a convicted murderer with a chip on my shoulder and a dangerous lack of restraint. And then there's Zak. His rap sheet makes mine look tame. The bounty on his head is worth more money than I'll ever make, and the deadly fae that shadow his every step wield more power than I'll ever know. On the outside, Dina Demille is the epitome of normal. She runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town, owns a Shih Tzu named Beast, and is a perfect neighbor, whose biggest problem should be what to serve her guests for breakfast. But Dina is...different: Her broom is a deadly weapon; her Inn is magic and thinks for itself. Meant to be a lodging for otherworldly visitors, the only permanent guest is a retired Galactic aristocrat who can’t leave the grounds because she’s responsible for the deaths of millions and someone might shoot her on sight.

Let's get one thing straight - Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact she's probably the last witch in the world you'd call if you needed a magical helping hand, regardless of her actual abilities. If it were down to Ivy, she'd spend all day every day on her sofa, where she could watch TV, munch junk food, and talk to her feline familiar to her heart's content. However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she's yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch.

I wouldn’t say my life is a dumpster fire — but it’s far from typical. I’m frenemies with the local werewolves’ Alpha, my clients are shady as hell, and my magic falls firmly in the WTF category. But my sister just lost everyone she loves, and she’s begging me to ask Samael for help. Whether I like it or not, I need Samael's resources. Publisher's Summary
Three months ago, I landed a job as a bartender. But not at a bar-at a guild. Yeah, the magic kind.
I'm not a badass mage like my three smokin' hot best friends. I'm not a sorcerer or an alchemist, or even a wussy witch. I'm just a human, slinging drinks like a pro and keeping my non-magical nose out of mythic business. Seriously, I know my limits.
So why am I currently standing in a black-magic ritual circle across from a fae lord?
Somewhere behind me, my three mage friends are battling for their lives. Somewhere near my feet is the rogue witch I just knocked out with a stolen spell. And I have about five seconds to convince this very angry sea god not to shmoosh me like a bug.
I'm pretty sure this wasn't part of the job description.

Main character is annoying as hell
I love a strong female lead, but Tori is inconsiderate, selfish, and reckless. This would all be fine, if she took ownership and actually learned from her mistakes. Parts of the tale are hard to get through because she is so thoughtless. It’s also hard to believe that the 3 mages would just overlook this and not hold her accountable. The tale is fun, but also tedious as a result.

Ghost returns
We know that Tori is impulsive, selfish, hard head, and reckless. And damnit she does not listen. I have a problem when a character, in this case Tori, is told to stay put and they don’t. It makes me grind my teeth. Tori’s abandonment issues will be the death of someone. She craves a sense of family. That is why she really wants to belong as a member of the guild and have some type of magic.
She was having a little pity party when she should have been paying attention. She got the guild committed to a job. It did not help that the witches who were requesting help, stroked her ego by hinting that Tori had influence with mages.
Tori’s physical safety is in jeopardy and all the guys, the guild and ghost, comes to her rescue. You can imagine the reactions of the guys when they first encounter ghost with her. Yep, it was a shit storm.
This story gives up information on Kai and a little history on the group. Other members of the guild, i.e. Darius have a more active role. Her brother makes an appearance. This provides and opportunity to see how the magic and regular communities work together.
Yea, there are the fights that we love from our guys. I love it when they open the car trunk and gear up. That is soooo badass. And ghost is the baddest. He does that melt into the darkness thing.
Aaron and Tori have some relationship issues to work out. For a woman who wants to belong, she has a problem with commitment issues.
Important rule: don’t try to enslave a fae

More Fae are introduced 🤗
Book three of the series starts with a surprise visit from the magical feds. Within the first 30 minutes we find ourselves trapped between a rock and a hard place. The witches are trying to bind a Fae Lord and the Feds are closing in on the guild. Most of all, the crew is separated and must work closely while not actually together.
I really enjoy this series. Though it seems to be following a reverse harem set up, it hasn't gone completely in that direction. I do like that the love interest have stayed open. It allows us not to become too attached to any given Male. I'd prefer that she didnt date any of the main characters. Break that mold of girls having to fall for their friends. We are capable of having Male friends without always wanting something romantic.
There were a few eye-rolling moments when it came to Tori's decision making. It felt a bit off character. At least the Tori character that's been developing in the first few books wouldn't react to things as the Tori in this book. Where she was once brave and self sufficient this book shows a needy and whiny side of her personality. Even though the series starts off with her rooming with her brother, she was still independent and paying her way. In this book she feels that she NEEDS the guys and cant seem to focus.
Other than the set back in Tori's personality I found the book enjoyable enough but not at good as the first. I do like that we get more background information of the guys and that it seems legit. The author gives us believable information that doesn't seemed forced.
The narrator, Chris Dukehart, does a good job. My favorite voice of hers is Twiggy. The "Slap Back" scene really made me laugh... "Cause its funny!" 🤣😂
3 Stars 🌟🌟🌟- Good Book. I like the overall concept and it was delivered well. Most common ranking for a book I enjoyed and look forward to the next.

Teen Urban Fantasy
Always easy listening. Love the Zack character... aka Ghost aka Crystal Druid... total badass.. some parts didn't fit, like including the witch at the park for the fay summoning.. I understood why she was there... for the betrayal factor, but the 3 mages seem too independent to include her... small stuff.
I binged listened to 3 audiobooks in the series.. so far..

I love all the action in this story and the characters are great, but the lead female is lacking. She is really selfish. Her libido is out of control and she does not even care how she is playing around with any of the guys in her life she considers her adopted family.
It is like one minute she wants to sleep with anyone that halfway looks decent and then the next moment she doesn't want to sleep with them because she wants to keep their relationship. I can tell you from dance if you consider a male your friend or adoptive family you do not lust over them cause that just makes it super weird. I am not saying you cannot appreciate their looks but you don't go and make out with them.
And then the writer did not give the lead female the balls enough to tell Aaron how she felt because she didn't want to date him anymore. What a disappointment. You would think she would have had enough care to actually let him know how she was feeling. I feel like the writer has not experience dealing with these type of relationships and they are badly making it up as they go. If the lead female ever does fall for someone we will not be able to believe her because she is all over the place.
Also, there was a scene where she gets mad at the through it and actually starts punching him in the face. The writer does try to justify it but really it was abusive at best. It is not okay to hit people like that because you do not like what they did to you. I am really starting to wonder about this writers emotional maturity especially if this book is supposed to be geared for teens.
I keep reading because the good parts are great, but please do better.

Simply fantastic
The first books pulled me into the series, the second, pushed me away a little. I'll admit I didn't really like Book 2. Because of that, I was nervous about this book. It, however, exceeded all expectations, a brilliant listen and cements itself as my favourite of the series so far. Fans of the series will not be disappointed.

Snark and magic
A human involved with a guild of mythics (magic users), she makes up for lack of magic with temper and courage. An engaging main character, with the help of her mythic friends, copes with more trouble than most people could and comes out of it ready for more. Actually, I think she *is* a mythic, with the magical talent of attracting trouble [ grin ].
I have enjoyed all three of the stories in this series and look forward to more.

This one's pretty good!
This one is pretty good! The vom in mouth is at a minimum. She manages to get across the notion that some of the characters are outrageously hot without making it feel like I'm reading a shady 1970s porno. This one I'm not returning. Keep it up.

Be careful what you witch for....
Tori is put on leave from the bar when the mage police come investigating & things go down hill from there. She's approached by two witches for help & somehow finds herself attached to a fae which is not as fun as one would hope Theres a few new characters & return of some old ones such as The Druid / Ghost / Nick. I love the friendship / banter between him & Tori. We get more information on Kai & when her 3 best mages are in trouble & all their lives hang in the balance, as usual Tori goes out on a limb to help kick some mage a** & finds herself in a place she never thought would happen. Can't wait to find out what happens next. More great narration from Cris Dukehart.

I've been living in a small town working for the vampires for the last six months. All I want is to save up enough to open an apothecary so I don't have to heal the neckers anymore. Of course, nothing in my life can be that simple. Two detectives show up at my door asking questions about a dead girl and trying to pin the murder on my employer. Next thing I know, I'm dodging fireballs in parking lots.
