Even the smartest among us can feel inept as we fail to figure out which light switch or oven burner to turn on, or whether to push, pull, or slide a door. The fault, argues this ingenious - even liberating - audiobook, lies not in ourselves, but in product design that ignores the needs of users and the principles of cognitive psychology. The Design of Everyday Things shows that good, usable design is possible. The rules are simple: make things visible, exploit natural relationships that couple function and control, and make intelligent use of constraints.

- An introduction to visual design principles
- How to get out of your head and design for real life
- How to put empathy at the center of your design process
- How UX designers can use their superpowers to foster social impact
- What are the user experience job opportunities out there and how to lend a high salary UX job
User experience is everywhere, from the dress you’re wearing to the smartphone you’re holding. As UX designers, we are the architects of everyday human interactions and experiences. And that gives us tremendous power.

Snore
The narrator voice is annoying. Like most things web tech, a lot of common sense design principles are given buzzwords and over importance. These concepts in a real world, non corporate environment aren’t easily executable for various reasons- the primary one being budget. In my opinion if you’re looking for a corporate world career in UX this book is helpful as general information.
