Story
Mankind has lorded over the land of Illian for a thousand years, building on the ruins left by the elves, as if it were their birthright. A thousand years is a long time for an immortal race to see the truth of things, a truth that has remained unsaid for a millennium - elves are superior. They are faster, stronger, and connected to the magical realm in a way that man could never grasp. Illian should belong to them.

Story
Aram thinks he’s nothing but a misfit from a small fishing village in a dark corner of the world. As far as Aram knows, he has nothing, with hardly a possession to his name other than a desire to make friends and be accepted by those around him, which is something he’s never known. But Aram is more. Much, much more. Unknown to him, Aram bears within him a gift so old and rare that many people would kill him for it, and there are others who would twist him to use for their own sinister purposes.

It has been 20 years since the end of the war. The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

Publisher's Summary
Sometimes the world needs a little chaos.
Holt and Ash saved the kingdom of Feorlen against all odds. Now they are outcasts, alone on an impossible quest to unite the Elder Dragons. But they are children playing in a game of Dragon Lords. Trapped between the riders, servants of Sovereign, and the scourge, even their luck cannot last forever. Their only hope is to advance their bond by any means necessary.
In Feorlen, Talia faces a world unaccepting of a rider queen. Her councilors will not heed her warnings of Sovereign. Foreign powers threaten war and bloodshed. Pleas sent to rider headquarters fall on deaf ears.
All the while Sovereign regathers his strength in an ancient fortress. Enthralled cultists swell his ranks. Disillusioned riders flock to his cause.
And his unwilling servant Osric Agravain scours the land for dragon eggs. There are new types of magic to be discovered, and Sovereign intends to control them all.
Only the mysterious half-dragon Rake has a plan to stop Sovereign. To pull it off, he’s going to need a team.
Unbound continues this best-selling dragon rider epic fantasy combining the best of Eragon and Pern with the hard magic of Brandon Sanderson and Will Wight.

Excellent
This was another home run in the continue story. Though there were some pros and cons
I’ll get the positive first . The story world building expands greatly and I love every inch of it.
Other characters grow more depth and become more interesting.
Cons in the beginning it is very slow going I didn’t feel like anything was really being accomplished until halfway through the book. It doesn’t have to be action packed every second but it just felt like I wasn’t getting any new information besides what ash was going to eat. Another thing that bothers me a little is how well holt can cook because he never started his apprenticeship but in the grand scheme it isn’t a problem because I like all the cooking that happens in the story.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series

Nothing new here
As much as I loved the first book, this one was just more of the same. Nothing new really happens. Seemed it could have been much shorter. We get to see Talia's journey a bit more but it's mostly castle politics and I found that a bit boring. As for Mr. Kenny's narration, for the first time ever, I got a little confused with some of his character voices. Not sure what happened. Holt and Ash got a little confusing.
I also think we spent a bit too much time with bad guys, and that dragged a bit. Left me feeling unsatisfied at times, I found my mind wandering and reading faster to get to a good part only for the main heroes to always fail. Frustration.
This one definitely suffered from lack of purpose for our main characters.

The Truth (spoiler free)
This book is a perfect continuation of the first I saw multiple reviews complaining about politics, character development, and boredom. I urge you ignore those reviews they are shortsighted and don't understand the nuance of world and character building, every character focused on develops in an organic way and people make mistakes that are true to the situation. Lastly, the magic system does make sense if you actually listen to the story and is built on previously established concepts. Overall, give both books a chance they are a breath of fresh air in the fantasy genre in my opinion and worse comes to worse just exchange the credit.

Narration is fantastic. The book is written super well; it has the different stage quality of those old adventure games many of us miss. The plot speed is gripping, but I can relax into it. This sequel lived up to its predecessor. I look forward to the next one(s).

Overall I skipped about half. Characters don’t develop at all and have the same issues over and over. Nothing is ever good enough for the main character, everything is his fault. Magic system doesn’t make sense. I would recommend not purchasing.

Excellent command of language.
As a long time reader, I really appreciate writers who put in the time and effort to express themselves without using the same three or four curse words in each paragraph. This story has no “lazy” writing in it and yet is riveting throughout. It is refreshing to find a book this exciting that I can refer to my grandchildren. I have wasted a lot of credits on Audible on books that I can’t get past the first chapter on due to the foul language. Thank you and keep up the great writing.

Great story progress
I continue to enjoy the relationship between Holt and Ash. Rake is an intriguing character and I am curious about the new Black Dragon. What power she will manifest and her personality. She seems positioned as a natural mate to Ash. Happy to see some maturation from The Queen Rider's Flame Dragon. Her mindless bravado was nerve racking and so reckless that it was difficult to enjoy her.

Do the job, and do it well.
So, you know how sequels don't live up to their expectations? well this is not the case with this book. Unbound was a wild ride, all sorts of emotions for me. It had reached all the cretiras of a fantasy book for me, big battles, grim dark tones, anti heroes, the whole 9. I give this book and it's predecessor 10-10. "DO THE JOB, AND DO THE JOB WELL."

Good sequel to the first book
I really like the first book and this one do not disappoint me.
The POV is split between three main characters and at first I didn't like getting the POV of one of these characters, he is very hard to relate to, but, as the story progressed, I learned to understand him. I think it gives depth to this character and I'm excited to see where it goes.
I’d recommend this bookserie.

Not nearly as good as the first
I really loved the first book, but this book splits the POV between three main characters. One of these characters is very hard to relate too and is the rider of the big bad evil Dragon. I found these chapters borderline unbearable to listen too, and I hated every second. I don't understand why I would be expected to care about the POV of this character when there are brilliantly written characters such as Holt and Ash. I loved some chapters of this book and hated others. Overall a decent sequel to the first, but not nearly as gripping. The narrator does a great job though!

amazing from start to end!
The return to the world of Holt and Ash is as immersive as ever, could not stop listening! The depth of the characters and their bonds, the pace of the story and the whole concept create the perfect dragon and rider universe. I truly feel that in this series the author have manage to combine all my favourite elements from other classic dragon tales such as the Dragons of Pern and Eragon. It will feel like a long wait for the next instalment of this series, but I suppose that will give me plenty of tie to cleanse and forge my ears to be ready for the next epic tale!

Great story
I would love to give this a 5 out of 5, especially because of the number of twists at the end and the spectacular performance, but it fell just short for two reasons. I removed half a star due to how predictable certain parts were such as the sense sharing or the "bard".
I removed another half star because of the negative stereotypes of the middle eastern characters.
first of all I'll make a case for why they certainly were middle eastern: havaa means air in Farsi (and Farsi --> Farsa) which is the language of the Persians. "Shah" is also the word used by Persians to mean kings or rulers.
second, I'll make a case for why I think it was a negative depiction: the Holt's first run in with one of these people is the guard who is rude until he knows Holt is there for trade (and bites his coin to make sure) which makes it seem the culture is just fake smiles for his money. then in the shops he meets only one shopkeeper that is nice to him, again making them seem money hungry. The crazy "praise him" chick is of course also from that culture and at one point she's described as having a "beak" nose. And yes while Havaa and Farsa are good, when the culture they come from is depicted so poorly, they become the definition of a "token" ethnic minority included for shits and giggles. I'm not super PC which is why I've only removed a half star for this, and why I will continue the series eagerly but I did feel like I should mention it as constructive criticism for the author.
unfortunately audible on Android doesn't automatically capitalise the first letter of the sentence (and only on audible so I don't have the muscle memory to do it out of habit) for some reason and I'm too lazy to correct them all so I am sorry for my laziness.
