Publisher's Summary

Jay Glazer—a top NFL insider on Fox NFL Sunday, an MMA coach, actor, and a veteran advocate and founder of MVP (Merging Vets and Players)—offers honest, in-your-face advice and insights gleaned from his fight through depression and anxiety, his successful careers in NFL journalism and business, as well as his work with military vets struggling with PTSD. The result is a relentless, unapologetic, and no-nonsense approach to overcoming your self-doubts, fears, and excuses…with the goal of becoming Unbreakable.

In Unbreakable, Jay Glazer talks directly to you, his teammates, and shares his truth. All the success from his screeching-and-swerving joyride through professional football, the media, the MMA fighting world, Hollywood, and the military-warrior community comes with a side of relentless depression and anxiety. Living in the gray, as Jay calls it, is just a constant for him. And in order to work through and work better, Jay knows he has to keep going, to be of service, to believe in himself when no one else will, and to be stronger, tougher, and more dedicated than anyone.

Unbreakable is his story of how he has done this in all of his many endeavors. A relentless insider who won’t quit talking or take his foot off the gas, whether detailing how he got his big break inside the NFL (it involves a friendship with Michael Strahan that seems too unlikely even for Hollywood), helping veterans fight for their lives in gyms around the country, or playing himself on the hit show Ballers, Jay’s ability to laugh at himself and take on his mental struggles has given him a clarity, toughness, and openness that few people can rival.

Throughout Unbreakable, Jay will use his stories—featuring some of the biggest, baddest, and most fascinating characters in the public eye today—to tackle the toughest subjects by making you laugh. He will also use them as motivation to outline a prescriptive plan for you to get to the top of your game, whatever your game is, and to stop making excuses. He will show you how to use your insecurities, your own battles with mental health, to get where you need to go, scars and all.

Especially scars and all.

Not what I expected

I was hoping to hear this and find some useful things to share with someone struggling with depression. While there were a few helpful tidbits, this was a biography of look how great I am. Even as a combat veteran, I didn’t find it tremendously helpful or insightful. More like: look at all the good I did with all the money I have. Look at all the things I’ve done with all the famous people I know. Not translatable to the common folk. As a side note, I think he did some pretty sophomoric things like sending number for a porn call site under the guise of critical info the nfl head coaches needed to know. Or texting stupid things to people. I would have throat punched him if he took my phone and sent inappropriate texts. I mean, really?? Not funny at all.
I finished it reluctantly because I can’t NOT finish a book, but highly disappointed.

Good story distracted by presentation

I found the message to be a good one and very impressive. I almost did nit listen to entire book due to unnecessary foul language. wouldn't recommend to anyone I know personally.

Excessive Profanity

Due to way too much profanity in this book I couldn’t past 1/4 of the book. I really tried to be mature & listen for the good . I felt so dirty listening to that. It makes a person get used to the vocabulary & soon your thoughts are thinking those words about other situations.

Absolutely amazing audio book.

One of the first audio books I've listened front to back. Jay does a great job describing the gray and ways to overcome it.

Simply wonderful would recommend to everyone

This book was simply amazing. I was able to relate to so much that was written and it was read very clearly. I am so grateful that this book was created and written and hope that everyone that is going through mental health struggles or know someone who is going through mental health struggles will read it so they can better understand it what we go through on a daily basis. Thank you so much for writing this

Authentic and Real Story

This is a great book! I've struggled with mental health issues for most of my life. Jay relates his experiences and advice in an extremely authentic way. He's very real and his compassionate and supportive nature really shine through. Especially in the audible version as you have the opportunity to hear him tell his story.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who may be struggling or feels they need guidance in life (whether dealing with mental health issues or not). There are invaluable messages contained in this book that I believe can help anyone.

Hoped for more

Just not an easy listen. Not as funny as he thinks he is, not as humble as thinks he is…I like him and wanted to hear his story but it ended up being a personal love story wrapped in motivational pretext.

Self help that isn't self righteous

The audio book is the only way to go, IMO. Jay puts across so much sincerity and makes you feel like he's sitting in the chair directly across from you. Lots of great advice (if you're willing to actually take it) and tons awesome stories from football, MMA, and his MVP program. It was almost impossible to turn off, and I listened to the whole thing in less than a day. Thank you Jay and Sarah!

A genuine life saver

This book is a must listen for anyone struggling with depression and/or anxiety, or living "in the grey" as Jay says. Tremendously entertaining and most importantly informative.

Mixed Results

The first half of this was very inspiring.
I could not come to grips with this guy's practical jokes, though, meant to ward off the author's depression but were humiliating his friends. Those jokes might have led to relationship breakups and job consequences for his friends. I did not want to hear much past this point. That said, the author does many great things and his work saves lives. I hope he rethinks the "jokes" though.
