Publisher's Summary

Get to know the Greek gods and goddesses, from the mighty Zeus, to the temperamental Poseidon, the beautiful Aphrodite, and every character from A to Z.

Who wouldn’t want to hear about Zeus and his command of lightning, Hades and how he found his bride, the wisdom of Athena, and so many other stories that capture the imagination.

These stories can do more than just entertain; they can also inspire and teach us lessons that were penned by the Greeks themselves.

Starting with the creation myth, this audiobook will take you through the stories of the Titans, introduce the Olympians, bring in the demigods, and sneak a peek at the monsters that made up the mythology.

You’ll learn who all the gods and goddesses were in relation to one another, mythological explanations for natural events, and why any of this still matters today.

In addition, you’ll discover:

  • The names, powers, and significance of all the major Greek gods and goddesses
  • Rich stories based around the Greek pantheon
  • Moral lessons and cultural values important to the Greeks, preserved in their mythology
  • A brief history of Greek civilization and how they worshipped their gods and goddesses
  • Creatures of Greek mythology that still feature in modern tales today
  • And so much more Greek history!

Up on Mount Olympus, along the shores of the Mediterranean, and deep in the Underworld, gods, goddesses, demigods, and creatures linger in the mind and stories of an ancient culture.

This culture gave us science, philosophy, and a rich mythology that never stops enticing us.

To appreciate the power of their stories for yourself and become absorbed in a world so like and yet unlike our own, buy this audiobook now.

I enjoyed this introduction

The audiobook is organized so my son didn’t have a hard time listening to it and finding what he specifically needs for his research paper.

Mind numbing nonsense

Not an introduction by any means. The book jumps right into it without any foundation or explanation for those of us lucky enough to not be burdened with this mess.
I just wanted some basic knowledge. Walking away even more confused but definitely sure that I can continue living just fine without understanding the need for these fairy tales.
Total nonsense.
I've never watched the Kardashians but I think even that worthless garbage is more meaningful or entertaining than this book.

One of my most favorite

This work appears upon cursory examination to be an encyclopedia of greek mythology rather than a cursive narrative, but as such, it seems quite useful for reference.

Couldn’t stop listening

Usually I pause my audible books here and there or will sometimes even divide them in a few days but it was not the case with this one. Greek mythology is a topic that i can never learn enough about and im always looking for new books to expand my knowledge on it, and Russo did a great job with this one. It has extensive and detailed information on all there is to know about Greek Gods, Goddesses and anything you can imagine in between. Im probably even getting the physical copy to actually read in a future again.

Great short summary of the Greek mythos

Overall it was great! Merged Hecate with Hera in Persephone's story and didn't mention any of the minor gods besides hestia and Dionysus where they play just as big if not more of a roll in most stories than the Olympians or titians. I would have adored the book of it did focus in a bit more on the deities (even minor) and culture in context. Most of what the book included was well researched and concise besides the mix up with Hecate.

Great book

The author obviously did his homework before putting this audiobook together. I found it be an intriguing amount of information. Although it was almost in the form on a verbal family tree.
