Publisher's Summary

In the latest F.B.I K-9 novel, Special Agent Meg Jennings and her search-and-rescue Labrador, Hawk, are drawn into a case involving a fortune in uncut gems, and an enemy whose power and ruthlessness know no bounds....

FBI handler Meg Jennings and her K-9 partner, Hawk, are drawn into a case that involves a fortune in uncut gems, and an enemy whose power and ruthlessness know no bounds....

Diamonds are no one’s best friend when the jewels in question are smuggled conflict gems. Meg Jennings and her Labrador, Hawk, have undertaken many search-and-rescue missions, but this case has an unusual twist. A Philadelphia syndicate is importing diamonds from war-torn African nations and selling them with fake certificates to Stateside dealers. Agent Finn Pierce of the Organized Crime Program is embedded with the syndicate, but being caught with a wire or tracking device would mean instant execution. If Meg, her partner Brian Foster, and their dogs can track Pierce to a deal location, they can break the smuggling chain while maintaining Pierce’s cover.

With the syndicate monitoring every move, it’s a risky operation with more players than Meg and Brian first assumed — on both sides of the law. And when one of their own gets caught in the line of fire, the team embarks on a desperate rescue mission, knowing that mere seconds are all that separate life and death....

Please bring back Angela Dawe!

A change in narrators mid-series always bugs me but I try to be patient. This is the second book narrated by Susan Bennett and she is not as smooth, flowing, or skilled as Dawe. It is not easy to differentiate characters now-they all sound the same.
It probably won’t stop me from the series because I really enjoy Driscoll and the series, but…

One of my favorite series!

I love the FBI K-9 Series. This book wasn't my favorite storyline but I still loved it. I am really loving the character development as well. Susan Bennett does a fair job narrating but I really miss Angela Dawe...if she can be brought back to narrate it would make it all that much better. I hope Sara Driscoll keeps going with this series!

Disappointing

I was so pleased and entertained by the first four books in this series, that I expected to have the same experience with this book. I was disappointed. If this has been the first book in the in the FBI K9 books that I'd listened too, I probably wouldn't have searched out the others. Driscoll's inclusion of the dogs throughout the entire book is commendable as always. Her explanations of the crime at hand and education of the listener are also commendable and add to the interest of the book. It's just that there was so much going on, it was hard to hold your attention and interest.

Bring back Angela Daw

Narration is important when buying audio books. I often don’t spend the extra money I’d the narrator is annoying or doesn’t match the tone of the character. It was hard to judge the story as it seemed less exciting and a little draggy. Possibly because of the narrator. She’s good but not for these type of stories. I missed the history you usually get in her stores too. If she’s narrating again I’ll just buy the e book.

Great read.

Story went quickly. I did feel a little disconnect on the diamonds theme but not much. Narrator is excellent.
