Two childhood friends discover that love - and family - can be found in unconventional ways in this timely, moving novel from the USA Today best-selling author of the “beautifully Southern, evocative Peachtree Bluff series” (Kristin Harmel, internationally best-selling author of The Winemaker’s Wife).

Recently separated Amelia Saxton, a dedicated journalist, never expected that uncovering the biggest story of her career would become deeply personal. But when she discovers that a cluster of embryos belonging to her childhood friend Parker and his late wife Greer have been deemed “abandoned”, she’s put in the unenviable position of telling Parker - and dredging up old wounds in the process.

Parker has been unable to move forward since the loss of his beloved wife three years ago. He has all but forgotten about the frozen embryos, but once Amelia reveals her discovery, he knows that if he ever wants to get a part of Greer back, he’ll need to accept his fate as a single father and find a surrogate.

Each dealing with their own private griefs, Parker and Amelia slowly begin to find solace in one another as they navigate an uncertain future against the backdrop of the pristine waters of their childhood home, Cape Carolina. The journey of self-discovery leads them to an unforgettable and life-changing lesson: Family - the one you’re born into and the one you choose - is always closer than you think.

From “the next major voice in Southern fiction” (Elin Hilderbrand, number one New York Times best-selling author), Under the Southern Sky is a fresh and unforgettable exploration of love, friendship, and the unbreakable ties that bind.

WOW! Worth more than a credit

Get it, stay with it, and when you finish this novel it will be one of those few books at the top of your favorites list.
I almost stopped listening after the first few chapters, but as the story unfolded, I realized the sad parts were needed to create the deep layers that unfolded into this well written and well narrated gem, “Under the Southern Sky” by Kristy Woodson Harvey.

Lacking

The book has a sad, dramatic harlequin romance mood throughout. There is no humor and the writing is just awful- cliched and cheesy at the same time. If you are looking for a light beachy summer read, this isn’t it.

Tediously repetitive!

I am not sure I have ever listened to a book that I couldn’t wait to end more than this one. It draws you in just enough to want to know how it ends and that is all. It just keeps on and on and on repeating and going back over the same feelings again and again and again.....yes I am repeating this on purpose to get you into the right frame of mind for this book. There are just too many books in the world to waste HOURS listening to this one.

a modern fairy tale beach read

Plot twists are predictable, characters are flat,
descriptive lists indicating opulent lifestyle were boring
and it's all happily ever after.

If I’m honest…

It was too long and drawn out for me. And if she said “if I’m honest” once she says it 100 times. Predictable , underwhelming & exhausting.

For my Southern Sisters, DONT MISS THIS BOOK!

So great because along with the family secrets, Southern way of life, interesting characters, with some different takes on the usual stereotypes. It is not the ordinary, expected, and boring, story. There are enough twists and turns, even at the end, to make it a delightful, yet easy listen. The accents are spot on! Great book to read during vacation, or to add to your collection of Southern women and their indomitable spirit.
