Provides in-depth and easy to understand information about anxiety in children as well as how to mitigate these and ensure a caring and fun environment for children to thrive in! I also like how the book provides parents with some examples of practices that they may be currently be doing that are unknowingly being learned by their children! Overall, an insightful book with plenty of useful parenting strategies.

Overall a great intro to anxiety and parenting, but with some audio issues

Jacobs starts by defining what anxiety is. For an average parent, her definition is good. For someone who studied psychology, it could definitely be improved. But the point of her book is not the definition of anxiety but how to navigate it.

Her conclusion is to give coping skills to children and their parents and to live with anxiety in a more functional way. Make it something concrete for kids, rather than this abstract, scary and uncontrollable monster. The value Jacobs gives is great, but the audio quality could use some touch ups.

The majority of the audio is spectacular. However, there are some key moments that should have been edited out of the final audio track. I am not looking for perfection, but the quality could certainly be improved at these key moments. Though there are these issues, the psychological perspective on the parent, child, and anxiety is solid.

Overall a great introduction to anxiety and parenting.

A very important book

Thank you, Elizabeth Jacobs, for helping raise our anxious children. We must watch how we speak to children as it can be imprinted on their self-image. Ask, don't demand, show empathy, and do not apologize for your feelings so that your children can honor their own feelings and feel understood. Empower your child: "You may have that anxiety, but you have many other strong qualities and accomplishments."

Highly Recommend! Hands down Amazing.

What I love most about this book is the different scenarios highlighted while making a point. The Author did great in giving anxiety about our children's color. Encompassed are situations on compassion, honesty, building relationships, and managing the children's fear. MUST READ.

Really helpful

Since the return to school since the break for covid I have found that my 15 year old daughter has become very anxious about certain projects in school and certain social settings. I wanted to try and help her overcome this anxiousness and help boost her self esteem and found this book to be really helpful. I learned a lot on what I should do and what I shouldn't do to help her. Would recommend.

Good information

It’s so important to understand anxiety because the person experiencing it often does not understand what is going on. This book especially helps parents to understand anxiety because a child may be going through anxiety and the parents may react negatively making the situation worse.

Useful for these trying times

Having worked in an educational setting for most of my adult life. I can appreciate that recent events and times have created the most trying anxieties in children unable to understand and can magnify adults' own anxieties and then become anxious. This book addresses what you can do to minimize your child's fears that can take them through as they continue to develop and that can be used throughout their lives.
