Story
It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.

Story
You Can’t Be Serious is a series of funny, consequential, awkward, and ridiculous stories from Kal Penn’s idiosyncratic life. It’s about being the grandson of Gandhian freedom fighters, and the son of immigrant parents: people who came to this country with very little and went very far - and whose vision of the American dream probably never included their son sliding off an oiled-up naked woman in the raunchy Ryan Reynolds movie Van Wilder…or getting a phone call from Air Force One as Kal flew with the country’s first Black president.

Just as I Am is my truth. It is me, plain and unvarnished, with the glitter and garland set aside. Here, I am indeed Cicely, the actress who has been blessed to grace the stage and screen for six decades. Yet I am also the church girl who once rarely spoke a word. I am the teenager who sought solace in the verses of the old hymn for which this book is named. I am a daughter and mother, a sister, and a friend. I am an observer of human nature and the dreamer of audacious dreams.

Publisher's Summary
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER •
In this thoughtful and revealing memoir, readers will accompany one of the world’s most recognizable women on her journey of self-discovery.
“I have always felt that life is a solitary journey, that we are each on a train, riding through our hours, our days, our years. We get on alone, we leave alone, and the decisions we make as we travel on the train are our responsibility alone."
A remarkable life story rooted in two different worlds, Unfinished offers insights into Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s childhood in India; her formative teenage years in the United States; and her return to India, where against all odds as a newcomer to the pageant world, she won the national and international beauty competitions that launched her global acting career. Whether reflecting on her nomadic early years or the challenges she has faced as she has doggedly pursued her calling, Priyanka shares her challenges and triumphs with warmth and honesty. The result is a book that is philosophical, sassy, inspiring, bold, and rebellious. Just like the author herself.
From her dual-continent twenty-year-long career as an actor and producer to her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, from losing her beloved father to cancer to marrying Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s story will inspire a generation around the world to gather their courage, embrace their ambition, and commit to the hard work of following their dreams.
Critic Reviews
“Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s memoir, Unfinished, is a moving story of her rise to fame.... [A] deeply open and honest account of her experience navigating life in the public eye, as well as the extreme hard work and dedication she put into her career.... Her writing is open, engaging, and full of energy. She writes, it seems, to connect.... Even those who are not already fans of Chopra Jonas will find reason to enjoy her story, one that chronicles a deep love of family and culture and a passion for standing up for what you believe in.” (Associated Press)
“[Chopra Jonas] reflects on how she catapulted herself into America’s entertainment industry with her charisma and resilience.... [Unfinished] exemplifies how she persisted in the face of her detractors.” (USA Today)
“Actor and producer Chopra Jonas’s memoir captures the excitement of an Indian teenager launched into fame and moving rapidly from a national to an international stage.... Chopra Jonas weaves in her personal struggles and family tragedies, thus revealing the depth behind her self-assurance and resilience.” (Booklist)

Worth it!!
If you have some curiosity regarding Priyanka...let me tell you you will love this book. I am Portuguese and my husband is Indian. I love Priyanka and he always dismisses it saying she’s just a pretty face and famous because she was a model. This book proved that wrong. She has a respectful path to stardom and she totally deserves it. I really enjoyed it , every tiny bit of it. And I shared some tears too. Very touching and made me respect her even more. Absolutely worth it.

Eye opening for parents/ Empowering for women
I loved the structure of the book and the deep intimacy! I cried at different parts and Priyanka's delivery just made it more real! I truly appreciated how every story tells a building block of Priyanka's personality, and how it took me through what I would have thought to be an easier glamorous life, to show that we all have our own struggles and challenges, they just come in different forms.
This book more than being about Priyanka, is truly also about the amazing work her mother and father put into her education and personality shaping, that's why I would highly recommend it for all parents out there :)
Thank you Priyanka for sharing your story (90% of it ;) ) and for doing so much good in the world and being bold enough to be yourself: you are a beautiful soul 💖 Keep shining! 💖

Great!
I knew who Priyanka Chopra was as I watched all her movies and have bought every single magazine cover she has been on in the States, but now it feels like i really know her...personally. This book goes through many layers in her life and she touches on each layer so beautifully. I'm in awe of the relationship she had with her dad and has with her mom and how she was raised. She had stayed true to herself not only in her journey throughout her public life but also in her words in this book. I loved the fact that she did the reading of her own book, it was as if she was talking to me personally. She highlighted all the heights of her life as well as the lows. I, being Indian myself, also grew up in the states. Not born here but moved here from a different country. I could relate to all of the bullying that Priyanka went through. There is comedy, sadness and power in this book. Not only does it tell a story of a girl who becomes a women in all her endeavors but it teach small life lesson in every step she look to achieving greatness, that every person should learn. Thank you Priyanka for telling your story and for really making a difference in my life. I have learned a great deal from you, especially when it comes to strengths and standing up for yourself. You will always be an inspiration to me as well as a person I will always look up to. I'm so glad you wrote this book. I hope that you write another!

I have never written a review. I never know how or where to start.
I’ve loved Priyanka Chopra ever since my little girl eyes saw the movie Fashion. I was so inspired by the storyline that I went on to do a little research about this beautiful woman I had just seen on TV. In my findings she had won Miss World 2000. She is from India and she is a cancer woman.
You are my 16 year old self dream. I had the dream to become a model not for the glitz and glamor of it but mostly for the fact that I could be the voice for so many who were unheard, unseen and forgotten.
After listening to the audible, it felt like my favorite childhood Bollywood star was reading to me. So intimate, raw and articulate.
I’ve learned that we are very much a like. Your value of family, culture, individuation and independence are the epitomes of what makes me who I am.
Listening to your works and involvement in the health and education of children especially girls is truly inspiring. It’s so beautiful to hear that you are doing all I had wish to see the people in the entertainment world do.
I love the fact that you mentioned that you share 90% of your life with the world and 10% of it is saved just for you. As it should be!
Vulnerability is true strength. Thank you for sharing your vulnerable moments of insecurity, failures, struggle with racism (and colorism), struggle in the patriarchal industry of entertainment, your resilience and drive and for always standing up for what you believe in. It’s when we have the courage to share our stories do we truly release and heal ourselves and the lives of so many who feel like they have been alone fighting the same fights, the same struggles.
Gratitude for your family and their support in your growth. It’s the way I feel about my own.
By the way, I made my way from your feature on Jay Shetty’s podcast. I finished listening to your memoir at 10pm last night. Thanks for releasing this gem. One love sister ✌🏼

Insipid and inauthentic
What a waste of time listening to a self - lauding ranting of an average Hollywood and Bollywood self styled ‘ star ‘ ! It was more insipid than inspiring ( if that was even the intention ) with so many untruths including her story about her plastic surgeries to all her conniving dalliances within Bollywood and beyond. Had she made it truly raw and truthful including admitting her wrong choices ( don’t we all ) , would have respected her and this book so much more . The serpentine descriptions of her average childhood experiences and family influences in poorly worded literature were equally cringeworthy . Truly Unfinished .... one you can’t sit through to the Finish for !
