Story
The world crashed to pieces on June 23rd and Adrian Ring wasn't anywhere near ready for it. He had no guns, no food, no friends around, a cat that wanted to slip out the back of the condo and a girlfriend trapped in the heart of the city. This is the story of how he survived. Real, flawed, and raw, Dark Recollections is Adrian's own story of how he survived after "That Day". Told through his eyes as he talks to his laptop, affectionately named "Mr. Journal".

Tesser, the dragon of life itself, is one of seven: Earth’s primordial draconic guardians, destined to oversee its development and safety. Species rose and fell, and 10,000 years ago...Tesser disappeared. The golden dragon woke up this morning, buried deep beneath the city of Boston, with no idea how he got there, and no idea how humanity grew so fast and learned so much while he was away. He is lost, a fish out of water. Where is the magic? He’s got a lot of catching up to do if he’s going to find his missing sister and stop an incursion of daemons from beyond the Veil.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

The Alt Apocalypse is the ground-breaking, genre-bending series from Tom Abrahams. It explores survival under the most extreme circumstances, but with a twist (and no cliff-hangers). This series, which can be listened to in any order, features the same core characters in each complete story. But every book dunks them into a new, alternate apocalypse; a nuclear holocaust, an earthquake, a flood, a wildfire, a hurricane, a plague, and even zombies.

Publisher's Summary
The apocalypse has ended for Adrian Ring, and the rebuilding of the world has begun. But have all the stories of the old world's death been told?
Elsewhere on Earth, there's a plane filled with innocents, and a criminal could wipe it from the skies with a tide of undeath. A young man in Manhattan is going mad with hunger and fear. A veterinarian races to save her animal patients and their owners one by one. A drunk lunatic is driven to self-destruction, craving the undead horde and the absolution they will give him. And finally, what of the long-awaited conclusion to Eddie Smith's tale, as his convoy heads north toward Adrian at Bastion?
Set in the world of Chris Philbrook's best-selling zombie epic Adrian's Undead Diary, Unhappy Endings tells these darkest of stories and many more.

Unhappy Endings. . . A Collaborative Win!
Absolutely Blown Away! Yep, this sentiment pretty much sums up how I felt right out of the gate, listening to the collaborative genius of the many talented authors, and/or collaborators, whose short stories appear in (Unhappy Endings) Volume 1. This combined effort, served to shine a bright spotlight on the the creative talents of each individual. . . . the final product, a collaborative anomaly.
The stories written for this volume took the levels of sheer terror, excitement and intrigue to whole new heights, with a no holds barred approach to shock value. After I would finish with one story, I would think: "there is no way the next one can be more mind-bending than this." Yet, everyone was equally shocking and spectacular!
There were certainly several stories which stood out to me on a personal level, for one reason or the other. In particular, the Zombies on the plane took that concept to dimensions I have never encountered in any other book. Just Wow! The ending was not what I was expecting and this one is definitely not for the faint of heart, for sure, and a real head spinning, adrenaline rush of a ride/flight!
Another centered around a sweet dog named Duke. This one had a profound impact on me, and will not soon be forgotten. . simply fantastic!
Invest a credit, and get ready to be propelled into new dimensions of sheer zombie spectacularity!
Chris Philbrook always delivers, and I am so, so glad I found his work!
Narrator, Mr. James Foster, always reigns supreme, and just such a natural!
Happy listening!

Solid Edition to the AUD Universe
This is a collection of short stories from the Adrian's Undead Diary universe. They are not all written by the primary author (Chris Philbrook) but they are all considered canon. These stories all have *spoiler alert* unhappy endings. Do you like what I did there? They are all well written. Some of them were so spot on I could not even tell they weren't written by Philbrook. So they are all solid stories. If you liked AUD, you need this. If you have not read any AUD, do not start here. Start with Dark Recollections. You can thank me later, because AUD is pretty much awesomeness.
James Foster is the Man. He narrates this like a boss.

Stand alone short stories
Any additional comments?
If you love "first day" and "outbreak" zombie stories you will love this collection from various writers with Philbrookian taste. One note, some of the stories and characters are left a bit open ended so if that bothers you - you've been warned. A couple of them are not for the faint of heart either - these are serious zombie stories. No sex - thank heavens, plenty of gore, and you don't have to have read Philbrook's other works to listen to this one. Well worth the credit, I would certainly buy the next collection. Immensely enjoyable!

Great idea and great stories!
I love that Chris Philbrook took some of his best fan fiction and used it in this book. He found some wonderful talent! I loved the poem "Peace" guessing on the title since I listened. The story about Duke, the dog, was one of my favorites.

Would you consider the audio edition of Unhappy Endings to be better than the print version?
Love the print editions but James Foster helps brings the story to life in a different way and brings a different experience. I love reading then listening to books.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Unhappy Endings?
I like the Rednecks group
What about James Foster’s performance did you like?
James is James and always bring a great experience to stories. He's one of my favorite narrators.
Who was the most memorable character of Unhappy Endings and why?
I enjoyed the last character the most, name just slipped me. The Self proclaimed Red Neck. He seems like someone Adrian would get along with. I also liked the construction worker and the guy he met up with who escaped in the police car, He also seems like someone that would get along with Adrian.
Any additional comments?
I'm dying for more. I want a nice 16hr long story with Adrian Ring, Abbey and to hear more stories about the 3 and more adventurous. This story is awesome and must continue but less religion and more of Chris's magical creations. as long as Adrian, abbey Kevin and Michelle stay alive lol. There is so much more that can be told because _hit happens! and there is a whole world out there.
