Story
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

Digby Graves, a deceased medieval peasant with delusions of grandeur, is trying to figure out how the hell he ended up in Seattle 800 years after his death. Also, why does he have necrotic magic coursing through his zombified body? Added to that is the fact that he made a terrible first impression the moment he woke up by lunging at the first person that came into biting range. Now, the curse he's unleashed is loose in the world.

Story
Felix's life on Earth had become a series of dead-end jobs, ruined relationships, and rotating apartments smaller than most postage stamps. By all accounts, even his own, he was a coward. Too afraid to move forward, to take risks. Yet when given the chance to choose between risking his life or walking away from a deadly encounter, he didn't hesitate. Moments before his untimely demise, Felix was snatched from earth and thrust into a magical world known only as "The Continent". Empowered by the "System", he learns that he can strengthen himself through combat and dedication.

Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

Death cultivator Grady Hake thought his problems would disappear when he and his friends became members of the strongest gang on the prison planet, but all it did was thrust them into the kill-or-be-killed world of the Eight-Legged Dragons. As Hake undergoes the trials of his gang, he'll discover there's a deadlier force on the prison planet than the death cultivator, even deadlier than the Angel of Death, and it wants his soul. Story
For more than 150 years I've served the Kingdom of Sena. Through four kings and a queen. Two wars and a rebellion. I've founded and taught at a magic school. I've fought against beast waves and dungeon breaks. But now? Now, the one close friend I had left has passed. So, I'm done with their politics and their economics. The short and busy lives of humans are more burden than benefit on the weary soul of this half-elf.

Publisher's Summary
Secrets and broken promises. Questions that need answers. Drive can overcome Destiny.
Gus is thrown back in action, still reeling from the sacrifices needed to protect the manor. He’s been thrust into a leadership position he feels ill-equipped to handle and finds himself in a race to find answers. The fraying threads of his past are unraveling, and one mistake can mean they’ll be lost forever.
He teams up with ‘"he Crew", a singular group of supers assisting Gus’ father - Tempest - as he seeks to right a wrong from the past...but it may be too late. The Crew is tasked with finding the hybrid’s secret headquarters, hacking impregnable AIs, and making deals with criminals all while in enemy territory.
Powerful forces are watching Gus and want him as a pawn in their global game of conspiracies against all supers. Against his will, he has become the tipping point everything is balanced upon.
It’s all in a day’s work for the average super, but Gus isn’t sure if he can rise to the occasion, or if the pressure will crush him.

Great world, irritating internal monologue
The world, narration, and storyline are actually extremely good. The universe, setup is all great. The problem that makes me almost put the book down several times are that the main character (MC) is so OVERLY self detrimental, and vacilates between brilliance and stupidity. As such we are forced for long sections to listen to his internal monologue where all growth never sticks, and the negatives could be summed in several lines, but takes forever. It's not that he has blind spots, that's a positive. It's that he, for no reason, backs out of revelations and self reflections where he realizes growth, and then acts like those entire parts of his life never happened. He is brilliant in many things, and thinks deeply about quite a bit, but for no reason given or shown immediately forgets the growth he just made less than a day before. This wouldn't be so bad, if the MC were dumb, or had some other issue causing it, but there isn't one. I also wouldn't be as annoyed if the author didn't spend EXTREME amounts of time on the internal dialogue where the MC is growing, and then putting himself down the next section. You actually see/hear his internal thoughts of growth and overcoming the negatives in his life for multiple minutes, and then for no reason, less than a day later in the story, he has a multi-minute self deprecation fest harping on how useless and pointless he is after just spending as much time realizing he isn't pathetic and that he is helping. Then he ignores his companions who tell him otherwise, or his campanions don't mention the growth he displayed in the past (even the one IN HIS HEAD who had to suffer through the long internal monologues as we do). The Author is spending way too much time setting up angst, and growth (that does nothing the next section), when the MC has actual world impacting issues to face.. And finally we get entire scenes where the MC doesn't use his signature powers because who knows why. If the narrator wasn't as good as he is and the universe setup so intriguing in it's possibilities, I'd probably drop it.

Stubblefield has leveled up!
If you've gotten this far in the series, you know that Gus has a lot of issues. To quote another character, he has the "angsty super act down pat!" In this book, we see him come to terms with his own idealistic dreams and do his best to justify the gifts he has received for the good of the world. With the prior books having fleshed out the world, there are almost none of the info dumps that were hard to deal with in the first book. The cast has grown to include wonderfully colorful and varied characters, and the accents are done excellent on the audio version. Congrats on another great release!

New characters to love
I feel like this was the best time to introduce all the new characters in this book and I think will become some favorites of everyone.
if you enjoyed all the references in the last books dont worry the well is far from dry.
The world Carl has made is quickly becoming something I will be engrossed in making the next in his series and any new series he makes a top pick to spend my credits on.

Superior evolution of a superhero story!
Small disclaimer I had received the books in a raffle.
Those that have read or listened to the first two books hopefully enjoy this one too it's still early so the world is still still expanding as well as the mechanics but the author in my opinion gives each place a good flavor and purpose developing the themes as well as balancing the old and new information introduced. The only setback to the developing mechanics is that there is less "crunchy" stats at times if that is a big must have for you but for some that's an improvement so that's not necessarily bad just a different flavor for different parts.
Overall if you enjoyed the first two the third is definitely worth listening to.

Super heroic Superheroes
Gus continues his growth, the villans get more numerous and the teams bonds break and regrow.
The story is building nicely, I look forward to the next book,
A couple of missing pieces of continuation, or are they? I guess only future books will reveal.
The book is well read again.
This series is one I can recommend.
