Publisher's Summary

Unleash the Power of Storytelling offers a practical roadmap to crafting and delivering more powerful, persuasive stories that you can use to get more of what you want out of your career and your life.

"In this engaging, no-nonsense, and often extremely funny handbook on the craft behind great stories, Rob Biesenbach shares his own storytelling roadmap without hesitation, giving you precisely what you need to raise your business storytelling to an art form." (Shonali Burke, ABC, president & CEO, Shonali Burke Consulting)

What can storytelling do for you?

Study after study confirms that stories have unparalleled power to break down walls, build trust, and influence people to act. More than facts and data alone, stories are fundamental to capturing and expressing our ideas, wishes, and beliefs and getting the results we want. The right story can help you nail a job interview, earn a raise, close a sale, strengthen relationships with customers and employees, become a more comfortable networker, rally a team, and more.

A practical guide for the busy professional.

Taking a fun, no-nonsense approach, Unleash the Power of Storytelling will teach you:

  • The hard science behind why stories work
  • A simple three-part structure for telling any story
  • The role of emotion in fueling great stories
  • How to cut the clutter and focus your story on the essentials
  • How and where to find great stories
  • Tips for delivering your stories in the most effective way possible

It also contains tons of practical examples showing you how to use stories in job interviews, presentations, customer calls, employee meetings - even how to craft the right story for a wedding toast or eulogy!

A must read for marketers, salespeople, speakers..

...and others. I've read or listened to multiple books about storytelling, this audiobook quickly became my favorite on the topic of storytelling. He presented simple, easy to implement formats to win hearts, change minds, and get results.

Gets stright to the point.

As a long time subscriber to Audible I get irritated by books that keep dancing around the topic with hitting it straight on the head. I was really happy that Rob didn't do that, he addressed storytelling from a very practical angle that filtered all fluff out.
This is the book that will surely improve your storytelling given the simple steps he offers across the book. Don't expect a book that will take you all the way to teach you who "invented" storytelling and how it played a role in human evolution since the Greeks or so (thank god it wasn't that kind of a book).

Captivating

I’m astonished I could use the word captivating to describe any how-to book at all. But Rob must have employed almost every tip and technique he offered the reader (or listener) because I was fascinated. I do know he related stories to the reader that illustrated points he made, and I very much enjoyed that, eagerly awaiting the next one. I was also glad he provided information applicable to many types of storytelling situations, not only presentations given in the work setting. I’d like to buy a physical copy of this book and go crazy with a highlighter, marking and underlining. This is good stuff!!!

A whole lot of fluff

For a book about storytelling, the example stories are pretty bland. The content is also very underwhelming.

Good book but was hoping for a little different twist

I enjoyed the book but felt it was more about telling stories, speaking. I wish it would’ve gave more examples of telling a story on selling something like on a new product. Yes, I can take somethings from it that I learned but I felt like I knew most of them. Making a PowerPoint to sell something into a company was hard to relate to the advise given.

Loved becoming aware

This book brought awareness into my life about being able to tell stories for any ocasion. More importantly I learned I have the potential to do so as I’m sure everyone else does.
C’mon, give it a shot.

Great for beginners

Brilliant book for the basics of story telling. Maybe a little basic for those experienced in sales and marketing. Still very valuable every day tips.

Great book, ironically full of stories.

A short and sweet book on the fundamentals of storytelling, intertwined with stories to reinforce the power and importance of storytelling.

Focused on work and professionals.

This book is focused on work and professionals. I didn't get any clear cut 'how to' or steps to take to turn your memories into great stories. If the blurb had of described the content being mainly focused on work relationships, I would have skipped this title.
