Publisher's Summary

He was my best friend, my best not-really-big-brother and my best protector. He was my best everything. He was mine.

Coming home is hard for Lane. Hard because Harry, her beloved uncle, has died suddenly, but also because of him. Kale.

Kale Hunt has been her best friend since childhood. But it was never that simple. He was Lane's reason for leaving home and moving to New York. Seeing him with someone else, in love with someone else, shouldn't have hurt. But it did. It really, really did. So she upped sticks and left, started a new life and cut herself off from her past.

But now she's back and all the feelings are right there. As if she had never left.

Emotions are running high for everyone, and tragedy has a funny way of bringing people together. But is Lane reading the signs right? Are they still just friends, or is there something more?

Uncle Harry Stars

5 Uncle Harry Stars

This book has gutted me in all the right ways; I don’t know I think I am going to have to just get my thoughts down. Then come back and makes sense of them so if something doesn’t make sense bear with me. ( I hope I made sense )

We deal with a lot of heavy issues in this book but not in an omg horribly upsetting way, but in a way that’s like life. And sometime fiction has to have a little reality.

Lane and Kale have been the best of friends from the time they were young. Lane has twin older brothers who are Kale's age, but Kale has always been Lane’s best friend.
Grown up he protected her like a brother would and that started to get a little weird for Lane when her feelings toward Kale were not brotherly.

“He was my best friend, my best not-really-big-brother, and my best protector.”

This book goes back and forth from younger times to older times. For me I am never a fan of that but the way this book is done it was perfect.
Now in her early 20’s she doesn’t live in England she had to get away after circumstances. She lives in New York as an editor. It’s her dream job, her love of books became her career.

But she was forced to come back home after some tragic news. And now she is forced to deal with the past and everything it brings.

“Being here is really difficult.”
“I know, honey, but deep down you knew you couldn’t stay away forever.”

The sorrow and heart ache. If you don’t know me, I am a huge softy, and this book had the tears a flowing. Not everyone will but I am just that kind of girl I cry… a lot. Ha. But this book is just so dang brilliant I can’t be mad with the tears because the last chapter.. Oh the last chapter..

But it’s also a book of hope and love and life and it’s just an all-round wonderful read. I don’t think this book is going to let me go for a long time. I feel like parts of it are going to pop in to my head from time to time and I am very ok with that.

'Kale was my best friend in the whole wide world
He was always the one to take my tears away and put a smile on my face.'

I also got the upgrade to audio best choice I ever made, not only does the narrator bring this story the emotion it deserves, her accent is aces. Especially because of the setting of the book. I will defiantly be looking in to more audio from this narrator.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion and I am allowed to have it.*

Terrible Narration ..... READ THE BOOK!!!

AMAZING!

It is not often that I fan girl over a book. This book is the exception. The narration almost caused me to walk away and not read the book. If I had done that I would have missed this beautiful love story. It literally had tears pouring down my face. That is how good the portrayal of Laney's emotions got to me.

This is the first book I have read by this author. It will not be the last. I do not often have a book that stays with me and touches me in the way this story did. It is extremely well written, very detailed and I became invested in this story without realizing!

This is a book I will buy in hardcover and keep. It is that good. Bravo Ms. Casey I cannot wait to read your next book!!

The audio is NOT credit worthy. If you have Kindle Unlimited you can read the book for free and the audio is included.

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't a cookie cutter story line that we've all heard a hundred times before. This is a sort of second chance romance that comes together because of tragedy. The characters were extremely flawed and I think that is what I loved most. They weren't perfect, they did dumb things like real people. Loved Harry even though he is not actually in the book but he was the one who saw everything and let it play out until it was time to fix things. I really enjoyed that the characters knew their mistakes and just needed to know it was ok to stop running from them. The only complaint I have is that I wanted more in the ending. I spent the entire book wanting them to get together and be in love and the minute they did.... The end! I wanted to see them together a little or even at least an epilogue!

The narrator was great for me, I don't know accents well or anything but she sounded good to my ears!

OMG....

Best book I have heard in a long time. It surprised me again and again. And I cried so hard through some of the chapters. This is definitely a book I will read/listen to again.

Not your typical romance

This story is compelling. It has sweet and tender as well as traumatic and emotionally distressing. I liked the characters and the narration was great. The various accents were well done imo.

My only complaint is that there was just way too much time in the past dealing with backstory. I don't really enjoy stories that go back and forth between past and present and this one does. Mostly it's in the present. I would have preferred to spend more time with the main characters getting to know each other again and resolving the past.

Many good things about this one

This book is so good...

This story was so real. The emotional roller coaster had me laughing, crying and thinking of all the similar experiences in my own life. This is by-far the best book I've listened to in a very long time. It is romance but there are so many things outside of that included that it feels true!!! Great book!!!!

Outstanding!

I absolutely love this writer! I've read this book and Frozen from L.A. Casey, both of which are written so well. Great writing! This author is ruining me for other romance novels because the stories are so much better. Can't wait to read more from this exceptional writer.

Sweet story.

I loved this book. It made me cry a couple times because I also had a beloved uncle who died too soon, but the story was sweet and well worth the cry. I will definitely look for more books from this author.

More than I was expecting!!! Well done LA Casey.

I had the pleasure to listen to this in audio book.. the narrator did a wonderful job so easy to understand.

I didn't know what to expect, the name doesn't give much away but I was in love with the story from page one.. the story itself is a beautiful one. wonderfully written and with so much love.. the right amount of sexy.. the Right amount of playfulness. and what's more important.. a HEA. who doesn't love a HEA?. I do..

I loved this story

I have read and listened to so many books, these also included books written by L. A. Casey she writes in such a way that you get into the book and forget that you are ready about fictional characters and just think that they are really, to a fact that you want to talk to them and console them as a friend for them to lean on you.

You get sucked into the story and lives of these lovely people and you can't help but read on and try to find out what happens next.

I cried so much in this book and they are for obvious reasons when or if you have read this book.

this book will give you a sense of FAMILY and that family is everything... to which I agree.

L. A. Casey I have read many of your books and to which comes to no surprise. I will continue on with reading, I hope for many more books to read in the near by future.

Most long winded book I've read in a long time

Omg this book is awful, it's so long winded and dragged out, I had so much trouble finishing it and it really wasn't worth making it till the end.

Tear jerker lovely story

Meant to be...
beautifully written and emotionally heavy - definitely a few ugly tears were shed. Narrator does a lovely job. It's so nice to have a story not based in America too with appropriate accents used.
