Publisher's Summary

Leah Buchanan's family has been in service to vampires for five centuries. Even so, Leah wants nothing to do with her family's legacy. But when she's summoned to her Selection by the Vampire Dominion, under familial pressure, she has no choice but to go.

Lucien has been living under the strict edicts of the Vampire Dominion for centuries, but he's tired of these ancient laws stripping away everything that is the essence of the vampire. So he's taking it back. And this is because Lucien has been watching and waiting for decades for Leah to become available for a Selection, and he will not be limited with what he can do with her. He will have her, all of her. Therefore, Lucien is going to tame Leah, even if he gets hunted and killed for doing it. What neither Leah nor Lucien expects is the strong bond that will form between them, connecting them on unprecedented levels for mortals or immortals. And what will grow between them means they will challenge their ways of life and their union will begin The Prophesies, which makes them one of three couples who will save humanity or die in the effort.

I so wanted to love this but Leah...

I really wanted to love this book because K.A. is the best and she never disappoints...however the first 7 or 8 hrs of the book was extremely painful ALL DUE to Leah. She was painstakingly annoying. I know the point is that she is headstrong and afraid to love because she doesn't want to get hurt but MY GOD she was EXHAUSTING.

And honesty this book was a bit redundant. I'm gonna stop here because I don't want to be too negative on a K.A. book but I just couldn't act like it was all good. Let's just say Lucien kept me listening.

40 Year Old Child

I haven't returned a book in over two years but I'm really considering it. The only thing that made this book was the narration and the alpha male. The female is 40 years old and through the majority of the book she is childish...well she didn't seem like she was 40. I got so tired of listening to her that I mainly fast forwarded until finally I was done with the book. While the premise was good the female character was lacking. I will not be continuing this series but will continue to be a KA fan.

Third Time Not the Charm

This is the 3rd book by this enormously profligate author I have tried to read. It is the first I finished, but barely. It is the last one I will attempt.

In the first two books I tried to read I thought she was over-wordy and tried to hide the lack of real plot and meaningful characters behind overly descriptive text.

The plot of this book called for detailed description. Since it had a fantasy element she needed to do some world building. But she did very little, so it was impossible to make believable characters in a world that was apparently identical to our world, except there were demons and vampires, we just hadn't noticed coexisting with us.

And she seems to use older than average heroines, which on one level I applaud. But especially in this book, her 40+ year old main character came across as an immature and ditsy 18 year old, and that is being generous.

By the shear volume of books she has released in the last few years, she must push one out every month or so. And it definitely shows

3 Until the Sun Falls from the Sky Stars

Hmm I am not sure how to review this one. I am a huge Kristen Ashley fan, and vampires too but I am just not sure.

I kind of felt like I was missing something, throughout the story I was waiting for it to be revealed but the “it” just never came.

I wasn't a huge Lucien fan in the beginning he was one I grew to like. Leah really was naive for someone of her age. I get that she was kicked out of her studies but for who her family it, it made me wonder how she didn't know things.

The ending had me hooked though, and it’s because of that that I will continue reading the rest of the series because now I have to know.

Abby Craden, hmm I am not sure. I liked parts of the narration and parts I didn't. I can’t really pin point what I didn't like, she was a bit breathy but that was just her voice. She didn't ruin the audio at all its not that.. Hmm maybe her male voice is what has me hmming so much.. Over all I am glad I got the book.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

UNTIL THE SUN CAME UP... I LISTENED & ENJOYED

Give me a Kristen Ashley book to listen to and I'm happy... couple this with my love for hot Alpha Vampires and I'm in book Heaven and, for me, this story didn't disappoint. 40 yr old Leah didn't want to go to the Choosing Ceremony where a Vampire would claim her as his Concubine.... a mansion, clothes, wealth, a car, a maid and she'd be looked after for the rest of her life just like all the women from her family had done for decades before her and, in return, she was supposed to be the willing blood donor to a Vampire. The only problem was that, unlike the rest of the mortals at the Ceremony, Leah wasn't happy, wasn't looking forward to her new life as a kept woman.... and was determined to get out of it.

Lucien was admired, respected and feared amongst his fellow Vampires and mortal women would swoon when they saw the brooding, handsome, charismatic, dangerous and sexy man walking by. He'd been watching and waiting for Leah for 20 years and the time had finally come to claim her... he thought it was going to be easy but he was about to get a shock because Leah didn't want any part of it. This started a battle of wills between a feisty, funny, strong independent woman and a powerful centuries old Vampire who was used to getting his own way... and yet he was loving and delighting in the chase, the challenge and the spirit that Leah was giving him. It was a refreshing change for Lucien, after centuries of willing women, to finally have someone who wasn't just going to suck up to him and give in to his desires as he sucked her blood and he was so looking forward to the challenge that was his Leah.

What a wonderfully entertaining and complex paranormal dual POV love story this was and there was no 'instant' anything here... well maybe hate and animosity from Leah towards her forced situation and the dictatorial Vampire that had made her his Concubine. And, as Lucien tried everything to coax the stubborn Leah into submission, there was lol humor, witty banter and a blossoming mutual respect and attraction that slowly grew between them. However, they weren't left alone to fight and f... out their differences because the Vampire Dominion had rules... rules that Lucien had no problems in breaking which brought outside threats from Vampires, from a bitter jealous ex and from Lucien's secrets and lies that Leah finally found out about during a very frightening and dangerous confrontation. There were sensual seductions, sex and eventually the bearing of hearts and souls as this unlikely couple became one loyal, loving and eager pair of the Prophesied Three (Vampire, Werewolf and a Werevamp) three couples that would save humanity in the War that was coming.

Worth a credit? You may have a problem with the 'forced' situation that made up this story but there was never a case of Lucien being brutal or raping Leah - instead he was often patient and thoughtful. And, IMO, this is Paranormal fiction at its best because KA has weaved an ingenious and intriguing web around a fascinating world that is in danger of collapse and annihilation. A HEA ending - but the War is coming so we will see more from this couple at the secondary storyline progresses - and great narration from Abby Craden too. So, YES, creditworthy... and I'm eagerly about to download the other 2 books in this fascinating Trilogy.

Hoping their story continues in the next books

I cannot believe I am going to make this statement about KA book but, in this particular case, I think this story ended too soon. I am hoping their story will be continued in the next couple of books because there is too much to come that was not shared. I truly think that this is likely the case. I am off to the next book, in the three, and I hope you choose to come along for the ride.

PS: My only complaint is the choice of the voice, used by the narrator, for the Heroine. It is a very immature voice for someone who holds 1/6 of the future of the world, in her hands.

What happen to the sweet strong female character KA usually have...?

Keep hoping Leah's personality will get better, 4hrs in and she's still so rude and annoying. I usually finish KA's book in 1 sitting. This time I've to stop so many times because I'm too annoyed with Leah

Very Very Long But Good

This is a really interesting story and of course well written. I enjoyed the mystery but the STUBBORN WOMAN WRECKED NY NERVES. Still it's a great story. I loved it. Now book two. P.S . Thank you Kristen for being an awesome author and putting the entire series out in one day. I love that about you👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

A painful listen, 4 hrs in, can't take anymore

What was most disappointing about Kristen Ashley’s story?

The story had a good premise, but the female protagonist was whiny, and a spoiled brat. A 40 year old woman should've been more cunning, reacted with more intelligence. She acted like a 12 year old. Sophomore effort on KA's part. Disappointing.

What character would you cut from Until the Sun Falls from the Sky?

Leah

A new take into the vampire world.

FYI The Author warns us that our Heroine is shallow, and emotionally stunted and why, not too far into the book. She evolves through some harsh realities, and with a little help from a few key characters. These character traits evidently amused the big V. If you have everything you want, what will wake an 800 plus year old vamp up.? All about making the Big V smile in a good way, if he is in the room, let alone near your throat. Evidently a 40 year old female who has tizzy fits. does the trick.. Some were lol funny some were just smugly. There are secrets that are revealed about the race but oh so slow. I kept thinking well darn, share that and avoid some of those untoward reactions. The story line is good. I am off to get the second book. The narrator is fine, just a bit of tin and tone off sets. But nothing that grated. Listen to the first chapter and you decide.. I am interested enough to see where this lands. I like the author. Just not every book. But when she hits it's outta the ball park. This one , we'll hope the second baseman is ready to run. Happy reading.

EPIC!!!!

This is a fabulous book!! Listen to all the good reviews!! Yes Leah is slightly annoying but tbh Lucien is so arrogant he deserves her distrust and her being stroppy. At the end of the day folks it's very entertaining!! Best vampire paranormal I have listened to in ages!!!!

Wrecking ball of a story.

Finally a book I have a real relationship with. I both love to hate it and hate to love it. The story is beautiful. But I can not take more of this angst and drama. I feel like this book held me hostage for a year. Which is the time it took me to finish listening to it. And finally I am free. Yes, I need the rant. Finally the day has come. I have no idea how often I have started on this book. It is glorious. The beginning is awesome. The end is rewarding. The heroine is totally wonderful, the hero is hot and glorious, and such an ass. If you feel like getting emotionally drained, this is your book. Just be warned the story is 16 hours and 26 minutes. With an awesome beginning and rewarding end, it is about 12 hours of passion and angst. Which is totally awesome. But emotionally draining. The narrator is out of this world. Which is why the story is such a nerve wrecking obsession. The author is truly brilliant too. Flawless story in every way. Beautifully written, with lovable main characters and host of supporting cast in an epic tale. Highly recommendable. In a year or so I will buy the rest of the series. Am that curious. But highly doubt I will ever read this story again. I am exhausted.

P.s.
Sorry, forgot to mention one of the best parts of the story. Humor. The story has this part comical heroine, she is absolutely fantastic. As one would have to be to get kicked out of studies for passing notes, at 40.

Narration off-putting

Had read book previously and loved it, therefore bought the audible version and found the narrator very annoying making what is an enjoyable book NOT in my opinion.

Enjoyed it a lot

It is an interesting story and quite different compared to KA normal genre but I enjoyed it. There parts that are a bit difficult to stomach that the author can get away with because it is a fantasy book. The Narration by Abby Craden is superb, I will definitely look for more books narrated by her.

Not a favourite

I love Kristen Ashley but I did struggle with this one. Part of the problem was getting my head around the idea of the MC being tied into the situation against her will which I'm not sure sat with me very well. The second was a narrator issue. Overall, the narrator was great, a calm voice that read the story well. The thing that irked me was the voice she used for the MC. You're told early on that she is 40, but the narrator voices her as if she's in her early 20s. Perhaps a minor issue but it meant I had to keep reminding myself throughout that she was older which took me out of the story.

Vampire Romance with Stress and Anks

The idea of this book pulled me in, a world where generations in select families act as concubines to the vampire world. Interesting idea.
Obviously our heroine Leah is reluctant. She has been seen by Lucian previously and the whole or lets say eighty percent of the story is the to and fro play between the couple.
Leah is supposed to be forty but heavens she acts like a teenager. Her continual anks got on my nerves but I really enjoyed Lucian. If you are looking for an action packed story then forget the first part of this book, however, if you enjoy the battle for supremacy between a Master and his Concubine then this is the book for you.

I am not sure if I will buy the next book in the series or not.

Very average

Found the whole book slightly frustrating. The concept of a vampire concubine could have been developed and layered into a really good read but the characters and storyline have no depth. Laya, the 40 yr old concubine (who irritatingly acts like a teenager throughout) has been born into a family steeped in the history of serving vampires for 400yrs yet miraculously knows absolutely nothing about her role and has to go to vampire school for 2 days to learn her trade (couldn’t she have just asked her mum, sisters, aunts, nieces who have all been concubines??) There is loads of sex, so much so that when the ‘main event’ eventually happens it’s a complete anticlimax. Despite all this I did listen to it until the end!

Beautiful story

I really like the story. At the start I find the female character a bit childish for 40 years old however she developed during the story . The romance between characters was hot but also beautiful . I also think that Abby Craden narrated this book so well her male voice was so good :)

The plot twist took my breath away

"How did you get expelled [from vampire concubine school]?"
"I was passing notes in class."
"Leiah, you are 40 years old."

I was laughing so hard I could barely return this title.

Not bad

So it it could be said there's a slight rape scene at the beginning. Still I thoroughly enjoyed this contemporary fantasy novel though I will admit that I feel the scene at the beginning could've been written differently. So for that reason 4 stars for the story.

I look forward to rereading the book again though so that didn't put me off.

Just magnificent

This was the best book ever.
It’s a beautiful love story and can’t wait to get it the next two in this series.
I also loved how Abby Craden narrated. She made the story come alive.
