Publisher's Summary

The ultimate pilot has arrived. An unprecedented connection between man and machine.

Five years ago, aliens destroyed a carrier and its airwing at Jupiter without warning.

Since then, the Earth’s nations have learned to work together, and they want to know more about the aliens who appeared, attacked, and vanished without a trace.

The Americans have provided a new carrier and a slew of space fighters. Chinese engine and gravity technology has made going after the invaders possible. And the Russians have developed a new control system for the American fighters that will give the craft never-before-seen capabilities.

Most importantly, this blend of technology has allowed for pilots to connect directly to their ships, amplifying their reflexes and giving them the ultimate edge in combat.

Mankind’s next war is upon us, and Uplink Squadron is the tip of the spear.

It’s time to plug in and save the world.

total sci-fi

Full sci-fi action, pilots that can jack into there jet? count me in.
this book was so good, I loved it alot. J.N. Chaney deserves an award for best sci-fi book this year.

Luke Daniel's narration is very exceptional. Luke is very adept it what he does. his narration is so good, he can do different accents and different voices effortlessly. He really is praiseworthy. I can't wait for more Luke Daniel's.

J.N. Chaney write characters really well. All the characters in his story have a depth to them, and I would be lying if I said he writing skills aren't up to par. I mean just the premise of this book, jacking up into the fighter jet and feeling immersed in it. That's just so cool, and J.N. Chaney writes it well. You can tell he's really a expert when it comes to sci-fi books.
I like the mc, he's cool and it's so awesome listening to him in his jet. He has a depth that most characters don't. I don't really read sci-fi books often but i can tell you this is a good one.
There is so good character development in this story also, you could see the Mc change with what he was doing and what he was going to do, alot of sci-fi books can't get the character development part down. This one can.

The plot is good, I liked it. it could've been a little better but it's still good, my only problem with it is I feel it didn't have the depth I was looking for. It was an overall good storyline but I thought it could've been better.
The world building is like nothing I've experienced before. I don't really read sci-fi books but I can tell that this world building is unreal. The way the world is build and the detail that goes into it is just so awesome.
I loved the ending to this book, I think the start and the middle part were good, but the ending was superb and I found myself wanting more and more until it ended.

The action in this book is something I didn't even know I needed, this book is action packed and I loved listening to it. the action was detailed, and I just wish it was longer so I could listen to more. after this I'm going to have to get more books like this but I'm not sure any can compare.

There is alot of more stuff I can talk about in this review, but I think this is more than enough for you to know if you wanna get this book. I think it's worth the credit. I think after you listen you're gonna want book 2. The reason I know is because I want book 2, I can't wait for it to come out, and when it does best believe I'll be back.

Horrible Narration!

I've been okay with the narration talents of Daniels in other productions, but not here. Instead of using simple regional accents, he goes to extremes in all cases, like he wanted to use all the tools in the box. from overdoing a Minnesota accent (please stop!) to a stoner, Brooklyn, you name it. he took them all too far. Plus, I feel he was simply wrong in adding humorous undertones in almost all situations.

In my mind, the strength of the story overshadowed the pathetic narration. There were so many times I was disgusted by the narrator I almost quit the book, but the story arc kept me interested.

I'm afraid this is the last book I'll listen to with this voice actor as the primary vocal talent.

pretty decent

what made me pick this book was the cover art use of the ADF-01 FALKEN from ace combat which uses the "coffin" system. the pilot uses a unlink and see using cameras ( white circles on the plane).the story kind of just jumps into it a bit fast for my taste. the accent of the different characters was a bit Saturday morning cartoonish. I'm still in the beginning but it's going well. UPDATE: well the book doesn't focus on the aliens at all and are mostly just a back drop for the story. we don't know why they attacked us and what how they look. then you throw in a 1950s level of different aliens and I'm like what? everyone throwing nukes around like candy and they focus to much on the SI and trying to be funny. it's a ok book but forgettable

Join the Space Force...Like Totally Rad Dude

If your going to do a military novel; at least have some knowledge of how military's work. Only made it a couple of hours and gave up.

My first Audiobook review...

An understated and well-written space opera. Not so far in our future as to be unrecognizable. I really want more books with this storyline. Nice voice performance, not overheated and adequately close to the characters. Hope this is not just a one time performance but starts a new series.

Mediocre at best...

It feels as though the author has half of this book locked up in their head, and forgot write those thoughts into the book. It has an okay plot line, but it seemed as though the were many important details that were either missing entirely, or they were randomly inserted throughout the story.

I actually intended to listen to the second book, since the plot actually started improving. I thought that maybe the next book would be better, as that is often how these things go. However, toward the end of the book, everything spelled straight into the toilet. I'm sure that other readers won't mind the emptiness of the characters and the lack of any linear character growth or any real explanation of the overall situation, but I prefer more story depth and details.

The narration was somewhat okay, but he made most of the characters sound as though they were one brain cell away from the status of "vegetable". He did have a comfortable voice to listen to though, so maybe your of book is just not his thing. I can absolutely see him doing considerably better on a different type of book. Maybe a LitRPG? Anyway, he wasn't terrible.

Overall, this was not by any means the worst book I've ever listened to or read. In fact, it was pretty somewhat kind of okay until the last ten chapters or so. This is just my opinion, though.

Such a pity!

I was really looking forward to listening to a story about pilots but from the beginning I was put off by the narration. I have listened to books narrated by Luke Daniels before and quite liked it. However, this time it sounded like he was gurgling underwater. He has exaggerated his attempts to change his voice to mimic various characters to such an extent that sometimes I could barely make out what he was reading. I could not get past chapter 3. I shall have to return it. What could have been a good story has been mangled beyond restoration.

Not a fan of the narration

I couldn't take 5 minutes of the voices. I mean I don't want to be mean but how do you say that you couldn't stomach it without sounding mean

Allright

Ok it was decent I like the story and the book there were a decent amount of funny parts. I would recommend the book and the series. So the narrator at first about made me want to stop listening he's not the greatest at Women's voices I definitely think this book would have been better better for a dual narrators Or maybe even a female narrator I guess at 1st it was hard to decipher between the 2 but as the book went on he did get better with better with them I guess it's just getting used to it So I guess if you're needing something to listen to overall overall I recommend it I guess we'll have to see where this series goes!!

Tried to listen but hated it

Have listened to full renegade series and LOVED it. Figured this would be similar but I couldn’t even listen to it. Made it a few chapters in and just hated the 2 main characters as they were so annoying and then the discussions about the brain and surgery were just too much for me. Maybe if it hadn’t moved so slowly, it might have been better.
