Publisher's Summary

A Warhammer 40,000 audiobook

Following on from Urdesh: The Serpent and the Saint, the focus is once again on a small handful of Space Marines in the city of Ghereppan on Urdesh. The Iron Snakes must decide for themselves if the cryptic message of Saint Sabbat can be taken for the truth or if the sinister Magister Sek is leading them all into a trap.

Listen to it because

This intimate story gives us a new perspective on how Space Marines fit into the broader context of an Astra Militarum-led war effort. The actions of a single squad of superhuman warriors can have far-reaching effects on the campaign.

The story

Saint Sabbat has brought a miracle to the war-torn city of Ghereppan, but one battle is not the war. The voice of Magister Sek still haunts the Imperial forces, defying their victory, mocking their faith.

Between the trickery of the Archenemy and the mercurial visions of the Saint, the Space Marines of Damocles Squad must find the truth: is this their one chance for a final victory on Urdesh, or is it a trap that could destroy them all?

Written by Matthew Farrer. Narrated by Harry Myers.

It's a long fight

I am glad I got to the end and I am proud of the characters and their achievements in this book. I always wondered how one of the Gaunt's Ghosts books got to where they were and now I know how it all played out. Reading or rather listening to this book was very rewarding.

much like the first.

The story Jumps all over and is hard to follow like the first book. I'd return both if I could.

decent story but voice actor ruins it

The voice actor was monotone and terribly boring to listen to, it was very difficult because of the monotonous drone of the authors voice to even enjoy or follow the story.

Snakes & eaters

World Eaters that is, and to be honest I was surprised that just one chaos marine albeit world eater could cause so much damage to the snakes? The story for me was much better than the first book and had a few mentions for Gaunts fans (me!) great narration by Harry Myers

chapters repeat and appear to be out of order

As title says, it's quite a annoying and I found I would be skipping around trying to find where I was meant to be I the story - be nice if this stuff was actually checked before it was released.
