Story
It's been around nine long months since the United States spiraled into chaos due to a cascading systems failure. From the recesses of a fractured government comes a plan to restore order and rescue what remains of the population. The first step comes with restoring power. But what if having access to electricity came at such a price that many - like Jim Powell, his friends, and his neighbors - would rather face a future in the dark.

Lauren Russell often wondered why her father had been so adamant about teaching her skills that most other fathers wouldn't even consider teaching their daughters. Ever since she was little, she had been taught how to live and survive outdoors, and how to use firearms to protect herself and those around her. Some of the training had been a bit extreme. Or had it been? Many of her questions were answered the day the world as she knew it ended.

When the pandemic hit, nobody was expecting it to be as bad as it was. The economy barely survived the lockdowns, but it staggered along until civil unrest shattered people’s hope of better times to come. With it being an election year, more and more Americans were waking up to the idea that they truly were behind the curve. The hope was if they did not get sick, run out of money, or could avoid violent mobs, they would be fine.

Teenager Amanda Castle was like a lot of people, posting pictures of her everyday life to a variety of social media sites. Not everyone who viewed her pictures was there to share in her experiences. One was there to steal her profile pictures. A terrorist in Frankfurt was desperate to please his leadership. He planned the perfect attack, one in which vulnerable people would be invited through social media to participate in a flash mob. There, the unwitting participants, thinking they were taking part in a random act of kindness, would find themselves engaged in a random act of terror.

The Alt Apocalypse is the ground-breaking, genre-bending series from Tom Abrahams. It explores survival under the most extreme circumstances, but with a twist (and no cliff-hangers). This series, which can be listened to in any order, features the same core characters in each complete story. But every book dunks them into a new, alternate apocalypse; a nuclear holocaust, an earthquake, a flood, a wildfire, a hurricane, a plague, and even zombies.

Publisher's Summary
In this fifth installment in The Borrowed World Series, human resources manager Alice Watkins is finally making it home. In her journey across Virginia, she experiences a country disintegrating and collapsing in on itself in the wake of a nationwide terror attack. Her trip home is agonizing; her experiences indescribable.
She finds that her peaceful farm community is experiencing the same strife as the rest of the nation. As her world is further shaken by a series of devastating occurrences, she comes to realize that she has been profoundly and irreversibly changed by her agonizing experiences on the road. She is both emotionally blunted and wickedly violent. She cannot feel love, nor does she feel the slightest remorse at taking someone's life.
In an attempt to find safety for her family, she must reconnect with the former coworkers that she started this journey with. She discovers the group struggling with their own problems, finding that in this borrowed world there is no promise of safety, no peace, and no promise of tomorrow.

Mr Horton Just Keep on Bringing It!!!
Where does Valley of Vengeance rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Among the best, along with all of the books of this series!
What other book might you compare Valley of Vengeance to and why?
The other four books of this series.
Which character – as performed by Kevin Pierce – was your favorite?
I can't really pick just one as Kevin does such a superb job with all of the characters. He's simply the best in the business!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I was really not expecting Alice's character to go the direction she did, not to give anything away.
Any additional comments?
I've listened to just about every post-apocalyptic series on audio book, or at least the ones worth listening to, and this is one of the best series there is. First of all, it's Kevin Pierce, secondly, it's Franklin Horton...top writer w/ the top narrator. Every book is filled with a roller coaster of emotions coupled with unexpected twists & turns. I hope this series never ends!

Excellent addition to the series.
This fifth volume of the Borrowed World Series centers on Alice Watkins, the Human Resources Manager who was one of the six that attended the seminar in Richmond before the terrorist attack. In summary it covers Alice’s prior misfortunes and then picks up with Alice on the road home. Alice’s troubles were not over by a long shot. There were more encounters before getting home and when she did finally make it the memories and visions would not let go of her. Alice’s psyche went through a lot of changes in the few weeks she was gone and the troubles continued. This is a sad chapter in the series, but it demonstrates the horrors and changes one can go through in such a crisis. The writing was so clear and the narration so descriptive that I felt sad for Alice. There were also sub-chapters relating to Jim, Gary and Randy, along with additions on Buddy and Lloyd. All-in-all a great addition to the series.

I was totally thrilled with Franklin's newest book
If you could sum up Valley of Vengeance in three words, what would they be?
Commitment To Excellence
Who was your favorite character and why?
Franklin has a gift for distributing the love for his characters, you can feel throughout the story how he works so hard to make each stand on their own merit . I really came to care for Alice a great deal in this story line, if you think about a woman surviving this type of trauma
and coming through in any fashion of normalcy you find just how strong her will to live is.
What does Kevin Pierce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
As many on here have heard me say in my many reviews, I do not read books I Listen!! So I
can tell you this about Kevin, when I am setting in my truck at lunch with my seat reclined its like watching a TV with no picture, but Kevin creates the characters so well in your mind you do not need it.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Easy"Valley of Vengeance" its perfect
Any additional comments?
Ok Franklin and Kevin, I can imagine more story lines coming from this series. You have the characters still so go forth and bring me more! Many thanks

If you could sum up Valley of Vengeance in three words, what would they be?
Awesome as always!!
Who was your favorite character and why?
I think in this one it was Alice...she was very brave!!
Which character – as performed by Kevin Pierce – was your favorite?
See above please!!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I did shed some tears...there were some tough losses!!
Any additional comments?
I love this writer/narrator combo and am always thrilled when the next book in this series comes out.....I am not sure with the way this one ended if we will be getting another one....I hope so, or at least a continuation of the Locker Nine series...This one showed how brutal a P/A can get and I was impressed with the bravery and courage of these characters...I listened all night long and could not put it down...It was Great!!!!
I RECOMMEND THIS ENTIRE SERIES!!!!
