Last I remember I was saving my high school crush from the path of an oncoming truck. Now I'm a skin-and-bones weakling wearing nothing but my hospital gown. Oh yeah, the world is also full of monsters, and I'm the only human left. It turns out a godlike System evacuated humanity but decided to leave the vegetable in the bed. I could crawl into a corner and wait to get eaten by a kobold, but after years of being asleep, I have a new appreciation for feeling alive. I'll have to find the tenacity to survive, the courage to fight, and the strength to face some dark truths about myself.

I woke up in a battlefield triage tent, bloody, battered, and crippled. It wasn't just my arm and shoulder that was broken, but also my mind. I couldn't remember anything—my name, who or where I was, or what had happened to me. Could things get worse? Of course they could. The battle wasn’t over, and it appeared that our enemy wasn't content with just a victory. No. They sought to wipe us out. But why? If I lived long enough, perhaps I would find out.

Publisher's Summary
Who knew running for your life and getting stabbed to death could be so...good?
As Thomas' life ends, the gods of another world swoop in and grab his soul. What they needed was a champion with the courage and strength to fight against the rising chaos in their world of Eternis. What they got was a college math student who spent more time gaming than he does studying. When they throw him into a new world, in a new body, at least they give him a familiar gaming interface. Or, it would have been familiar, if he hadn’t lost his memories from the trauma of his death.
Can he sort himself out and rise to the occasion without losing himself to the violence and duplicity that plagues the world of Eternis? Even the gods don’t know.

Misleading cover art & summary
Idk if the point was to surprise ppl, but IMO the target audience will just miss out on a gem
...the story is cultivation fantasy with game mechanics
Its a little simple, but the writing is solid. Narrator does a good job too.
I consume a lot of progression fantasy, and this one is not the best ever ...but it's not bad at all, definitely worth a credit

The number of times i wanted to tell the mc to shut up.
You know whats worse than arrogance? False humility. The longer things go the more I realize that reading a book where the mc is the center of the world, yes i hear what i’m saying, dosent feel worth while.

Missleading cover
I dont know why there is a wolf on the cover but there are no wolfs at all in the story. The summary was very vague maybe not to spoil the story but it was not a good summary of the book imo. I liked most of the book but the ending ruined it for me so I dont think I will get the next book. The narrator did a great job first narration ive heard from him but it was a great job.

Ok but bad ending.
This was okay but a little lacking on the character interaction. There was supposed to be a strong emotional connection forming between the main character in the archer and she showed interest in him but you just just didn’t feel it. The whole thing came across like somebody was following a check list. It was more time spent on describing the magical system then on building the characters relationships. It is worth getting the next book and seeing how it goes from there.

Great story ending hurt a lot Though:(
Spoiler alert … in the end amazing book not for faint of heart
If the main character goes down the ruthless anti hero path like I really hope he is it will be amazing but if he gets held back and doesn’t go destroy it’s horse shit having to loose supporting cast like that and not get extremely strong super fast cause you have hardened your heart and will do anything to slay the ones responsible… would just feel like a slap in the face I really didn’t like the depressing emotions I was subjected too there in the end but i really liked the last words of vengeance!!!!!!!

A very enjoyable story
I picked this up on a whim something different to try. I was pleasantly surprised with it.
The story has a good flow to it which made it easy to follow and become invested with the characters. It does follow a common theme but it was easy to start pulling for the MC. The MC is taken on a path that trains him for what's to come. There's heartache and joy. Friendship and dirty dealings that comes about. But it is well worth reading.
The narrator does a fantastic job of bringing the story to life. If they can continue this in the next book it will be great!
Well worth my rating of5*****.

Spoiler alert!
A lot of potential that I feel was wasted by a bit sloppy writing. The progression system was well thought out and I liked those parts. What issue I had was more with character development and side characters.
MC goes from a nobody to a beast with unlimited potential to a being of impeccable morals to a vengeful spirit. The rest of the characters around him gets introduced, quickly realises MC is now the new centre of their lives, then proceeds to die shortly. Many of the deaths of quite central figures seems to happen a bit haphazardly, with little buildup but still somehow predictably. The book ends with basically the MC dead as well, since the author now changed all of his motivations and you have no clue how he's going to act in the following book. Not sure if I will buy more in this series, since the MC gets a bit difficult to identify with, and everyone else you might like are now erased from the story.
