Publisher's Summary

Narah has been sold out by the most unlikely source, and faces a far graver punishment than her original sentence by Magistrate Oren.

Marc and Murphy have now been caught in the crosshairs of her new life and face dire consequences as a result. Opposing forces and their hidden agendas continue to move Narah like a chess piece toward an inevitable stalemate.

Can Narah return to her old life? Will she be hunted for an escape that was beyond her control - or will her tie to Aeslin and Matthews help her regain all that's she's lost - and more than she ever dreamed possible?

has promise, but didn't quite deliver

*** This Review is for Books 1 - 6 as they make up one story ***

Would I listen to it again: maybe
Did the story keep me engaged: not really
Was I invested in the characters: a little

Story comment: I'm not really sure what to say about this book ... and despite it being a "set", i'm calling it a book because you need all 6 to get a complete story.

It started out promising: Narah, an enforcer who tracks down the worst of the worst of criminals, has trouble coming at her on multiple fronts ...
• a sadistic magistrate wants to make an example of her for exceeding the number of "authorised kills" she has made in the name of doing her job;
• Matthews, a Hunter, is a member of a society out to eliminate supernaturals, by sterilising women who have the potential to be vampire mates and can produce vampire children is after her; and
• Aeslin, a member of an elite vampire squad tasked with turning woman into vampires for the benefit of their dwindling numbers, discovers Narah is the other half of his soul and wants her for himself.

When the main players and plot had been established I was intrigued, but it just didn't have the pace or depth I was expecting. I think this book would suit someone new to the genre, but as someone in their 40's who has been a paranormal fan for decades, this one just fell short of the mark for me.

I'm not sure the narrator was the best choice for this series. She has good inflections and intonations and has tried to give each character their own voice, but the voices were inconsistent, didn't particularly suit the characters personality and more than once I lost track of which character was speaking.
