Publisher's Summary

When an eccentric elderly widow claims she is being stalked, Detective Jack Warr is the only person willing to dig into the truth behind her wild claims.

Jack soon finds himself embroiled in an international drugs operation, art theft—and a murder investigation. On the back foot throughout, he is forced to play second fiddle to the Drug Squad, confront an old adversary and even fight off accusations of assault.

But Jack believes that every aspect of this multi-faceted case is simply a distraction from the one person who lies at the heart of it all—the widow's elusive stalker. Find him and the truth will come out....

Fast paced third outing for Jack Warr

Another books that keeps you listening as interlocking, seemingly disparate threads conjoin to produce a fascinating book. Enough threads left dangling to want book four NOW! Jack Warr’s work and home life collide once again in a non stop story. Slight trouble, once again with the narration of these Jack Warr books - English words with American pronunciation and Welsh place names mangled. This does stop the free flow sometimes, but with a story so good one keeps listening.

Enthralling Mystery

Very enjoyable listen. My only critisism may be a tad too long. Is there another book to come?

Poor narration spoiling a good story

I found in common with other reviewers that the narrator’s performance of this book fell short of other books I’ve listened to. A monotone voice which was just reading the book most of the time in a rather dispirited way. The plot fortunately was interesting with lots of detail added to the story of Jack and his family alongside the detective work.

Another great read in the Jack War series

Jack is both dark and light. We sometimes see flashes of his biological father in his character but overall he is influenced by his adoptive parents. This is highlighted by contrast with another character who is the subject of this book, Adam. Both Jack's and Adam' s biological mothers were unfit for motherhood but Jack was lucky enough to have been adopted. He recognises that his life could have taken a different turn were this not the case. I found the story riviting. I especially like that Jack is a maverick, always well intentioned but getting away with sailing too close to I'll gotten gain.

Great story

So compelling. Could stop listening but then would have to go back and re listen in case had missed something! Only 4 for performance as the readers voice was so dull!

Great story with narration to make you nod off

Love this series. Much more so than any of Lynda’s other novels. Great characters and story line.
But the narrator was another matter. A very flat delivery. Luckily the story was so good I had to plough on.
