Publisher's Summary

After taking the plunge to move away from home we all deserved that independence. That freedom. That ability to start over. But as much as we tried some of us just weren't that lucky. Demons tend to have a way of following you.

Emery’s experiencing the freedom of living away from home and on her own for the first time. In the midst of her carefree whirlwind romances and exhilarating party lifestyle she believes she’s at the top of her game. Being young and reckless is what college is all about after all, isn’t it?

When Emery crosses paths with Max she soon finds her world turned upside down. He’s everything she was never expecting and someone who refuses to disappear quietly. For Max, he’s done playing the victim of his own life and this time he’s damned determined to make sure he comes out ahead.

Inside the minds of two people who view the world through vastly different eyes, Vengeful Hearts is a new adult tale about lust, vengeance, and the twists and turns that follow after a night of reckless choices. It’ll leave you questioning who’s the real villain...and who will be the victor in the end?

I really loved this story. The characters are very believable and sound. You get caught up in the story and then you get to the end and go...wow I didn't see that coming. It was hard to put down, twists and turns, unexpected ending!
My friend also listening to this audiobook. I will definitely be checking out the authors other stories.

This book has a good character development

K.N. Licavoli weaves a suspenseful tale of love gone wrong that will have you quickly turning pages to find out what in the world she is going to do. I stayed up late to finish this one. Very well written with good character development and a quick paced plot!

Great book

The author has played off their dynamics well. Being a short story, it still delivered what it intended. An abused girl, an obsessed lover, and a friend form the triangle. This is a story well worth reading, and K.N. Licavoli is a talented author. I'm looking forward to reading more of her work.

This book stands amazingly well on its own

Vengeful Hearts is a really good story. K.N. Licavoli has an engaging writing style that swept all listeners and readers right up and planted them in the midst of the characters' world. The plot is current and relevant, and could easily be playing out in young people's lives at any given moment. I loved the honesty with which the author handled the content.

This book was wonderfully written

This book was wonderfully written. Each chapter, each jump in time, fell in perfect sync with the next. This book kept me awake well into the night. Vengeful Heart was a page eater. I devoured the words like they were the first meal I’d had today. By the end, I felt like I’d eaten a full course meal at a five diamond restaurant. So if you enjoy a unique stories, amazing storytelling, and characters that will have your mind, heart, and soul, then make sure you pick up this audiobook.

I loved all of the characters

I loved all of the characters and K.N. Licavoli really expands the concept of this book. I felt like I was watching a slow-burn Marvel movie the entire time. I did find the frequent time jumps between past and present, and it took a while to settle into the strange rhythm. The pacing was on the lagging end for my taste, but Licavoli really did meticulously work her way up to tying everything together for the grand finale.

The book was brilliant in prose and plot

The author expertly utilizes time to cultivate anticipation for the eventual culmination of the twists and turns of the story. However, I felt the strands of the story and characters were too broad and seemingly unrelated at times. It is hard to describe my feelings and thoughts about this book, while I thought the book was brilliant in prose and plot. Vengeful Heart introduces to us a cast of questionable characters who are neither good or bad but certainly not evil.

It makes you re-think your sense and your morality

K.N Licavoli's masterful writing allows the listeners to truly get inside the character’s head and understand the core of their soul and what drives their decision making. It makes you re-think your sense and your morality, for these characters didn’t want to cause death nor destruction. They just wanted revenge on the people who hurt them. Which is a very human thing to do something.

Fantastical book!

Vengeful Heart is a book that totally surprised me in the best of ways. I've owned this book for months but was kind of afraid to read because of the hype and my conflicted feelings about the Shades of Magic trilogy, but I decided that it was about time that I give this book a try, and I am so glad that I did because I loved it!

This is a world where no one is innocent, yet characters feel justified in their actions. Morally speaking it is a choice of Bad and Worse, and the reader is left to decide whose actions are most justified. Jealousy, self-righteousness, self-preservation, loyalty, betrayal, each character has a driving force and they are all very well crafted.

Overall I found this book to be a fast-paced and engaging fantasy story with amazingly deep and flawed characters. If you enjoy morally gray characters and anti-heroes like I do, this definitely is a book for you.

This was truly an engaging story!

This was truly an engaging story, and I loved the idea of two extraordinarily complex but unlikable, morally ambiguous anti-heroes as our main characters who both blur the lines between good and evil. In fact, I will say that this was a book in where there is no clear cut good vs. evil which made it incredibly fun. All in all, a solid 5-star read for me with an explosive ending, I highly recommended this book. I am sure that you will enjoy reading this.

The best novel I have ever read

The character creation and development is one of the strongest and most important aspects of this novel, and is definitely some of the best I have ever come across. The characterization relies heavily on moral ambiguity, and no one is truly heroic in the traditional sense of the word; there is typically an ulterior motive behind each character’s actions.
This is not your typical tale of good versus evil in fact, what makes this story so intriguing is the lack of clarity and specificity when it comes to the definitions of both. It is a novel about villains, revenge, and the dangers of extreme power.

Vengeful Hearts contains a very flawed characters.

Vengeful Hearts contains a very flawed group of individuals, and none of their negative qualities are sugar-coated. Their flaws are a driving force in the plot. This is the type of story that requires messed up and imperfect characters ones who are not distinctly good or bad and whose motives are questionable. That is exactly what she has succeeded in creating here, and it adds a great amount of depth to the story. Whether you like them or not, they are utterly fascinating, and you find yourself fully captivated by their plot lines, constantly wanting to know more.

K.N Licavoli is an absolutely brilliant writer!

K.N Licavoli is an absolutely brilliant writer with an incredibly addicting writing style that flows beautifully. She is spot on with her level of detail and description when it comes to her world and character building, and she masterfully creates a dark, chilling mood and atmosphere all the way through.

Her innovative ideas, particularly in the depiction of the super human abilities, make a well loved topic into a remarkable and unique reading experience. It is extremely difficult to base a story around villainous characters and requires major skill which she clearly has to do so. Her words, her details, her plot points, everything just flows so nicely.

This book was Awesome!

This book was Awesome! That was all pretty much in the synopsis and I don't really want to say anymore and spoil anything. But if you like villains who are heroes, you are gonna like this book. K.N Licavoli has become one of my favorite writers.

Her adult fantasy, sci-fi Shades of Magic series was so good. And I already have City of Ghosts that I cannot wait to read. Serious I recommend checking her books out. This book though, Wow! I was pulled in right from the start and did not want it to end.

The writing was easy but beautiful

First and foremost I absolutely love this book. It is so different from other kinds of books that I have read. This was my first book that was about a villain rather than the hero.K.N Licavoli has some amazing and beautiful writing. The characters are very well built and the plot is so different. This is a dark yet a sort of thought provoking book. The writing was easy but beautiful. The whole language was very natural to me. I really liked the structure of the book, with the rather short chapters going on in several different timelines.

There’s so much to say yet I don’t really know what to say.I think I have a new favorite I have to add to my ever growing list.

Wow this is pretty messed up!

There were so many times while reading this that I kept thinking. Wow this is pretty messed up, but I can’t help but want to know more! This was so different from anything I’ve read before and I loved how unique and dark and evil it was! There was something to reading about murderers and death and villains that drew me in and refused to be left alone. I guess sometimes it feels good to be bad! This unique book will be put in my author's shrine along with the rest of her masterpieces to be read again one day when I’m feeling particularly villainous.

I highly recommended this book

The book lives up to its title, because it is particularly brutal. There’s a lot of blood and violence this is definitely more Dead pool than The Dark Knight. I don’t want to say too much because I feel it would be easy to spoil some of the twists in the book. I did think it started slow, though I realized that K.N Licavoli was taking her time laying down the rules of how this world works. It was engaging, but it did feel like it took a while to get to the action. But man, once the action started, it just kept coming.

The ending was fast-paced, tightly plotted, and completely fitting.I highly recommended and I will surely recommend this book to all my friends.

This book simply reminded me why I love reading.

This story is very much about discovering the fine line between heroes and villains and questioning what exactly makes someone a villain or a hero. And I love all the morals and ideas that come with this because it's very rare to find a book that dives so deep into this topic. The idea of this story being about super villains as opposed to super heroes is what had me interested right away. I had no idea how twisted and crazy and cruel these characters could be! I am so impressed with this story because it's truly magnificent. It has all the elements that make a story amazing: interesting and unique characters, suspenseful writing that keeps you turning the pages, an intriguing opening chapter, and a shocking ending. Right from the beginning with the graveyard scene I was immediately curious and intrigued and it was a very mysterious introduction to the story which I loved.

I think it's safe to say that this book is full of surprises and twists and turns that will constantly keep you guessing. Its easily one of my favorite books of the year, and arguably of all time. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did, but I am so impressed.
