Short But Sweet!!!

I love coming a cross a great new series, and the first book in the "Venom" series did not disappoint. It was a great introduction into this world with vampires, shape shifters, and even gargoyles.

The characters were very likable; especially the members of the band! I can't wait to listen to the other stories to see how these characters develop.

One thing I really loved about this story is you get the POV from both the lead female and male characters and it's not just one person's point of view. I love stories that give more than one POV.

This is the first book I listened to narrated by Meghan Kelly, and thought she did a wonderful job. I will certainly be on the lookout for other books she narrates.

The only negative for me, and it's more of a preference, this series may be more of a YA, which is usually not my first pick.

This audiobook is full of supernatural characters! They are mostly vamps, but there is a lycan too. The story starts with Melody dying to hook up with Slade the lead singer of Venom....she is out for a girls night and does not come home the next day...her cousin Chelsea is concerned about her, so her and her friend go to the club Melody was at to kind of investigate....And that's where the interesting part begins.

Excellent Story and Narration in this 1st book.

I very much enjoyed this first book of the Venom series. At just over two hours long it was a quick listen that was over before I knew it.

This one is difficult for me to review without giving some spoilers since the book was so fast and so full of hilites. However, I will say that Kristen Middleton does an excellent job of setting up what will happen in the rest of the series. I find myself caring very much what happens to Melody and Chelsea in the upcoming books.

Meghan Kelley does a fine job of narrating this first volume. Even her male voices are believable.

I am looking forward to picking up the story in the next book, which I will start listening to either today or tomorrow. I have some other books to catch up as well.

A Paranormal novella

Venom: Vampire Romance Book 1 is the first in the Venom series. When her cousin Melody goes missing, Chelsey Fairfax goes out to find her. Sneaking into Club Nightshade, Chelsey and her friend Susan search for clues to Melody's disappearance. Venom, a hot new band from Europe, is playing at the club and might just have the answers Chelsey is looking for. Will she find Melody in time?

Ms. Middleton has written a good first book in this series. She develops the characters well giving them depth personality. At a little over 2 hours, I call this a novella as it is a book that could be listened to in one sitting. I see that the next book is over 6 hours long and I can't wait to hear what happens next.

Ms. Kelly has yet to fail for me as a narrator. She is great at giving each character their own voice. She has a way of drawing you into the story. I feel that while YA/New Adult is her best genre to read, if she read the phone book you wouldn't be disappointed.

A great paranormal read...

This is an exciting and fast moving paranormal read. It involves vampires, shifters, and murders. A young girl sneaks into a nightclub to see a rock band and turns up missing. Suddenly people are turning up dead everywhere....

This is my first read by this author, Kristen Middleton. She does a good job at capturing my interest and I find myself sitting here wondering what happened. The narrator, Meghan Kelly delivers this story to us flawlessly using multiple voices and accents and lots of emotions. I am off to read book 2: Slade...

I love both Vampires & Rock Stars so..... the story even though it wasn't enough, I think it will be awesome!

I've listened to most of Meghan Kelly's performances and in my opinion her voice is wonderful and sexy and makes the books even better than they already are.

Loved It!!

This was a Sexy, action packed, yummy book!! It will definitely keep you on your toes!! The chemistry is SO HOT!! I'm new to Kristin, but I CAN NOT wait for the next installment in this series!! It will truly keep you wanting more!! The narrator Meghan Kelly has quickly become one of my favorites!! I find myself wanting to listen to ALL her books, even if they aren't one of my usual genre's! " She just has THAT voice!!

A fun and interesting vampire story!

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

At first, I took a look at the book cover and was a little worried that I got myself into a cheesy romance novel. I was pleasantly surprised! This was a fun and short novel that made me think of a blend between Storm Front (by Jim Butcher) and Moon Called (by Patricia Biggs) (though much closer to Storm Front than Moon Called, in my opinion). The main difference with the book Venom is that the overall main character is not the magical/paranormal/supernatural type of character – she is just a regular person.

I liked how this book was written and it kept me interested the entire way through. I felt a little lost during one of the action scenes and a little confused (it was likely due to me being distracted) but it was explained enough in the book that I knew what had happened and did not stay lost. I really enjoyed the different POV approach between the book’s two main characters. This allowed the book to stay in first person and allowed to see different sides of the story.

The narrator was terrific! I thought she did a great job at changing her voice between different female characters and different male characters. This is something you don’t see very often.

Just one stray observation: I really like how the main character is “barely five feet tall” and that her mom is nearly as short! Thanks for the free audiobook! I look forward to reading more in this series.
