Amazing and Life Changing

This book is life changing. Many may criticize this book for spreading false doctrine, but I find that it motivates one to do better, to live better, to seek righteousness, to study the Scriptures, to pray more deeply, and to seek the face of God.

Don't beleive it

Would you ever listen to anything by John Pontius again?

No

Any additional comments?

I thought I was liking the book reading the first few chapters but as it went on it became more delusional. "Spencer" sets himself up to be the Savior in many ways and elevates himself above prophets and apostles. Plus it is just unreasonable to think God would reveal this kind of information to someone and create chaos if in fact it were true because people would be fighting for the "red ticket". God is a God of order, disseminating this kind of information would create chaos and we are taught there are proper channels. I wanted to like it at first but the more I read the more sick it made me. It is convenient for the man who had these experiences to be anonymous so there is no way anyone could "verify" or dispel his story.

Thought provoking!

I get something new our of it every time I listen to it. The reader is rather dry and nearly monotone, but the whole story draws me in anyway. I know it's only one mans interpretation of potential past present and future events, but there is real truth in it. I've come across many of his discoveries about the eternal nature of god and the spirit world prior to reading this as well as since in my own studies and experiences. I think it is very relevant to the gospel.

Bogus

At first I thought this book was fascinating- then it took a left turn to weird town and never got back on the right road. I promise all Mormons are not like this.

I have a hard time believing

I just felt it was too much over religious zealots on creating fear in the last days . I have a hard time believing that they would have the vision of The second coming over out current leaders .. Interesting story line , but it's more fiction to me .. I just didn't feel the spirit testifying the truth if it.

Great book, isn't totally true

Having read it and read the criticisms about it, I can say it's an interesting book with possibly a few truths here and there, but it is not inspired of God. Here is a link to the reasons as to why not: https://www.fairmormon.org/archive/publications/spencers-visions-of-glory

I read this book with an open mind, giving it the benefit of the doubt. As I read through it I felt at least a few parts were true, especially when Spencer described Christ. I also very much enjoyed the way he described the spiritual plane of existence. I honestly think that part has a lot of truth to it, but again I don't know and could easily be wrong about that.

I also enjoyed his description of the calamities before the second coming. I saw a lot of parallels to the time described in the early chapters of 3 Nephi in the Book of Mormon. I also enjoyed how he never received anything for free. The spiritual gifts he received where received line upon line and bit by bit.

However, I know personally that one of the best ways to deceive someone is to hide a few lies under many layers of truth. Something said in the website mentioned earlier really stood out to me:

“First, he sustains the living prophet and his preeminent calling in revealing the word of God to the Church. These visions were given to Spencer to prepare him personally for what lay ahead in his own life” (13).

If this is so, it makes little sense for Spencer to spread them about. If he sustains the president of the Church and does not wish to challenge him, he would not reveal and disclose things that he says were for him alone. Leaders of the Church have been clear that the revelation of such matters, even if true, is never the privilege of anyone save the President of the Church.

This is undeniably true. While I did read and enjoy this book it is most definitely not doctrine and should be read more as a fictitious novel.

Great book

It was a great book. I bought the audio version and listened to it on a long road trip. Gives great insight into the future and is just the kick in the butt I needed to get me back on track.

Mind blowing detail to the Gospel!

The most amazing and eye opening detail to the Gospel. This book will strengthen testimony and make you want to be a better person and live a righteous life. The depth to the plan of salvation and latter day events is revealed a little more and is a gift of knowledge to those who seek such understanding.
