Random and not progressive

There are few titles out there to help get up to speed with Dutch. This one runs you through a bunch of words (which is good) but there is no progressive approach or regular review as there is with a Pimsleur-type program. Boring but somewhat effective if you can push through it.

Excellent supplement for language learning

I first started using level one of this program (on cassette!) in 1995 before my first trip to the Netherlands. It's a great way to add to your raw vocabulary. It has to be supplemented with a study of grammar and usage, which you can do with other programs like Duolingo or immersion/conversation with a Dutch speaker. The most important thing here is that they give you the correct article (de/het) with the nouns, so you can memorize them together - as a native English speaker this is still the part of the language that causes me the most frustration. The cassettes came with a booklet so that you could see the spelling for the words, I miss that with this Audible version. But otherwise it's a great supplement for your language learning, and I love that it also includes some Dutch sayings/phrases.

Dreadful

Book is the wrong term. This is nothing more than an aural vocabulary list. For me at least, useless.
