Publisher's Summary

A heart-stopping thriller with so many twists and turns it will leave you breathless.

When Dionne married a nightclub owner, Luke Mason, a whisper in her ear told her she would have it all - the money, the house and the luxury lifestyle. But she never expected her life to turn upside down the day they became parents to twins. After a Mason family member is murdered, a psychiatrist is asked to assist with the investigation. Dr Renee, a research psychiatrist, has spent her life’s work studying the existence of the ‘Gemini Gene’ - a gene believed to exist in a few high-functioning psychopaths. Little does she know that she is not alone in her quest. In the shadows lurks someone who also has a special interest in the gene. Will Dr Renee discover if the Gemini Gene exists, or will it be the voice of reason who has the answers?

There is a twist

This kept my interest. There are lots of twist and turns that makes it difficult to put down. Initially, I thought the accent of the reader was going to drive me nuts, but I got past it. I enjoyed it.

Devious and audictive {{{WHAM, BAM, WTF MA’AM}}}

Unlike any book I’ve enjoyed in more than six years, author Kerry Barnes creates a psychological and nefarious thriller deluxe. Complete with pitch-perfect narration by Annie Aldington, “Voice of Reason” grabbed me from the very start and brought each and every character to vivid life. Following the powerful and corrupt Mason clan, bodies drop, surprises ensue and jaw-dropping twists and turns left me wanting more, more, more. Just when I thought I knew the finale of this bizarre whodunnit, Barnes zigzags and proves why this is an edge-of-your-seat listen. I’ve already purchased Book 2, “Voice of Rage.” I can’t stress it enough, get it! Working together with precision, I will be searching for more by these extremely talented women. Worthy of a treasured credit. An awesome nod to Audible for bringing us this hidden gem. So highly recommended, I can’t see to the top! I’m on that roof again shrieking, “Epic, I say! EPIC! EPIC! EPIC!”

👏✍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏✍🏻

Shockingly, “Voice of Rage,” Book 2, did not even closely live up to this one in any way.

One of the best books !

I honestly had to find excuses to listen to this book! It had me gripped from start to finish. A well thought out story which has so many unexpected twists!
The characters come 'alive' with the excellent narration by Annie Aldington. I think this particular title will be hard to beat!
Definatly worth the credit!

Absolutely Brilliant

I don't write a lot of reviews, even if I really enjoy an author ,narrator or audio book. I looked many times at Kerry Barnes work but didn't think I would enjoy it. How wrong I was ! I have now finished this one and nearly another, plus already downloaded my third. The narrator really does bring the books to life! Don't overlook this author, you don't know what your missing. Each book grips you from start to finish. Excellent

so much fun and well read

loved it :) twists galore and really well narrated. I enjoy Karen slaughter and blood wedding, Stephen king and couple of recent thrillers Sweet Pea and precious you so if you like them maybe thisll be for you, and if you like this they could be as welll. I look for character building, reasonable pacing ( not in king lol), intertwined stories and immersive world's

poor story, poorly written, first return for me

This is the first title I've returned- i really tried to persist with it..but the story is plainly not going anywhere, it is poorly written and just not interesting, and there is an awful lot of unnecessarily detailed and insignificant dialogue between uninteresting characters. Lots of contradictions in actions or thoughts of characters as well, unlikely happenings, and while i was hoping it would get better and would come together- it didn't. The narrator tries very hard to make it better so an extra star for her. Very disappointed in this so i ended up returning it after a few wasted hours. Shame.

Once you work it out .. you haven't .. and then you are wrong again .. I enjoyed the ride.
