Story
Two hundred years ago, aliens invaded Earth. A violent war followed. The enemy won. Some of us escaped, most of us didn’t. On Proxima they flourished - the invasion forgotten. On Earth we floundered - the horror began. Their world is advanced, peaceful, and secure. Our world is broken, savage, and overrun. A new invasion is coming. A hunger that has swallowed half the universe. They don’t care which planet we live on. They want to end us all. But where there is life, there is hope. And where there is hope, there are heroes. This time, vengeance will be ours.

The Wizard's Council of Tarador was supposed to tell young Koren Bladewell that he is a wizard. They were supposed to tell everyone that he is not a jinx, that all the bad things that happen around him are because he can't control the power inside him, power he doesn't know about. Story
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

This book is extremely frustrating, not in the "terrible book" sort of way but the why the f*** would she do that or continue to do that?! Ahhh, I'm pulling my hair out LOL. I guess only good books do that to a person. Well written & great narration 10/10. Great job!!

The kid becomes the Enemy?
Really? Really? The kid Falls for the enemy tricks.? 10 times I saw this coming because of how the key info which in real life would have been said in passing, under breath, out loud, in debriefings would've made sense and changed the outcome. But to advance the story using Hollywood's stupid story writing of using confusion because someone didn't speak up PISSED me off. It made the story so much more weaker than a the previous books. I'm glad in a sense it came at the end of the book. You had a great story but you're falling victim to the same pitfalls Hollywood Movies are falling to. Using Cliches to write the story versus being clever and having the reader / Listener have an Ah-Ha moment.
Not all was bad. The Joke landed. The lak of sex keeped the story on course and Engaging. The feelings for the characters were on point. It's too bad you won't see this. the stories are probably already written.
Be blessed, Be safe.... Thanks for the Stories. I am a Semi truck driver. They help for the long roads.

They RUINED IT!!!
Okay, leme start off by saying up to this point i have very much enjoyed this series and each book up to this one has gitten 5 stars all around by me. I enjoyed the characters, the interpersonal relationships, the humor and lighthearted vibe of these books and i appreciated how the author is himself a die hard fan of sci fi much like myself and it showed in his books. Both authors up to this point have shown they take care of us readers by writing good believable storys with intense action and good plots all the while keeping the characters we've grown to love as the hero's we like to read about and grow close to. the author even mentioned before how he's felt bonds with characters in storys in the past and they helped him get through hard times. So i know im not the only one who gets torn up when a beloved innocent and amazing young child like piper gets manipulated by a demonic horrible person (who never should have been allowed to live in the first place) and actually BELEIVES HIM! Pipers character makes a complete 180 and stops acting like the person that i first grew attached to and begins hating Magnus without confirming the information or even discussing it with ANYONE except for the initial conversation with the INSANE BAD GUY! WHY! Why would the authors do this to us readers? idk if im the ONLY ONE who actually cares this much but the entire book was ruined for me the second that Piper beleived that bs story about Magnus. it was jus stressful and negative for no reason. I understand there needs to be conflict and characters need to progress and there needs to be opposition and things cant always go right but to ruin the sweetest most lovable character they created for no reason???? They could have created some other plot points to carry the story along. After that it just gets worse and worse until Piper runs aways AFTER THEY KILL OFF VAL!!!!!!!!! AGAIN WHYYYY? I enjoyed books 1 thru 3 but after this book i will NOT be continuing this series. The authors have lost my trust. they didnt even have ANY resolution to all the negativity and stressful crap they stirred up. I refuse to buy the next book for fear of it being more of the same and this book did nothing but stress me out and infuriate me. Thanks for ruining ruins of the galaxy😤

One word: predictable
R.C Bray performed perfectly in this book, but he must have groaned too at the super predictable storyline. I literally couldn’t listen to the last several chapters and had to fast forward to the end just to see if I was right. I was. I won’t spoil the story for you, but as you listen, the hints of what I’m talking about play out so predictable you can stop listening at the halfway point and fast forward to the end. I am done with this series and will not waste my money on any more it.

Bad enough I won’t continue the series

story takes a serious downhill trend
What a shame.
I have persevered with this series but im stopping here.
SOILERS BELOW:
What can you say when they write some interesting characters which go from intelligent high speed operators to idiots in a couple of chapters? I found myself hoping for Magnus to die a few times in this book. You have the guy you hate most under complete control in a cell. He's huge and strong, so lets open the cell and get our a$$ kicked. Yay. Seriously? The second time this happens the fight description goes on for like 5 minutes of upper cuts and jabs, and upper cuts and jabs etc etc, fast forward.... sigh.
Oh and let's kill off the most interesting character in the series. Maybe the author will undo this in the next book with some extra special magic!!
And the story line with Piper is the real reason im stopping here. The way forward is so obvious it's pointless to spend the time (and pain) of listening to someone convince her of one thing, then stuff will happen, then the others will convinve of the opposite, just in time to save the day. Que tears and hugs etc etc
Maybe a 10yr old would enjoy this book more, what can I say?
such a shame.

thought provoking and funny
I just could not stop listening to this book. By far the best and funny too. so much effort has been put into the battle scenes, even the fang.
What would you do if you were Magnus watching Piper, seen that all unfold....

Miscommunication not a plot device I enjoy
The action, plot progression and character development in this book was good, making this difficult for me to rate. This instalment loses a point as for me personally I don’t like miscommunication between characters, especially children, as a plot device to create tension. The setup around that conflict seemed forced just to create animosity between major characters and I found this challenging to work my way through. If that doesn’t bother you then add a star.

Amazing book, great performance
loved this book. RC Bray did an amazing job as usual. love the characters. this book has a few frustrating moments in it which goes to show how involved you get listening to these stories.

Enjoyed
I think that R C Bray is one of my favourite narrator’s and that being said, I enjoyed this book very much.
