Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Oliver North delivers a compelling book inspired by his popular FOX News Channel television program, War Stories. Hard hitting and provocative, War Stories: Operation Iraqi Freedom gives readers the behind-the-lines glimpse that only North can deliver.

As an embedded journalist in Iraq, North got a soldier's-eye view, often while under fire, of what the mainstream media failed to report. A decorated combat veteran, North watched Operation Iraqi Freedom with trained eyes unmatched by other journalists. What he witnessed compelled him to challenge post-war critics of the operation for their uninformed and deceptive views.

Gripping, insightful, and full of the gritty reality of war, this book is a powerful argument in favor of the campaign that liberated Iraq from the regime of Saddam Hussein.

A true Hero.

Ollie North is an American icon of what is right with us. His accounts from the battle field accurately describe what our sons and daughters are facing. Ollie gives our enemies no comfort.

Gritty detail on the Marine's advance in Iraq

Ollie North, a noted conservative polemic, provides here some excellent journalistic dispatches, full of detail and light on commentary. While he never attempts to hide his sentiments towards the Marines fighting and dying in Iraq, he shares their dangers and provides the perspective on the fighting that can only come from an experienced warrior. Well recommended regardless of where you stand politically.

Highly recommended

I was always looking for an excuses to listen to this book. It was excellent and I can't recommend it highly enough. You can almost feel the sand on your face during the storms.

Very informative

Very informative. This book is filled with more details that someone like myself is interested in than most history books. It puts the information in a way that is easily understood. Definately easy to recommend to any history lover.

I wish this was narrated by Oliver North!

Basically a rehash of the 2003 Fox News coverage of the Iraq War. I thought that was extremely well done at the time, so I found this book very interesting. The biggest flaw is that it's not narrated by Oliver North (except for an exceedingly brief introduction).

Awesome

This is a great book for anyone interested in military history. Oliver North isn't the greatest writer in the world, but he did a excellent job capturing what it was like to be on the front lines of a modern battlefield. I think it would have been a better listen if he would have done the narration.
