Publisher's Summary

When the SAS takes on the Narcos, there can be only one winner.

Set in 2011 in Mexico and London, Warlord is based on real events. Series hero Danny Black leads an SAS squad on loan to the CIA and sent to the Mexican border. The old Colombian drug gangs are being driven out by New Mexican gangs and their crack killing teams, called the Zitas. This is leading to a new, unprecedented flood of heroin engulfing Southern American states. Danny's squad is to take the war to the Zitas, who have received Special Forces training, and to assassinate their mysterious leader.

Danny's younger brother is a junkie, and it will soon become apparent that the Zitas have a very long reach.

You won't put this down

Danny Black takes on the baddest Mexicans there are. Will he survive, will his mates survive, what will the Regiment do ? The best Ryan book I've read yet.

Gripped

Couldn't put it down so to speak... The ending is difficult but you really do get it, I think Mr Ryan has upped his game with the Danny Black stories. A very good read or should I say listen.

Awful

Awful. Like a child has written a book after watching Sicario and forgotten the good bits.

cliff hanging

I am a fan of all Chris Ryan's book before this.
but this one was absolutely captivating
As soon as they landed into Mexico, they were in the shit.
Betrayal, the death of the men and the swift retribution when you fuck with 22nd Regiment
excellent !

Enjoyable but much of the same.

I enjoy this series, it's fairly light listening and the performances of the narrator are especially good. The story though is starting to get a little dated and there is some repetition between books. I understand it must be very hard to keep a series like this going for so long. Needs a refresh of the characters and story lines. If you have liked the other books still recommended.
