Publisher's Summary
R is a zombie. He has no name, no memories, and no pulse, but he has dreams. He is a little different from his fellow Dead. Amongst the ruins of an abandoned city, R meets a girl. Her name is Julie, and she is the opposite of everything he knows - warm and bright and very much alive, she is a blast of colour in a dreary grey landscape.
For reasons he can't understand, R chooses to save Julie instead of eating her, and a tense yet strangely tender relationship begins. This has never happened before. It breaks the rules and defies logic, but R is no longer content with life in the grave. He wants to breathe again, he wants to live, and Julie wants to help him. But their grim, rotting world won't be changed without a fight....

Loved the story! A little different, but funny and romantic in its own way. Will definately listen to the sequel.

Absolutely wonderful.
This book is a great heart warming tale of zombies falling out of death and into life and love. I needed this book after reading a series of long complex and enjoyably brain draining books. A nice and simple but none the less wonderful read.

Slaughter never sounded so sweet
If you could sum up Warm Bodies in three words, what would they be?
Unexpected, engaging, gruesome
What was one of the most memorable moments of Warm Bodies?
Spoiler alert* when Julie and R are talking in the house after they escaped the airport, he admitted that he was the one that killed her boyfriend and she forgave him. You see in this scene that they have a real connection that is very deep for only knowing each other for a short time. You know what they have is special.
Which character – as performed by Kevin Kenerly – was your favorite?
Definitely R, he has a very soothing and rich voice, but he can still do female voices really well.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It sure was, it was so hard to turn off when life gets in the way.
Any additional comments?
Although it is a zombie story, it really is a story of redemption. It's like life became so taken for granted and driven by greed and consumerism that it caused the soul to die. Then humanity had to learn to live again.

Adorable and entertaining
Would you listen to Warm Bodies again? Why?
Not sure. I mean the story is nice, the dialogue is funny but things went a bit slow so probably not really.
Who was your favorite character and why?
R was my absolute fave, obviously. His mind and inner dialogues are really funny and he's just a nice, warming character. His best friend is also really funny, whenever he was present things were fun.
Any additional comments?
First of I'd like to say that the story itself is really cute, it's nice and it's thoughtful. It is kind of weird how you're reading about how the humans are pretty much doomed and everyone is either dead or a zombie yet it continues to be a light story. It's a very cute story really but it's lacking something towards the end, I didn't even realize it ended and I just sat for more, feeling like something was missing that didn't make the story THAT good.
However the characters are nice and the narrating was really what caught me. Kevin Kenerly has an extremely nice and relaxing voice and he's very good at doing zombie noises and sounding like other characters. I hope to find more books narrated by him.

Fantastic story
Warm Bodies is a fantastic story, and quite unique. I have seen the film and thought I'd see what the book was like. I was surprised how different it was. I would recommend this title.
The only fault is the chapters aren't separated when read aloud which made it difficult for me to stop listening and coming back to it later.

Alright book. Very badly chosen/cast narrator
The book/story itself was ok. Not amazing or great, but interesting and at times amusing. Storyline took a while to get going and even when it did there were times where the pace was simply too slow - R did too much pondering, but I guess that's a zombie hazard. I've seen the trailer and before reading the book was desperate to see the film, having read the book I am now less enthusiastic.
I've listened to countless audio books, the narrators can be hit and miss, but the narrator on Warm Bodies was particularly appalling. He sounds like an old man and it was difficult to deal with this in relation to R's romance with teenager Julie. He was also too theatrical and his nuances were extremely annoying. Would not recommend the audio - read the paperback instead.

"Like citrus mist from an orange peel."
A delightful story seen from the point of view of one young zombie, who tells the tale in the first person via his observations and ideas,as his language skills are virtually non existsnt. But he can still think. 'We may appear mindless, but we're not,' even if they, the other zombies, 'do a lot of standing around and groaning,' and ride the escalators several times a day. He has no memory of general history or of his own past, not even his name. He has no idea how long he has been as he is.
Having vicariously experienced another man's growing up and falling in love with Julie, when R. sees her in the flesh, he also loves and wants to protect her. So he escorts her home to the airfield where he and the others in his group hang out, and to the small plane in which he lives, hiding her away with the other treasures he's collected from the past. And somehow he intends to make it safe for her, save her and save the world
Kevin Kenerly narrates with such gentle skill, the emotional content glows through every word and helps transform the dead youth R into someone far more living in many other novels. His presentation is superb. Combined with the quirky characters and bizarre circumstances of the text, this is one extraordinary story of love which brings hope to the world. Suitable for young and old even those who have romance books. Recommended.

Even Better than the Movie
I really enjoyed the movie and happily enjoyed the book even more. The narrator is really good at expressing the characters throughout.

dragged my way to the end
started out interesting enough but the casual sexism grates at you... and the story jumps about a lot with no added value "let's go here... oh no let's go here now... and here we go back where we were.."

Liked the Movie, Loved the Book!
I first heard about Warm Bodies when I watched the movie on TV, I missed the beginning so I was looking for it online when I came across it on audible and saw reviews saying there was more story in the book. I liked the movie so I thought I’d give it a go and after listening to the audiobook, I have fallen in love with it. Loved the story, loved the characters and could fully imagine everything in my head. An amazing book and I would definitely recommend! 🙂.

Miles better than film!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes this was a great book, not what i was expecting and a totally different ending than any other zombie book
Who was your favorite character and why?
R of course and his development throughout the book, love the concept of zombie development.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Not 1 moment just the brilliant development and twist on a normal zombie book
Any additional comments?
From a vile all destructive zombie book which i love by the way, it twists through a nasty way into a love story with a massive twist at the end a really good listen.

Zombie tale with a heart
I loved this book as it was so unlike anything I'd read before. R is one of my favorite characters, so eloquent in his head and frustrated by his predicament and lack of ability to communicate. There was a gentle humour and enough gore that kept me entertained. The pace speeds up as the book goes along but the slow start might frustrate some. I quite liked the amount of time we were given getting to know R's new world though.
The narrator isn't what I would have expected but sounded quite ethereal which I thought suited the pace and tone.
