Publisher's Summary

It was just another day in the Emergency Department - until she was wheeled in through the doors.

Amanda Parks, my childhood best friend's mom, who I may or may not have secretly kissed before leaving for college.

I haven't seen her in over a decade, and in so many ways, she hasn't changed.

Same killer curves.

Same hypnotizing eyes.

Same reaction from my heart when I see her.

But something new? There isn't a ring on her finger anymore...

And I'm much more of a man than I was at eighteen.

Washed Up is a stand-alone, age-gap, medical romance in the Bayside Heroes series!

Forbidden Age Gap

I was a little hesitant going into this one. But because I love all things that Kandi Steiner writes I knew it would be good. This is a age gap, forbidden romance. Greg is much younger then Amanda. He’s the best friend of Amanda’s son. Or was until Greg moved away for college. This book was a slow burn. I enjoyed that it was a slow burn. It made the story more realistic to me. I’m glad there was some hesitancy. Greg is very sweet. I’m so glad Amanda let go and gave into her feelings.

Nice age gab with some forbidden elements

I’m not big into age-gap romances, nothing wrong with them in my eye but they’ve never really interested me. However, Kandi Steiner is an author that interests me and I follow her around waiting for her next book. I enjoyed Amanda and Greg immensely. Amanda is going through a divorce and is excited to start over, starting with school. When an accident throws Amanda back into Greg’s life things get spicy! Greg lives so many guys wet fantasies here… getting to know his best friend’s mom on a more personal level! At face value it seems very rated x but this is more than behind closed doors. Greg and Amanda really develop a friendship and depend on each other.

Steiner’s writing is fabulous! She develops the characters with real and true flaws. I absolutely adored Greg and Amanda was a fierce and strong woman. This is a delicious slow burn romance with some forbidden elements tossed in. I loved that it’s the start of a series with 2 other authors and we get to see the characters cross over into each other’s books. The narration by Hannah Chiclana and Edward Black was overall good. They both were able to bring the characters to life and really added a pulse to the story. I wish Chiclana sounded a tad older. It’s hard to hear her as a 47-year-old woman but that’s my biggest complaint. Black was amazing as Greg.

Age-Gap and Forbidden Romance!

I read it, and I liked the audiobook version. This book is part of the Bayside Heroes, a multi-authors series. Amanda and Greg's story is beautifully written, and heartwarming. Amanda is a beautiful survivor, strong, and determined. Greg is handsome, caring, and supportive. They are perfect together. This is a great forbidden and age-gap medical romance. I enjoyed it! Hannah Chiclana and Edward Black did a good job with the narration. I enjoyed it.

Bayside Heroes!

Washed Up (Bayside Hereos series) is a age gap romance that is romantic and brings on new beginnings. The characters are compelling and likeable characteristics. The ending is sweetly perfect.

Hannah Chiclana, Edward Black - firstly the only reason for the four stars is because Hannah inflection is very young and I feel doesn’t fit the character. Otherwise it would be a five star. Her performance was very emotional and brought the story to reality. Edward's performance of Greg had a good tone and easy listening.

Loved it!

Beautiful age gap, medical romance. Slow burn and great chemistry, Greg and Amanda’s connection can be felt from the second they meet again. A sweet, forbidden love story that will have you swooning until the very end. A wonderful job to both narrators portraying Greg and Amanda.

Enjoyed

I read this story, and enjoyed it. So I really wanted to do the audible. This was my first time with these two narrators so it took me a while to get into the story, but I still enjoyed it :-)

Couldn’t have been easy for Amanda to start over and try to pick up the pieces of her life after divorcing form her abusive ex. But she had to. When she runs into her son’s friend Greg, who is a Dr now, after she got in an accident she cant seem to help the attraction that started so long ago.

I loved how their relationship started with friendship first. And loved that Greg gave her the freedom to find herself again and try to live the life she couldn’t before. Definitely and awesome story. And well done to the new narrators for me 😊

Age is but a number!

This was the first book I've read by Ms. Steiner, but it certainly won't be the last! Great introduction to the Bayside Heroes series with Amanda and Greg. Amanda is 47 (OMG, she's MY age!) and Greg is 34. When he was 18, the age gap was a BIG DEAL, but now it's less for him and still an issue for Amanda. What's the saying, "When you know, you know." Greg strikes me as a mature, compassionate, serious individual who is wise beyond his years. There was something about Amanda that drew him to her; whether it was the warrior in her or the courage to leave the abusive marriage she was in and begin living her life. They were perfect for each other to encourage doing things out of their comfort zone and try new things. GAH... I was so emotional while I read this book! Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Hannah Chiclana and Edward Black are new to me narrators. They narrated duet style, alternating POVs. They did a phenomenal job bringing the story and the characters to life.

I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this review.

Great hook that delivered

This book had a great hook and it followed through really well. Age gap, medical professional, shared history/second chance.

A woman going through divorce from her P of S abusive ex ends up in a car accident. When she's being put under by her emergency surgery team, she recognizes her anesthesiologist. He was her son's best friend in high school, but now he's grown up and time has been very kind to him. While loopy from the drugs and falling asleep, she tells him so.

While Amanda is working on pulling her life back together post accident, her son invites Greg back into the fold to help out. It's been a long time since Greg saw her, since he left for college having barely kissed the gorgeous married older woman, but as soon as he starts spending time with her, he doesn't want to stop.

I loved Amanda and Greg. and Hannah Chiclana & Edward Black did an amazing job of bringing them to life. There were a lot of emotions in this one, past trauma from abuse (emotional and physical) on Amanda's side, less than warm home environment on Greg's but these two found strength and warmth and home in each other. They each brought forth a full range of emotions that I loved experiencing. Edward Black can tell me I'm a bada$$ any day.

This story had the added fun of being part of a shared world with 3 other authors. Many of the characters from the other books were part of this story and it makes me want to experience their tales. Washed Up is first so you don't need to know anything else, but I'm left wondering how much of the shared scenes in this story will appear in the others... I love continuity.

An Emotional Age Gap Romance

In true Kandi Steiner fashion she puts our hearts through the wringer with Washed Up. I usually have a harder time believing an age gap between and older woman and younger man however with this story everything is laid out on the table and you can feel the emotions between these two! Being that her love interest is her son's best friend you also have that added taboo part.

The story held all the real worries and reactions one could have with the situations these characters came across. From the abuse to divorce to learning to love yourself and finding who you are again. Beautiful story!

The narration combo of Hannah Chiclana and Edward Black were perfect for Greg and Amanda and really brought this story to life!

Greg & Amanda

Story: 3 ⭐️
Steam: 3 🔥 light smut, one scene
Audio: 4 🎧

*MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD*

This book was alright. I really loved the hero, I thought he was just amazing. He’s so supportive and sweet. He knows exactly what he wants and goes for it while also being respectful.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the heroine. My main issue was that the age gap is just over discussed. I felt like I was constantly being reminded that the heroine was a 47 year old grandma. It felt like till the very end she just harped on the age difference and made assumptions about how Greg felt. I also felt like Amanda had really negative self talk which was not fun to be in her head with. She was constantly talking down about herself and her body. I understand that this stemmed from her relationship with her ex but it just wasn’t fun.

I think that the “best friends mom” trope was a little bit of a stretch. We learn early on that Greg and Dave seemed to have fallen out of contact during their college ages and then reconnected when he reconnected with Amanda. Friends, yes. Best friends? I don’t really think so.

Emotional, second chance, age gap romance

Washed Up is book one in the Bayside Heroes series and is the moving age gap romance of Greg and Amanda.
Greg is a doctor and works in the ER. One day the victims of a car accident are taken into the hospital and Greg comes face to face with his childhood best friends Mum who he had a crush on during his teenage years.
Amanda is a survivor, she suffered at the hands of her husband who was abusive for a lot of her marriage but stuck around and made excuses because he liked to drink.
I loved Amanda and Greg’s story. I quickly fell in love with them. I loved the slow burn, the simmering beneath the surface as they tried to deny their feelings before eventually hotting up when they eventually give in to their lust!
Hannah and Edward are new to me narrators and did an amazing job bringing this age gap couple to life, I loved the emotion, the friendship and romance portrayed.
A truly romantic and emotional story about hope, second chances, new beginnings and the message that true love conquers all.

Amazing Age Gap Romance! Yes, please!

Another amazing listen by Kandi Steiner! I'm a sucker for a OW/YM age gap story. And this book did not disappoint! This story was about Amanda & Greg. Amanda's son was born when she was 15 years old. A horrible marriage to the child's father, left Amanda on the verge of divorce while still under her husband's control. A car accident led her to the hospital and a chance meeting with her son's best friend from childhood. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Amanda & Greg. So darn hot! Excellent narration by Hannah Chiciana (new to me narrator) & Edward Black.

Beautiful story and great narration team

This is a poignant, beautiful age gap story of a mature 47 year old woman and a 34 year old man. Amanda is finally almost free from her horrible, abusive drunk husband and Greg was her son’s best friend and now an anesthesiologist who saw her again after about 16 years when she was admitted after being in an awful car accident.

I spent the last quarter of the book in tears. As a woman in her mid 40s, a lot of what Amanda went through spoke to me. And Greg was this wonderful man who supported her so beautifully, allowing her to be who she was always meant to be. I adored their growth, both separately and together, and while there was a realistic angst associated with their age gap and the fact that he is her son’s best friend, the conflict was not overdone. What a gorgeously written special story.

I first read the ebook, being a really big fan of this author's. Then I had an opportunity to listen to the audiobook, which is narrated by Hannah Chiclana and Edward Black, both new to me narrators. Hannah Chiclana sounded a little young to play a woman in her later 40s but she did a great job overall. Edward Black was perfect as the voice of Greg and also did a good job playing multiple characters. So overall, this auditory experience lived up to the wonderful story.
